1 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of two years of days that Pharaoh is dreaming, and lo, he is standing by the River,

Ao final de dois anos, o faraó teve um sonho. Ele estava em pé junto ao rio Nilo,

2 a nd lo, from the River coming up are seven kine, of fair appearance, and fat flesh, and they feed among the reeds;

quando saíram do rio sete vacas belas e gordas, que começaram a pastar entre os juncos.

3 a nd lo, seven other kine are coming up after them out of the River, of bad appearance, and lean flesh, and they stand near the kine on the edge of the River,

Depois saíram do rio mais sete vacas, feias e magras, que foram para junto das outras, à beira do Nilo.

4 a nd the kine of bad appearance and lean flesh eat up the seven kine of fair appearance, and fat -- and Pharaoh awaketh.

Então as vacas feias e magras comeram as sete vacas belas e gordas. Nisso o faraó acordou.

5 A nd he sleepeth, and dreameth a second time, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, fat and good,

Tornou a adormecer e teve outro sonho. Sete espigas de trigo, graúdas e boas, cresciam no mesmo pé.

6 a nd lo, seven ears, thin, and blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

Depois brotaram outras sete espigas, mirradas e ressequidas pelo vento leste.

7 a nd the thin ears swallow the seven fat and full ears -- and Pharaoh awaketh, and lo, a dream.

As espigas mirradas engoliram as sete espigas graúdas e cheias. Então o faraó acordou; era um sonho.

8 A nd it cometh to pass in the morning, that his spirit is moved, and he sendeth and calleth all the scribes of Egypt, and all its wise men, and Pharaoh recounteth to them his dream, and there is no interpreter of them to Pharaoh.

Pela manhã, perturbado, mandou chamar todos os magos e sábios do Egito e lhes contou os sonhos, mas ninguém foi capaz de interpretá-los.

9 A nd the chief of the butlers speaketh with Pharaoh, saying, `My sin I mention this day:

Então o chefe dos copeiros disse ao faraó: “Hoje me lembro de minhas faltas.

10 P haraoh hath been wroth against his servants, and giveth me into charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, me and the chief of the bakers;

Certa vez o faraó ficou irado com os seus dois servos e mandou prender-me junto com o chefe dos padeiros, na casa do capitão da guarda.

11 a nd we dream a dream in one night, I and he, each according to the interpretation of his dream we have dreamed.

Certa noite cada um de nós teve um sonho, e cada sonho tinha uma interpretação.

12 A nd there with us a youth, a Hebrew, servant to the chief of the executioners, and we recount to him, and he interpreteth to us our dreams, each according to his dream hath he interpreted,

Pois bem, havia lá conosco um jovem hebreu, servo do capitão da guarda. Contamos a ele os nossos sonhos, e ele os interpretou, dando a cada um de nós a interpretação do seu próprio sonho.

13 a nd it cometh to pass, as he hath interpreted to us so it hath been, me he put back on my station, and him he hanged.'

E tudo aconteceu conforme ele nos dissera: eu fui restaurado à minha posição e o outro foi enforcado ”.

14 A nd Pharaoh sendeth and calleth Joseph, and they cause him to run out of the pit, and he shaveth, and changeth his garments, and cometh in unto Pharaoh.

O faraó mandou chamar José, que foi trazido depressa do calabouço. Depois de se barbear e trocar de roupa, apresentou-se ao faraó.

15 A nd Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `A dream I have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it, and I -- I have heard concerning thee, saying, Thou understandest a dream to interpret it,'

O faraó disse a José: “Tive um sonho que ninguém consegue interpretar. Mas ouvi falar que você, ao ouvir um sonho, é capaz de interpretá-lo”.

16 a nd Joseph answereth Pharaoh, saying, `Without me -- God doth answer Pharaoh with peace.'

Respondeu-lhe José: “Isso não depende de mim, mas Deus dará ao faraó uma resposta favorável”.

17 A nd Pharaoh speaketh unto Joseph: `In my dream, lo, I am standing by the edge of the River,

Então o faraó contou o sonho a José: “Sonhei que estava em pé, à beira do Nilo,

18 a nd lo, out of the River coming up are seven kine, fat flesh, and of fair form, and they feed among the reeds;

quando saíram do rio sete vacas, belas e gordas, que começaram a pastar entre os juncos.

19 a nd lo, seven other kine are coming up after them, thin, and of very bad form, and lean flesh; I have not seen like these in all the land of Egypt for badness.

