1 A nd he heareth the words of Laban's sons, saying, `Jacob hath taken all that our father hath; yea, from that which our father hath, he hath made all this honour;'

Jacó, porém, ouviu falar que os filhos de Labão estavam dizendo: “Jacó tomou tudo que o nosso pai tinha e juntou toda a sua riqueza à custa do nosso pai”.

2 a nd Jacob seeth the face of Laban, and lo, it is not with him as heretofore.

E Jacó percebeu que a atitude de Labão para com ele já não era a mesma de antes.

3 A nd Jehovah saith unto Jacob, `Turn back unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I am with thee.'

E o Senhor disse a Jacó: “Volte para a terra de seus pais e de seus parentes, e eu estarei com você”.

4 A nd Jacob sendeth and calleth for Rachel and for Leah to the field unto his flock;

Então Jacó mandou chamar Raquel e Lia para virem ao campo onde estavam os seus rebanhos,

5 a nd saith to them, `I am beholding your father's face -- that it is not towards me as heretofore, and the God of my father hath been with me,

e lhes disse: “Vejo que a atitude do seu pai para comigo não é mais a mesma, mas o Deus de meu pai tem estado comigo.

6 a nd ye -- ye have known that with all my power I have served your father,

Vocês sabem que trabalhei para seu pai com todo o empenho,

7 a nd your father hath played upon me, and hath changed my hire ten times; and God hath not suffered him to do evil with me.

mas ele tem me feito de tolo, mudando o meu salário dez vezes. Contudo, Deus não permitiu que ele me prejudicasse.

8 ` If he say thus: The speckled are thy hire, then bare all the flock speckled ones; and if he say thus: The ring-straked are thy hire, then bare all the flock ring-straked;

Se ele dizia: ‘As crias salpicadas serão o seu salário’, todos os rebanhos geravam filhotes salpicados; e se ele dizia: ‘As que têm listras serão o seu salário’, todos os rebanhos geravam filhotes com listras.

9 a nd God taketh away the substance of your father, and doth give to me.

Foi assim que Deus tirou os rebanhos de seu pai e os deu a mim.

10 ` And it cometh to pass at the time of the flock conceiving, that I lift up mine eyes and see in a dream, and lo, the he-goats, which are going up on the flock, ring-straked, speckled, and grisled;

“Na época do acasalamento, tive um sonho em que olhei e vi que os machos que fecundavam o rebanho tinham listras, eram salpicados e malhados.

11 a nd the messenger of God saith unto me in the dream, Jacob, and I say, Here I.

O Anjo de Deus me disse no sonho: ‘Jacó!’ Eu respondi: Eis-me aqui!

12 ` And He saith, Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see -- all the he-goats which are going up on the flock ring-straked, speckled, and grisled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to thee;

Então ele disse: ‘Olhe e veja que todos os machos que fecundam o rebanho têm listras, são salpicados e malhados, porque tenho visto tudo o que Labão lhe fez.

13 I the God of Bethel where thou hast anointed a standing pillar, where thou hast vowed a vow to me; now, arise, go out from this land, and turn back unto the land of thy birth.'

Sou o Deus de Betel, onde você ungiu uma coluna e me fez um voto. Saia agora desta terra e volte para a sua terra natal’ ”.

14 A nd Rachel answereth -- Leah also -- and saith to him, `Have we yet a portion and inheritance in the house of our father?

Raquel e Lia disseram a Jacó: “Temos ainda parte na herança dos bens de nosso pai?

15 h ave we not been reckoned strangers to him? for he hath sold us, and he also utterly consumeth our money;

Não nos trata ele como estrangeiras? Não apenas nos vendeu como também gastou tudo o que foi pago por nós!

16 f or all the wealth which God hath taken away from our father, it ours, and our children's; and now, all that God hath said unto thee -- do.'

Toda a riqueza que Deus tirou de nosso pai é nossa e de nossos filhos. Portanto, faça tudo quanto Deus lhe ordenou”.

17 A nd Jacob riseth, and lifteth up his sons and his wives on the camels,

Então Jacó ajudou seus filhos e suas mulheres a montar nos camelos,

18 a nd leadeth all his cattle, and all his substance which he hath acquired, the cattle of his getting, which he hath acquired in Padan-Aram, to go unto Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

e conduziu todo o seu rebanho, junto com todos os bens que havia acumulado em Padã-Arã, para ir à terra de Canaã, à casa de seu pai, Isaque.

19 A nd Laban hath gone to shear his flock, and Rachel stealeth the teraphim which her father hath;

Enquanto Labão tinha saído para tosquiar suas ovelhas, Raquel roubou de seu pai os ídolos do clã.

20 a nd Jacob deceiveth the heart of Laban the Aramaean, because he hath not declared to him that he is fleeing;

Foi assim que Jacó enganou a Labão, o arameu, fugindo sem lhe dizer nada.

