1 ` Hear, Israel, thou art passing over to-day the Jordan, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself; cities great and fenced in the heavens;

“Ouça, ó Israel: Hoje você está atravessando o Jordão para entrar na terra e conquistar nações maiores e mais poderosas do que você, as quais têm cidades grandes, com muros que vão até o céu.

2 a people great and tall, sons of Anakim, whom thou -- thou hast known, (and thou -- thou hast heard: Who doth station himself before sons of Anak?)

O povo é forte e alto. São enaquins! Você já ouviu falar deles e até conhece o que se diz: ‘Quem é capaz de resistir aos enaquins?’

3 a nd thou hast known to-day, that Jehovah thy God He who is passing over before thee -- a fire consuming; He doth destroy them, and He doth humble them before thee, and thou hast dispossessed them, and destroyed them hastily, as Jehovah hath spoken to thee.

Esteja, hoje, certo de que o Senhor, o seu Deus, ele mesmo, vai adiante de você como fogo consumidor. Ele os exterminará e os subjugará diante de você. E você os expulsará e os destruirá, como o Senhor lhe prometeu.

4 ` Thou dost not speak in thy heart (in Jehovah thy God's driving them away from before thee), saying, For my righteousness hath Jehovah brought me in to possess this land, seeing for the wickedness of these nations is Jehovah dispossessing them from thy presence;

“Depois que o Senhor, o seu Deus, os tiver expulsado da presença de você, não diga a si mesmo: ‘O Senhor me trouxe aqui para tomar posse desta terra por causa da minha justiça’. Não! É devido à impiedade destas nações que o Senhor vai expulsá-las da presença de você.

5 n ot for thy righteousness, and for the uprightness of thy heart, art thou going in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations is Jehovah thy God dispossessing them from before thee; and in order to establish the word which Jehovah hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob;

Não é por causa de sua justiça ou de sua retidão que você conquistará a terra delas. Mas é por causa da maldade destas nações que o Senhor, o seu Deus, as expulsará de diante de você, para cumprir a palavra que o Senhor prometeu, sob juramento, aos seus antepassados, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.

6 a nd thou hast known, that not for thy righteousness is Jehovah thy God giving to thee this good land to possess it, for a people stiff of neck thou.

Portanto, esteja certo de que não é por causa de sua justiça que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhe dá esta boa terra para dela tomar posse, pois você é um povo obstinado. O Bezerro de Ouro

7 ` Remember -- do not forget -- that which thou hast made Jehovah thy God wroth in the wilderness; even from the day that thou hast come out of the land of Egypt till your coming in unto this place rebels ye have been with Jehovah;

“Lembrem-se disto e jamais esqueçam como vocês provocaram a ira do Senhor, o seu Deus, no deserto. Desde o dia em que saíram do Egito até chegarem aqui, vocês têm sido rebeldes contra o Senhor.

8 e ven in Horeb ye have made Jehovah wroth, and Jehovah sheweth Himself angry against you -- to destroy you.

Até mesmo em Horebe vocês provocaram a ira do Senhor, e ele ficou furioso, ao ponto de querer exterminá-los.

9 ` In my going up into the mount to receive the tables of stone (tables of the covenant which Jehovah hath made with you), and I abide in the mount forty days and forty nights; bread I have not eaten, and water I have not drunk;

Quando subi o monte para receber as tábuas de pedra, as tábuas da aliança que o Senhor tinha feito com vocês, fiquei no monte quarenta dias e quarenta noites; não comi pão, nem bebi água.

10 a nd Jehovah giveth unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and on them according to all the words which Jehovah hath spoken with you in the mount, out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly.

O Senhor me deu as duas tábuas de pedra escritas pelo dedo de Deus. Nelas estavam escritas todas as palavras que o Senhor proclamou a vocês no monte, de dentro do fogo, no dia da assembléia.

11 ` And it cometh to pass, at the end of forty days and forty nights, Jehovah hath given unto me the two tables of stone -- tables of the covenant,

“Passados os quarenta dias e quarenta noites, o Senhor me deu as duas tábuas de pedra, as tábuas da aliança,

12 a nd Jehovah saith unto me, Rise, go down, hasten from this, for thy people hath done corruptly, whom thou hast brought out of Egypt; they have turned aside hastily out of the way which I have commanded them -- they have made to themselves a molten thing!

e me disse: ‘Desça imediatamente, pois o seu povo, que você tirou do Egito, corrompeu-se. Eles se afastaram bem depressa do caminho que eu lhes ordenei e fizeram um ídolo de metal para si’.

13 ` And Jehovah speaketh unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and lo, a people stiff of neck it;

“E o Senhor me disse: ‘Vejo que este povo é realmente um povo obstinado!

14 d esist from Me, and I destroy them, and blot out their name from under the heavens, and I make thee become a nation more mighty and numerous than it.

