1 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Veio a mim esta palavra do Senhor:

2 ` And thou, son of man, dost thou judge? dost thou judge the city of blood? then thou hast caused it to know all its abominations,

“Filho do homem, você a julgará? Você julgará essa cidade sanguinária? Então confronte-a com todas as suas práticas repugnantes

3 a nd thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: The city is shedding blood in its midst, For the coming in of its time, And it hath made idols on it for defilement.

e diga: Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Ó cidade, que traz condenação sobre si mesma por derramar sangue em seu meio e por se contaminar fazendo ídolos!

4 B y thy blood that thou hast shed thou hast been guilty, And by thine idols that thou hast made thou hast been defiled, And thou causest thy days to draw near, And art come in unto thine years, Therefore I have given thee a reproach to nations, And a derision to all the lands.

Você se tornou culpada por causa do sangue que derramou e por ter se contaminado com os ídolos que fez. Você deu cabo dos seus dias; chegou o fim dos seus anos. Por isso farei de você objeto de zombaria para as nações e de escárnio em todas as terras.

5 T he near and the far-off from thee scoff at thee, O defiled of name -- abounding in trouble.

Tanto as nações vizinhas como as distantes zombarão de você, ó cidade infame e inquieta!

6 L o, princes of Israel -- each according to his arm Have been in thee to shed blood.

“Veja como cada um dos príncipes de Israel que aí está usa o seu poder para derramar sangue.

7 F ather and mother made light of in thee, To a sojourner they dealt oppressively in thy midst, Fatherless and widow they oppressed in thee.

Em seu meio eles têm desprezado pai e mãe, oprimido o estrangeiro e maltratado o órfão e a viúva.

8 M y holy things thou hast despised, And My sabbaths thou hast polluted.

Você desprezou as minhas dádivas sagradas e profanou os meus sábados.

9 M en of slander have been in thee to shed blood, And on the mountains they have eaten in thee, Wickedness they have done in thy midst.

Em seu meio há caluniadores, prontos para derramar sangue; em seu meio há os que comem nos santuários dos montes e praticam atos lascivos;

10 T he nakedness of a father hath one uncovered in thee, The defiled of impurity they humbled in thee.

em seu meio há aqueles que desonram a cama dos seus pais, e aqueles que têm relações com as mulheres nos dias de sua menstruação.

11 A nd each with the wife of his neighbour hath done abomination, And each his daughter-in-law hath defiled through wickedness, And each his sister, his father's daughter, hath humbled in thee.

Um homem comete adultério com a mulher do seu próximo, outro contamina vergonhosamente a sua nora, e outro desonra a sua irmã, filha de seu próprio pai.

12 A bribe they have taken in thee to shed blood, Usury and increase thou hast taken, And cuttest off thy neighbour by oppression, And Me thou hast forgotten, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!

Em seu meio há homens que aceitam suborno para derramar sangue; você empresta a juros, visando lucro, e obtém ganhos injustos, extorquindo o próximo. E você se esqueceu de mim. Palavra do Soberano, o Senhor.

13 A nd lo, I have smitten My hand, Because of thy dishonest gain that thou hast gained, And for thy blood that hath been in thy midst.

“Mas você me verá bater as minhas mãos uma na outra contra os ganhos injustos que você obteve e contra o sangue que você derramou.

14 D oth thy heart stand -- are thy hands strong, For the days that I am dealing with thee? I, Jehovah, have spoken and have done.

Será que a sua coragem suportará ou as suas mãos serão fortes para o que eu vou fazer no dia em que eu lhe der o devido tratamento? Eu, o Senhor, falei, e o farei.

15 A nd I have scattered thee among nations, And have spread thee out among lands, And consumed thy uncleanness out of thee.

Dispersarei você entre as nações e a espalharei pelas terras; e darei fim à sua impureza.

16 A nd thou hast been polluted in thyself Before the eyes of nations, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.'

Quando você tiver sido desonrada aos olhos das nações, você saberá que eu sou o Senhor ”.

