1 A nd he heareth the words of Laban's sons, saying, `Jacob hath taken all that our father hath; yea, from that which our father hath, he hath made all this honour;'

Jacob oía las palabras de los hijos de Labán, que decían: «Jacob ha tomado todo lo que era de nuestro padre, y de lo que era de nuestro padre ha adquirido toda esta riqueza.»

2 a nd Jacob seeth the face of Laban, and lo, it is not with him as heretofore.

Miraba también Jacob el semblante de Labán, y veía que no era para con él como había sido antes.

3 A nd Jehovah saith unto Jacob, `Turn back unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I am with thee.'

Entonces Jehová dijo a Jacob: «Vuélvete a la tierra de tus padres, a tu parentela, y yo estaré contigo.»

4 A nd Jacob sendeth and calleth for Rachel and for Leah to the field unto his flock;

Envió, pues, Jacob a llamar a Raquel y a Lea al campo donde estaban sus ovejas,

5 a nd saith to them, `I am beholding your father's face -- that it is not towards me as heretofore, and the God of my father hath been with me,

y les dijo: —Veo que vuestro padre ya no me mira como antes; pero el Dios de mi padre ha estado conmigo.

6 a nd ye -- ye have known that with all my power I have served your father,

Vosotras sabéis que con todas mis fuerzas he servido a vuestro padre;

7 a nd your father hath played upon me, and hath changed my hire ten times; and God hath not suffered him to do evil with me.

pero vuestro padre me ha engañado y me ha cambiado el salario diez veces, si bien Dios no le ha permitido que me hiciera daño.

8 ` If he say thus: The speckled are thy hire, then bare all the flock speckled ones; and if he say thus: The ring-straked are thy hire, then bare all the flock ring-straked;

Si él decía: “Los pintados serán tu salario”, entonces todas las ovejas parían pintados; y si decía: “Los listados serán tu salario”, entonces todas las ovejas parían listados.

9 a nd God taketh away the substance of your father, and doth give to me.

Así quitó Dios el ganado de vuestro padre y me lo dio a mí.

10 ` And it cometh to pass at the time of the flock conceiving, that I lift up mine eyes and see in a dream, and lo, the he-goats, which are going up on the flock, ring-straked, speckled, and grisled;

»Sucedió, cuando las ovejas estaban en celo, que alcé yo mis ojos y vi en sueños que los machos que cubrían a las hembras eran listados, pintados y abigarrados.

11 a nd the messenger of God saith unto me in the dream, Jacob, and I say, Here I.

Y me dijo el ángel de Dios en sueños: “Jacob”. Y yo respondí: “Aquí estoy.”

12 ` And He saith, Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see -- all the he-goats which are going up on the flock ring-straked, speckled, and grisled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to thee;

Entonces él dijo: “Alza ahora tus ojos, y verás que todos los machos que cubren a las hembras son listados, pintados y abigarrados, pues yo he visto todo lo que Labán te ha hecho.

13 I the God of Bethel where thou hast anointed a standing pillar, where thou hast vowed a vow to me; now, arise, go out from this land, and turn back unto the land of thy birth.'

Yo soy el Dios de Bet-el, donde tú ungiste la piedra y donde me hiciste un voto. Levántate ahora y sal de esta tierra; vuélvete a la tierra donde naciste.”

14 A nd Rachel answereth -- Leah also -- and saith to him, `Have we yet a portion and inheritance in the house of our father?

Respondieron Raquel y Lea, y le dijeron: —¿Tenemos acaso parte o heredad en la casa de nuestro padre?

15 h ave we not been reckoned strangers to him? for he hath sold us, and he also utterly consumeth our money;

¿No nos tiene ya por extrañas, pues que nos vendió y hasta se ha comido del todo lo que recibió por nosotras?

16 f or all the wealth which God hath taken away from our father, it ours, and our children's; and now, all that God hath said unto thee -- do.'

Toda la riqueza que Dios le ha quitado a nuestro padre es nuestra y de nuestros hijos; ahora, pues, haz todo lo que Dios te ha dicho. Jacob huye de Labán

17 A nd Jacob riseth, and lifteth up his sons and his wives on the camels,

Se levantó, pues, Jacob y montó a sus hijos y a sus mujeres sobre los camellos;

18 a nd leadeth all his cattle, and all his substance which he hath acquired, the cattle of his getting, which he hath acquired in Padan-Aram, to go unto Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

y puso en camino todo su ganado y todo cuanto había adquirido (el ganado de la ganancia que había obtenido en Padan-aram), para volverse a Isaac, su padre, en la tierra de Canaán.

19 A nd Laban hath gone to shear his flock, and Rachel stealeth the teraphim which her father hath;

Como Labán había ido a trasquilar sus ovejas, Raquel hurtó los ídolos de su padre;

20 a nd Jacob deceiveth the heart of Laban the Aramaean, because he hath not declared to him that he is fleeing;

y Jacob engañó a Labán, el arameo, no diciéndole que se iba.

21 a nd he fleeth, he and all that he hath, and riseth, and passeth over the River, and setteth his face the mount of Gilead.

Huyó, pues, con todo lo que tenía; se levantó, pasó el Éufrates y se dirigió a los montes de Galaad.

22 A nd it is told to Laban on the third day that Jacob hath fled,

Al tercer día le dijeron a Labán que Jacob había huido.

23 a nd he taketh his brethren with him, and pursueth after him a journey of seven days, and overtaketh him in the mount of Gilead.