21 a nd he fleeth, he and all that he hath, and riseth, and passeth over the River, and setteth his face the mount of Gilead.

Ele fugiu com tudo o que tinha e, atravessando o Eufrates, foi para os montes de Gileade. Labão Persegue Jacó

22 A nd it is told to Laban on the third day that Jacob hath fled,

Três dias depois, Labão foi informado de que Jacó tinha fugido.

23 a nd he taketh his brethren with him, and pursueth after him a journey of seven days, and overtaketh him in the mount of Gilead.

Tomando consigo os homens de sua família, perseguiu Jacó por sete dias e o alcançou nos montes de Gileade.

24 A nd God cometh in unto Laban the Aramaean in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Take heed to thyself lest thou speak with Jacob from good unto evil.'

Então, de noite, Deus veio em sonho a Labão, o arameu, e o advertiu: “Cuidado! Não diga nada a Jacó, não lhe faça promessas nem ameaças”.

25 A nd Laban overtaketh Jacob; and Jacob hath fixed his tent in the mount; and Laban with his brethren have fixed in the mount of Gilead.

Labão alcançou Jacó, que estava acampado nos montes de Gileade. Então Labão e os homens se acamparam ali também.

26 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `What hast thou done that thou dost deceive my heart, and lead away my daughters as captives of the sword?

Ele perguntou a Jacó: “Que foi que você fez? Não só me enganou como também raptou minhas filhas como se fossem prisioneiras de guerra.

27 W hy hast thou hidden thyself to flee, and deceivest me, and hast not declared to me, and I send thee away with joy and with songs, with tabret and with harp,

Por que você me enganou, fugindo em segredo, sem avisar-me? Eu teria celebrado a sua partida com alegria e cantos, ao som dos tamborins e das harpas.

28 a nd hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? -- now thou hast acted foolishly in doing;

Você sequer me deixou beijar meus netos e minhas filhas para despedir-me deles. Você foi insensato.

29 m y hand is to God to do evil with you, but the God of your father yesternight hath spoken unto me, saying, Take heed to thyself from speaking with Jacob from good unto evil.

Tenho poder para prejudicá-los; mas, na noite passada, o Deus do pai de vocês me advertiu: ‘Cuidado! Não diga nada a Jacó, não lhe faça promessas nem ameaças’.

30 ` And now, thou hast certainly gone, because thou hast been very desirous for the house of thy father; why hast thou stolen my gods?'

Agora, se você partiu porque tinha saudade da casa de seu pai, por que roubou meus deuses?”

31 A nd Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `Because I was afraid, for I said, Lest thou take violently away thy daughters from me;

Jacó respondeu a Labão: “Tive medo, pois pensei que você tiraria suas filhas de mim à força.

32 w ith whomsoever thou findest thy gods -- he doth not live; before our brethren discern for thyself what with me, and take to thyself:' and Jacob hath not known that Rachel hath stolen them.

Quanto aos seus deuses, quem for encontrado com eles não ficará vivo. Na presença dos nossos parentes, veja você mesmo se está aqui comigo qualquer coisa que lhe pertença, e, se estiver, leve-a de volta”. Ora, Jacó não sabia que Raquel os havia roubado.

33 A nd Laban goeth into the tent of Jacob, and into the tent of Leah, and into the tent of the two handmaidens, and hath not found; and he goeth out from the tent of Leah, and goeth into the tent of Rachel.

Então Labão entrou na tenda de Jacó, e nas tendas de Lia e de suas duas servas, mas nada encontrou. Depois de sair da tenda de Lia, entrou na tenda de Raquel.

34 A nd Rachel hath taken the teraphim, and putteth them in the furniture of the camel, and sitteth upon them; and Laban feeleth all the tent, and hath not found;

Raquel tinha colocado os ídolos dentro da sela do seu camelo e estava sentada em cima. Labão vasculhou toda a tenda, mas nada encontrou.

35 a nd she saith unto her father, `Let it not be displeasing in the eyes of my lord that I am not able to rise at thy presence, for the way of women on me;' and he searcheth, and hath not found the teraphim.

Raquel disse ao pai: “Não se irrite, meu senhor, por não poder me levantar em sua presença, pois estou com o fluxo das mulheres”. Ele procurou os ídolos, mas não os encontrou.

36 A nd it is displeasing to Jacob, and he striveth with Laban; and Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `What my transgression? what my sin, that thou hast burned after me?

Jacó ficou irado e queixou-se a Labão: “Qual foi meu crime? Que pecado cometi para que você me persiga furiosamente?

37 f or thou hast felt all my vessels: what hast thou found of all the vessels of thy house? set here before my brethren, and thy brethren, and they decide between us both.

Você já vasculhou tudo o que me pertence. Encontrou algo que lhe pertença? Então coloque tudo aqui na frente dos meus parentes e dos seus, e que eles julguem entre nós dois.