17 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Son of man,

E depois veio a mim esta palavra do Senhor:

18 T he house of Israel hath been to Me for dross, All of them brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, In the midst of a furnace -- dross hath silver been,

“Filho do homem, a nação de Israel tornou-se escória para mim; cobre, estanho, ferro e chumbo deixados na fornalha. Não passa de escória de prata.

19 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of your all becoming dross, Therefore, lo, I am gathering you unto the midst of Jerusalem,

Por isso, assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Visto que vocês todos se tornaram escória, eu os ajuntarei em Jerusalém.

20 A gathering of silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, Unto the midst of a furnace -- to blow on it fire, to melt it, So do I gather in Mine anger and in My fury, And I have let rest, and have melted you.

Assim como os homens ajuntam prata, cobre, ferro, chumbo e estanho numa fornalha a fim de fundi-los soprando fortemente o fogo, na minha ira e na minha indignação também ajuntarei vocês dentro da cidade e os fundirei.

21 A nd I have heaped you up, And blown on you in the fire of My wrath, And ye have been melted in its midst.

Eu os ajuntarei e soprarei sobre vocês o fogo da minha ira, e vocês se derreterão.

22 A s the melting of silver in the midst of a furnace, So are ye melted in its midst, And ye have known that I, Jehovah, I have poured out My fury upon you.'

Assim como a prata se derrete numa fornalha, também vocês se derreterão dentro dela, e saberão que eu, o Senhor, derramei a minha ira sobre vocês”.

23 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

De novo a palavra do Senhor veio a mim. Disse ele:

24 ` Son of man, say to it, Thou a land, It not cleansed nor rained on in a day of indignation.

“Filho do homem, diga a esta terra: Você é uma terra que não tem tido chuva nem aguaceiros no dia da ira.

25 A conspiracy of its prophets in its midst, as a roaring lion tearing prey; The soul they have devoured, Wealth and glory they have taken, Its widows have multiplied in its midst.

Há nela uma conspiração de seus príncipes como um leão que ruge ao despedaçar sua presa; devoram pessoas, apanham tesouros e objetos preciosos e fazem muitas viúvas.

26 I ts priests have wronged My law, And they pollute My holy things, Between holy and common they have not made separation, And between the unclean and the clean they have not made known, And from my sabbaths they have hidden their eyes, And I am pierced in their midst.

Seus sacerdotes cometem violência contra a minha lei e profanam minhas ofertas sagradas; não fazem distinção entre o sagrado e o comum; ensinam que não existe nenhuma diferença entre o puro e o impuro; e fecham os olhos quanto à guarda dos meus sábados, de maneira que sou desonrado no meio deles.

27 I ts princes in its midst as wolves, Tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, For the sake of gaining dishonest gain.

Seus oficiais são como lobos que despedaçam suas presas; derramam sangue e matam gente para obter ganhos injustos.

28 A nd its prophets have daubed for them with chalk, Seeing a vain thing, and divining for them a lie, Saying, `Thus said the Lord Jehovah:' And Jehovah hath not spoken.

Seus profetas disfarçam esses feitos enganando o povo com visões falsas e adivinhações mentirosas. Dizem: ‘Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor ’, quando o Senhor não falou.

29 T he people of the land have used oppression, And have taken plunder violently away, And humble and needy have oppressed, And the sojourner oppressed -- without judgment.

O povo da terra pratica extorsão e comete roubos; oprime os pobres e os necessitados e maltrata os estrangeiros, negando-lhes justiça.

30 A nd I seek of them a man making a fence, And standing in the breach before Me, In behalf of the land -- not to destroy it, And I have not found.

“Procurei entre eles um homem que erguesse o muro e se pusesse na brecha diante de mim e em favor desta terra, para que eu não a destruísse, mas não encontrei nenhum.

31 A nd I pour out on them mine indignation, By fire of My wrath I have consumed them, Their way on their own head I have put, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'

Por isso derramarei a minha ira sobre eles e os consumirei com o meu grande furor; sofrerão as conseqüências de tudo o que fizeram. Palavra do Soberano, o Senhor ”.
