1 A nd the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

Quando chegou o sétimo mês e os israelitas já estavam em suas cidades, o povo se reuniu como um só homem em Jerusalém.

2 A nd rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

Então Jesua, filho de Jozadaque, e seus colegas, os sacerdotes, e Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e seus companheiros começaram a construir o altar do Deus de Israel para nele sacrificarem holocaustos, conforme o que está escrito na Lei de Moisés, homem de Deus.

3 A nd they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

Apesar do receio que tinham dos povos ao redor, construíram o altar sobre a sua base e nele sacrificaram holocaustos ao Senhor, tanto os sacrifícios da manhã como os da tarde.

4 A nd they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

Depois, de acordo com o que está escrito, celebraram a festa das cabanas com o número determinado de holocaustos prescritos para cada dia.

5 a nd after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

A seguir apresentaram os holocaustos regulares, os sacrifícios da lua nova e os sacrifícios requeridos para todas as festas sagradas determinadas pelo Senhor, bem como os que foram trazidos como ofertas voluntárias ao Senhor.

6 F rom the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

A partir do primeiro dia do sétimo mês começaram a oferecer holocaustos ao Senhor, embora ainda não tivessem sido lançados os alicerces do templo do Senhor. A Reconstrução do Templo

7 a nd they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

Então eles deram dinheiro aos pedreiros e aos carpinteiros, e deram comida, bebida e azeite ao povo de Sidom e de Tiro, para que, pelo mar, trouxessem do Líbano para Jope toras de cedro. Isso tinha sido autorizado por Ciro, rei da Pérsia.

8 A nd in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

No segundo mês do segundo ano depois de chegarem ao templo de Deus em Jerusalém, Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, Jesua, filho de Jozadaque, e o restante dos seus irmãos — os sacerdotes, os levitas e todos os que tinham voltado do cativeiro para Jerusalém — começaram o trabalho, designando levitas de vinte anos para cima para supervisionarem a construção do templo do Senhor.

9 A nd Jeshua standeth, his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brethren the Levites.

Jesua, seus filhos e seus irmãos, e Cadmiel e seus filhos, descendentes de Hodavias, e os filhos de Henadade e seus filhos e seus irmãos, todos eles levitas, uniram-se para supervisionar os que trabalhavam no templo de Deus.

10 A nd those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of David king of Israel.

Quando os construtores lançaram os alicerces do templo do Senhor, os sacerdotes, com suas vestes e suas trombetas, e os levitas, filhos de Asafe, com címbalos, tomaram seus lugares para louvar o Senhor, conforme prescrito por Davi, rei de Israel.

11 A nd they respond in praising and in giving thanks to Jehovah, for good, for to the age His kindness over Israel, and all the people have shouted -- a great shout -- in giving praise to Jehovah, because the house of Jehovah hath been founded.

Com louvor e ações de graças, cantaram responsivamente ao Senhor: “Ele é bom; seu amor a Israel dura para sempre”. E todo o povo louvou o Senhor em alta voz, pois haviam sido lançados os alicerces do templo do Senhor.

12 A nd many of the priests, and the Levites, and the heads of the fathers, the aged men who had seen the first house -- in this house being founded before their eyes -- are weeping with a loud voice, and many with a shout, in joy, lifting up the voice;

Mas muitos dos sacerdotes, dos levitas e dos chefes das famílias mais velhos, que tinham visto o antigo templo, choraram em alta voz quando viram o lançamento dos alicerces desse templo; muitos, porém, gritavam de alegria.

13 a nd the people are not discerning the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people, for the people are shouting -- a great shout -- and the noise hath been heard unto a distance.

Não era possível distinguir entre o som dos gritos de alegria e o som do choro, pois o povo fazia enorme barulho. E o som foi ouvido a grande distância.