Depois saíram outras sete, raquíticas, muito feias e magras. Nunca vi vacas tão feias em toda a terra do Egito.

20 ` And the lean and the bad kine eat up the first seven fat kine,

As vacas magras e feias comeram as sete vacas gordas que tinham aparecido primeiro.

21 a nd they come in unto their midst, and it hath not been known that they have come in unto their midst, and their appearance bad as at the commencement; and I awake.

Mesmo depois de havê-las comido, não parecia que o tivessem feito, pois continuavam tão magras como antes. Então acordei.

22 ` And I see in my dream, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, full and good;

“Depois tive outro sonho. Vi sete espigas de cereal, cheias e boas, que cresciam num mesmo pé.

23 a nd lo, seven ears, withered, thin, blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

Depois delas, brotaram outras sete, murchas e mirradas, ressequidas pelo vento leste.

24 a nd the thin ears swallow the seven good ears; and I tell unto the scribes, and there is none declaring to me.'

As espigas magras engoliram as sete espigas boas. Contei isso aos magos, mas ninguém foi capaz de explicá-lo”.

25 A nd Joseph saith unto Pharaoh, `The dream of Pharaoh is one: that which God is doing he hath declared to Pharaoh;

“O faraó teve um único sonho”, disse-lhe José. “Deus revelou ao faraó o que ele está para fazer.

26 t he seven good kine are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years, the dream is one;

As sete vacas boas são sete anos, e as sete espigas boas são também sete anos; trata-se de um único sonho.

27 a nd the seven thin and bad kine which are coming up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears, blasted with an east wind, are seven years of famine;

As sete vacas magras e feias que surgiram depois das outras, e as sete espigas mirradas, queimadas pelo vento leste, são sete anos. Serão sete anos de fome.

28 t his the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: That which God is doing, he hath shewn Pharaoh.

“É exatamente como eu disse ao faraó: Deus mostrou ao faraó aquilo que ele vai fazer.

29 ` Lo, seven years are coming of great abundance in all the land of Egypt,

Sete anos de muita fartura estão para vir sobre toda a terra do Egito,

30 a nd seven years of famine have arisen after them, and all the plenty is forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine hath finished the land,

mas depois virão sete anos de fome. Então todo o tempo de fartura será esquecido, pois a fome arruinará a terra.

31 a nd the plenty is not known in the land because of that famine afterwards, for it very grievous.

A fome que virá depois será tão rigorosa que o tempo de fartura não será mais lembrado na terra.

32 ` And because of the repeating of the dream unto Pharaoh twice, surely the thing is established by God, and God is hastening to do it.

O sonho veio ao faraó duas vezes porque a questão já foi decidida por Deus, que se apressa em realizá-la.

33 ` And now, let Pharaoh provide a man, intelligent and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt;

“Procure agora o faraó um homem criterioso e sábio e coloque-o no comando da terra do Egito.

34 l et Pharaoh make and appoint overseers over the land, and receive a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty,

O faraó também deve estabelecer supervisores para recolher um quinto da colheita do Egito durante os sete anos de fartura.

35 a nd they gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and heap up corn under the hand of Pharaoh -- food in the cities; and they have kept,

Eles deverão recolher o que puderem nos anos bons que virão e fazer estoques de trigo que, sob o controle do faraó, serão armazenados nas cidades.

36 a nd the food hath been for a store for the land, for the seven years of famine which are in the land of Egypt; and the land is cut off by the famine.'

Esse estoque servirá de reserva para os sete anos de fome que virão sobre o Egito, para que a terra não seja arrasada pela fome.” José no Governo do Egito

37 A nd the thing is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants,

O plano pareceu bom ao faraó e a todos os seus conselheiros.

38 a nd Pharaoh saith unto his servants, `Do we find like this, a man in whom the spirit of God ?'

Por isso o faraó lhes perguntou: “Será que vamos achar alguém como este homem, em quem está o espírito divino?”

39 a nd Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `After God's causing thee to know all this, there is none intelligent and wise as thou;

Disse, pois, o faraó a José: “Uma vez que Deus lhe revelou todas essas coisas, não há ninguém tão criterioso e sábio como você.

40 t hou -- thou art over my house, and at thy mouth do all my people kiss; only in the throne I am greater than thou.'

Você terá o comando de meu palácio, e todo o meu povo se sujeitará às suas ordens. Somente em relação ao trono serei maior que você”.