38 ` These twenty years I with thee: thy ewes and thy she-goats have not miscarried, and the rams of thy flock I have not eaten;

“Vinte anos estive com você. Suas ovelhas e cabras nunca abortaram, e jamais comi um só carneiro do seu rebanho.

39 t he torn I have not brought in unto thee -- I, I repay it -- from my hand thou dost seek it; I have been deceived by day, and I have been deceived by night;

Eu nunca levava a você os animais despedaçados por feras; eu mesmo assumia o prejuízo. E você pedia contas de todo animal roubado de dia ou de noite.

40 I have been: in the day consumed me hath drought, and frost by night, and wander doth my sleep from mine eyes.

O calor me consumia de dia, e o frio de noite, e o sono fugia dos meus olhos.

41 ` This to me twenty years in thy house: I have served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou changest my hire ten times;

Foi assim nos vinte anos em que fiquei em sua casa. Trabalhei para você catorze anos em troca de suas duas filhas e seis anos por seus rebanhos, e dez vezes você alterou o meu salário.

42 u nless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now empty thou hadst sent me away; mine affliction and the labour of my hands hath God seen, and reproveth yesternight.'

Se o Deus de meu pai, o Deus de Abraão, o Temor de Isaque, não estivesse comigo, certamente você me despediria de mãos vazias. Mas Deus viu o meu sofrimento e o trabalho das minhas mãos e, na noite passada, ele manifestou a sua decisão”. O Acordo entre Labão e Jacó

43 A nd Laban answereth and saith unto Jacob, `The daughters my daughters, and the sons my sons, and the flock my flock, and all that thou art seeing mine; and to my daughters -- what do I to these to-day, or to their sons whom they have born?

Labão respondeu a Jacó: “As mulheres são minhas filhas, os filhos são meus, os rebanhos são meus. Tudo o que você vê é meu. Que posso fazer por essas minhas filhas ou pelos filhos que delas nasceram?

44 a nd now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and it hath been for a witness between me and thee.'

Façamos agora, eu e você, um acordo que sirva de testemunho entre nós dois”.

45 A nd Jacob taketh a stone, and lifteth it up a standing pillar;

Então Jacó tomou uma pedra e a colocou em pé como coluna.

46 a nd Jacob saith to his brethren, `Gather stones,' and they take stones, and make a heap; and they eat there on the heap;

E disse aos seus parentes: “Juntem algumas pedras”. Eles apanharam pedras e as amontoaram. Depois comeram ali, ao lado do monte de pedras.

47 a nd Laban calleth it Jegar-Sahadutha; and Jacob hath called it Galeed.

Labão o chamou Jegar-Saaduta, e Jacó o chamou Galeede.

48 A nd Laban saith, `This heap witness between me and thee to-day;' therefore hath he called its name Galeed;

Labão disse: “Este monte de pedras é uma testemunha entre mim e você, no dia de hoje”. Por isso foi chamado Galeede.

49 M izpah also, for he said, `Jehovah doth watch between me and thee, for we are hidden one from another;

Foi também chamado Mispá, porque ele declarou: “Que o Senhor nos vigie, a mim e a você, quando estivermos separados um do outro.

50 i f thou afflict my daughters, or take wives beside my daughters -- there is no man with us -- see, God witness between me and thee.'

Se você maltratar minhas filhas ou menosprezá-las, tomando outras mulheres além delas, ainda que ninguém saiba, lembre-se de que Deus é testemunha entre mim e você”.

51 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `Lo, this heap, and lo, the standing pillar which I have cast between me and thee;

Disse ainda Labão a Jacó: “Aqui estão este monte de pedras e esta coluna que coloquei entre mim e você.

52 t his heap witness, and the standing pillar witness, that I do not pass over this heap unto thee, and that thou dost not pass over this heap and this standing pillar unto me -- for evil;

São testemunhas de que não passarei para o lado de lá para prejudicá-lo, nem você passará para o lado de cá para prejudicar-me.

53 t he God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, doth judge between us -- the God of their father,' and Jacob sweareth by the Fear of his father Isaac.

Que o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Naor, o Deus do pai deles, julgue entre nós”. Então Jacó fez um juramento em nome do Temor de seu pai Isaque.

54 A nd Jacob sacrificeth a sacrifice in the mount, and calleth to his brethren to eat bread, and they eat bread, and lodge in the mount;

Ofereceu um sacrifício no monte e chamou os parentes que lá estavam para uma refeição. Depois de comerem, passaram a noite ali.

55 a nd Laban riseth early in the morning, and kisseth his sons and his daughters, and blesseth them; and Laban goeth on, and turneth back to his place.

Na manhã seguinte, Labão beijou seus netos e suas filhas e os abençoou, e depois voltou para a sua terra.