Deixe que eu os destrua e apague o nome deles de debaixo do céu. E farei de você uma nação mais forte e mais numerosa do que eles’.

15 ` And I turn, and come down from the mount, and the mount is burning with fire, and the two tables of the covenant on my two hands,

“Então voltei e desci do monte, enquanto este ardia em chamas. E as duas tábuas da aliança estavam em minhas mãos.

16 a nd I see, and lo, ye have sinned against Jehovah your God; ye have made to yourselves a molten calf; ye have turned aside hastily out of the way which Jehovah hath commanded you.

E vi que vocês tinham pecado contra o Senhor, o seu Deus. Fizeram para si um ídolo de metal em forma de bezerro. Bem depressa vocês se desviaram do caminho que o Senhor, o Deus de vocês, lhes tinha ordenado.

17 ` And I lay hold on the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and break them before your eyes,

Então peguei as duas tábuas e as lancei das minhas mãos, quebrando-as diante dos olhos de vocês.

18 a nd I throw myself before Jehovah, as at first, forty days and forty nights; bread I have not eaten, and water I have not drunk, because of all your sins which ye have sinned, by doing the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to make Him angry.

“Depois prostrei-me perante o Senhor outros quarenta dias e quarenta noites; não comi pão, nem bebi água, por causa do grande pecado que vocês tinham cometido, fazendo o que o Senhor reprova, provocando a ira dele.

19 ` For I have been afraid because of the anger and the fury with which Jehovah hath been wroth against you, to destroy you; and Jehovah doth hearken unto me also at this time.

Tive medo da ira e do furor do Senhor, pois ele estava irado ao ponto de destruí-los, mas de novo o Senhor me escutou.

20 ` And with Aaron hath Jehovah shewed himself very angry, to destroy him, and I pray also for Aaron at that time;

O Senhor irou-se contra Arão a ponto de querer destruí-lo, mas naquela ocasião também orei por Arão.

21 a nd your sin, which ye have made -- the calf -- I have taken, and I burn it with fire, and beat it, grinding well till that it small as dust, and I cast its dust unto the brook which is going down out of the mount.

Então peguei o bezerro, o bezerro do pecado de vocês, e o queimei no fogo; depois o esmigalhei e o moí até virar pó, e o joguei no riacho que desce do monte.

22 ` And in Taberah, and in Massah, and in Kibroth-Hattaavah, ye have been making Jehovah wroth:

“Além disso, vocês tornaram a provocar a ira do Senhor em Taberá, em Massá e em Quibrote-Hataavá.

23 a nd in Jehovah's sending you from Kadesh-Barnea, saying, Go up, and possess the land which I have given to you, then ye provoke the mouth of Jehovah your God, and have not given credence to Him, nor hearkened to His voice;

“E, quando o Senhor os enviou de Cades-Barnéia, disse: ‘Entrem lá e tomem posse da terra que lhes dei’. Mas vocês se rebelaram contra a ordem do Senhor, o seu Deus. Não confiaram nele, nem lhe obedeceram.

24 r ebels ye have been with Jehovah from the day of my knowing you.

Vocês têm sido rebeldes contra o Senhor desde que os conheço.

25 ` And I throw myself before Jehovah, the forty days and the forty nights, as I had thrown myself, for Jehovah hath said -- to destroy you;

“Fiquei prostrado perante o Senhor durante aqueles quarenta dias e quarenta noites porque o Senhor tinha dito que ia destruí-los.

26 a nd I pray unto Jehovah, and say, Lord Jehovah, destroy not Thy people, and Thine inheritance, whom Thou hast ransomed in Thy greatness; whom Thou hast brought out of Egypt with a strong hand;

Foi quando orei ao Senhor, dizendo: Ó Soberano Senhor, não destruas o teu povo, a tua própria herança! Tu o redimiste com a tua grandeza e o tiraste da terra do Egito com mão poderosa.

27 b e mindful of Thy servants, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, turn not unto the stiffness of this people, and unto its wickedness, and unto its sin;

Lembra-te de teus servos Abraão, Isaque e Jacó. Não leves em conta a obstinação deste povo, a sua maldade e o seu pecado,

28 l est the land say from which Thou hast brought us out, Because of Jehovah's want of ability to bring them in unto the land of which He hath spoken to them, and because of His hating them, He brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness;

se não os habitantes da terra de onde nos tiraste dirão: ‘Como o Senhor não conseguiu levá-los à terra que lhes havia prometido, e como ele os odiava, tirou-os para fazê-los morrer no deserto’.

29 a nd they Thy people, and Thine inheritance, whom Thou hast brought out by Thy great power, and by Thy stretched-out arm!

Mas eles são o teu povo, a tua herança, que tiraste do Egito com o teu grande poder e com o teu braço forte.