41 A nd Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `See, I have put thee over all the land of Egypt.'

E o faraó prosseguiu: “Entrego a você agora o comando de toda a terra do Egito”.

42 A nd Pharaoh turneth aside his seal-ring from off his hand, and putteth it on the hand of Joseph, and clotheth him garments of fine linen, and placeth a chain of gold on his neck,

Em seguida o faraó tirou do dedo o seu anel-selo e o colocou no dedo de José. Mandou-o vestir linho fino e colocou uma corrente de ouro em seu pescoço.

43 a nd causeth him to ride in the second chariot which he hath, and they proclaim before him, `Bow the knee!' and -- to put him over all the land of Egypt.

Também o fez subir em sua segunda carruagem real, e à frente os arautos iam gritando: “Abram caminho!” Assim José foi colocado no comando de toda a terra do Egito.

44 A nd Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `I Pharaoh, and without thee a man doth not lift up his hand and his foot in all the land of Egypt;'

Disse ainda o faraó a José: “Eu sou o faraó, mas sem a sua palavra ninguém poderá levantar a mão nem o pé em todo o Egito”.

45 a nd Pharaoh calleth Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneah, and he giveth to him Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, for a wife, and Joseph goeth out over the land of Egypt.

O faraó deu a José o nome de Zafenate-Panéia e lhe deu por mulher Azenate, filha de Potífera, sacerdote de Om. Depois José foi inspecionar toda a terra do Egito.

46 A nd Joseph a son of thirty years in his standing before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and Joseph goeth out from the presence of Pharaoh, and passeth over through all the land of Egypt;

José tinha trinta anos de idade quando começou a servir ao faraó, rei do Egito. Ele se ausentou da presença do faraó e foi percorrer todo o Egito.

47 a nd the land maketh in the seven years of plenty by handfuls.

Durante os sete anos de fartura a terra teve grande produção.

48 A nd he gathereth all the food of the seven years which have been in the land of Egypt, and putteth food in the cities; the food of the field which round about city hath he put in its midst;

José recolheu todo o excedente dos sete anos de fartura no Egito e o armazenou nas cidades. Em cada cidade ele armazenava o trigo colhido nas lavouras das redondezas.

49 a nd Joseph gathereth corn as sand of the sea, multiplying exceedingly, until that he hath ceased to number, for there is no number.

Assim José estocou muito trigo, como a areia do mar. Tal era a quantidade que ele parou de anotar, porque ia além de toda medida.

50 A nd to Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine cometh, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, hath borne to him,

Antes dos anos de fome, Azenate, filha de Potífera, sacerdote de Om, deu a José dois filhos.

51 a nd Joseph calleth the name of the first-born Manasseh: `for, God hath made me to forget all my labour, and all the house of my father;'

Ao primeiro, José deu o nome de Manassés, dizendo: “Deus me fez esquecer todo o meu sofrimento e toda a casa de meu pai”.

52 a nd the name of the second he hath called Ephraim: `for, God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of mine affliction.'

Ao segundo filho chamou Efraim, dizendo: “Deus me fez prosperar na terra onde tenho sofrido”.

53 A nd the seven years of plenty are completed which have been in the land of Egypt,

Assim chegaram ao fim os sete anos de fartura no Egito,

54 a nd the seven years of famine begin to come, as Joseph said, and famine is in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt hath been bread;

e começaram os sete anos de fome, como José tinha predito. Houve fome em todas as terras, mas em todo o Egito havia alimento.

55 a nd all the land of Egypt is famished, and the people crieth unto Pharaoh for bread, and Pharaoh saith to all the Egyptians, `Go unto Joseph; that which he saith to you -- do.'

Quando todo o Egito começou a sofrer com a fome, o povo clamou ao faraó por comida, e este respondeu a todos os egípcios: “Dirijam-se a José e façam o que ele disser”.

56 A nd the famine has been over all the face of the land, and Joseph openeth all which have in them, and selleth to the Egyptians; and the famine is severe in the land of Egypt,

Quando a fome já se havia espalhado por toda a terra, José mandou abrir os locais de armazenamento e começou a vender trigo aos egípcios, pois a fome se agravava em todo o Egito.

57 a nd all the earth hath come to Egypt, to buy, unto Joseph, for the famine was severe in all the earth.

E de toda a terra vinha gente ao Egito para comprar trigo de José, porquanto a fome se agravava em toda parte.
