1 ` Who this coming from Edom? With dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is honourable in his clothing, Travelling in the abundance of his power?' -- `I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.'

Quem é aquele que vem de Edom, que vem de Bozra, com as roupas tingidas de vermelho? Quem é aquele que, num manto de esplendor, avança a passos largos na grandeza da sua força? “Sou eu, que falo com retidão, poderoso para salvar.”

2 ` Wherefore thy clothing red? And thy garments as treading in a wine fat?'

Por que tuas roupas estão vermelhas, como as de quem pisa uvas no lagar?

3 - - `A wine-press I have trodden by myself, And of the peoples there is no one with me, And I tread them in mine anger, And I trample them in my fury, Sprinkled is their strength on my garments, And all my clothing I have polluted.

“Sozinho pisei uvas no lagar; das nações ninguém esteve comigo. Eu as pisoteei na minha ira e as pisei na minha indignação; o sangue delas respingou na minha roupa, e eu manchei toda a minha veste.

4 F or the day of vengeance in my heart, And the year of my redeemed hath come.

Pois o dia da vingança estava no meu coração, e chegou o ano da minha redenção.

5 A nd I look attentively, and there is none helping, And I am astonished that there is none supporting, And give salvation to me doth mine own arm. And my wrath -- it hath supported me.

Olhei, e não havia ninguém para ajudar-me, mostrei assombro, e não havia ninguém para apoiar-me. Por isso o meu braço me ajudou, e a minha ira deu-me apoio.

6 A nd I tread down peoples in mine anger, And I make them drunk in my fury, And I bring down to earth their strength.

Na minha ira pisoteei as nações; na minha indignação eu as embebedei e derramei na terra o sangue delas.” Oração e Louvor

7 T he kind acts of Jehovah I make mention of, The praises of Jehovah, According to all that Jehovah hath done for us, And the abundance of the goodness to the house of Israel, That He hath done for them, According to His mercies, And according to the abundance of His kind acts.

Falarei da bondade do Senhor, dos seus gloriosos feitos, por tudo o que o Senhor fez por nós, sim, de quanto bem ele fez à nação de Israel, conforme a sua compaixão e a grandeza da sua bondade.

8 A nd He saith, Only My people they, Sons -- they lie not, and He is to them for a saviour.

“Sem dúvida eles são o meu povo”, disse ele; “são filhos que não me vão trair”; e assim ele se tornou o Salvador deles.

9 I n all their distress no adversary, And the messenger of His presence saved them, In His love and in His pity He redeemed them, And He doth lift them up, And beareth them all the days of old.

Em toda a aflição do seu povo ele também se afligiu, e o anjo da sua presença os salvou. Em seu amor e em sua misericórdia ele os resgatou; foi ele que sempre os levantou e os conduziu nos dias passados.

10 A nd they have rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit, And He turneth to them for an enemy, He Himself hath fought against them.

Apesar disso, eles se revoltaram e entristeceram o seu Espírito Santo. Por isso ele se tornou inimigo deles e lutou pessoalmente contra eles.

11 A nd He remembereth the days of old, Moses -- his people. Where He who is bringing them up from the sea, The shepherd of his flock? Where He who is putting in its midst His Holy Spirit?

Então o seu povo recordou o passado, o tempo de Moisés e a sua geração: Onde está aquele que os fez passar através do mar, com o pastor do seu rebanho? Onde está aquele que entre eles pôs o seu Espírito Santo,

12 L eading by the right hand of Moses, the arm of His glory, Cleaving waters from before them, To make to Himself a name age-during.

que com o seu glorioso braço esteve à mão direita de Moisés, que dividiu as águas diante deles para alcançar renome eterno,

13 L eading them through the depths, As a horse in a plain they stumble not.

e os conduziu através das profundezas? Como o cavalo em campo aberto, eles não tropeçaram;

14 A s a beast into a valley goeth down, The Spirit of Jehovah causeth him to rest, So hast Thou led Thy people, To make to Thyself a glorious name.

como o gado que desce à planície, foi-lhes dado descanso pelo Espírito do Senhor. Foi assim que guiaste o teu povo para fazer para ti um nome glorioso.

15 L ook attentively from the heavens, And see from Thy holy and beauteous habitation, Where Thy zeal and Thy might? The multitude of Thy bowels and Thy mercies Towards me have refrained themselves.

Olha dos altos céus, da tua habitação elevada, santa e gloriosa. Onde estão o teu zelo e o teu poder? Retiveste a tua bondade e a tua compaixão; elas já nos faltam!

16 F or Thou our Father, For Abraham hath not known us, And Israel doth not acknowledge us, Thou, O Jehovah, our Father, Our redeemer from the age, Thy name.

Entretanto, tu és o nosso Pai. Abraão não nos conhece e Israel nos ignora; tu, Senhor, és o nosso Pai, e desde a antigüidade te chamas nosso Redentor.

17 W hy causest Thou us to wander, O Jehovah, from Thy ways? Thou hardenest our heart from Thy fear, Turn back for Thy servants' sake, The tribes of Thine inheritance.

Senhor, por que nos fazes andar longe dos teus caminhos e endureces o nosso coração para não termos temor de ti? Volta, por amor dos teus servos, por amor das tribos que são a tua herança!

18 F or a little while did Thy holy people possess, Our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.

Por pouco tempo o teu povo possuiu o teu santo lugar; depois os nossos inimigos pisotearam o teu santuário.

19 W e have been from of old, Thou hast not ruled over them, Not called is Thy name upon them!

Somos teus desde a antigüidade, mas aqueles tu não governaste; eles não foram chamados pelo teu nome.