Entonces Labán tomó consigo a sus parientes, y fue tras Jacob. Siete días después lo alcanzó en los montes de Galaad.

24 A nd God cometh in unto Laban the Aramaean in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Take heed to thyself lest thou speak with Jacob from good unto evil.'

Pero aquella noche vino Dios en sueños a Labán, el arameo, y le dijo: «Cuídate de no hablarle a Jacob descomedidamente.»

25 A nd Laban overtaketh Jacob; and Jacob hath fixed his tent in the mount; and Laban with his brethren have fixed in the mount of Gilead.

Alcanzó, pues, Labán a Jacob, que había fijado su tienda en el monte; y acampó Labán con sus parientes en los montes de Galaad.

26 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `What hast thou done that thou dost deceive my heart, and lead away my daughters as captives of the sword?

Entonces dijo Labán a Jacob: —¿Qué has hecho? ¿Por qué me has engañado y te has llevado a mis hijas como prisioneras de guerra?

27 W hy hast thou hidden thyself to flee, and deceivest me, and hast not declared to me, and I send thee away with joy and with songs, with tabret and with harp,

¿Por qué te escondiste para huir, y me engañaste, y no me lo hiciste saber para que yo te despidiera con alegría y con cantares, con tamborín y arpa?

28 a nd hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? -- now thou hast acted foolishly in doing;

Pues ni aun me dejaste besar a mis hijos y a mis hijas. Esta vez has obrado locamente.

29 m y hand is to God to do evil with you, but the God of your father yesternight hath spoken unto me, saying, Take heed to thyself from speaking with Jacob from good unto evil.

Poder hay en mi mano para haceros daño; pero el Dios de tu padre me habló anoche diciendo: “Cuídate de no hablarle a Jacob descomedidamente.”

30 ` And now, thou hast certainly gone, because thou hast been very desirous for the house of thy father; why hast thou stolen my gods?'

Y ya que te ibas, pues añorabas la casa de tu padre, ¿por qué hurtaste mis dioses?

31 A nd Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `Because I was afraid, for I said, Lest thou take violently away thy daughters from me;

Respondió Jacob a Labán: —Porque tuve miedo, pues pensé que quizá me quitarías por fuerza tus hijas.

32 w ith whomsoever thou findest thy gods -- he doth not live; before our brethren discern for thyself what with me, and take to thyself:' and Jacob hath not known that Rachel hath stolen them.

Aquel en cuyo poder halles tus dioses, ¡que no viva! Reconoce delante de nuestros hermanos lo que yo tenga tuyo, y llévatelo. Ciertamente Jacob no sabía que Raquel los había hurtado.

33 A nd Laban goeth into the tent of Jacob, and into the tent of Leah, and into the tent of the two handmaidens, and hath not found; and he goeth out from the tent of Leah, and goeth into the tent of Rachel.

Entró Labán en la tienda de Jacob, en la tienda de Lea y en la tienda de las dos siervas, y no los halló. Salió de la tienda de Lea y entró en la tienda de Raquel.

34 A nd Rachel hath taken the teraphim, and putteth them in the furniture of the camel, and sitteth upon them; and Laban feeleth all the tent, and hath not found;

Pero Raquel tomó los ídolos y los puso en la montura de un camello, y se sentó sobre ellos. Labán rebuscó por toda la tienda y no los encontró.

35 a nd she saith unto her father, `Let it not be displeasing in the eyes of my lord that I am not able to rise at thy presence, for the way of women on me;' and he searcheth, and hath not found the teraphim.

Entonces ella dijo a su padre: —No se enoje mi señor, si no me puedo levantar delante de ti, pues estoy con el período de las mujeres. Como Labán siguió rebuscando sin hallar los ídolos,

36 A nd it is displeasing to Jacob, and he striveth with Laban; and Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `What my transgression? what my sin, that thou hast burned after me?

Jacob se enojó y riñó con Labán, diciéndole: —¿Qué falta cometí? ¿Cuál es mi pecado, para que con tanto ardor hayas venido en mi persecución?

37 f or thou hast felt all my vessels: what hast thou found of all the vessels of thy house? set here before my brethren, and thy brethren, and they decide between us both.

Al registrar todas mis cosas, ¿qué has hallado de todos los enseres de tu casa? Ponlo aquí delante de mis hermanos y de los tuyos, y juzguen entre nosotros.

38 ` These twenty years I with thee: thy ewes and thy she-goats have not miscarried, and the rams of thy flock I have not eaten;

Estos veinte años he estado contigo; tus ovejas y tus cabras nunca abortaron, ni yo comí carnero de tus ovejas.

39 t he torn I have not brought in unto thee -- I, I repay it -- from my hand thou dost seek it; I have been deceived by day, and I have been deceived by night;

Nunca te traje lo arrebatado por las fieras: yo pagaba el daño; lo hurtado, así de día como de noche, a mí me lo cobrabas.

40 I have been: in the day consumed me hath drought, and frost by night, and wander doth my sleep from mine eyes.

De día me consumía el calor y de noche la helada, y el sueño huía de mis ojos.

41 ` This to me twenty years in thy house: I have served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou changest my hire ten times;

Así he estado veinte años en tu casa: catorce años te serví por tus dos hijas y seis años por tu ganado, y has cambiado mi salario diez veces.

42 u nless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now empty thou hadst sent me away; mine affliction and the labour of my hands hath God seen, and reproveth yesternight.'

Si el Dios de mi padre, Dios de Abraham y Terror de Isaac, no estuviera conmigo, de cierto me enviarías ahora con las manos vacías; pero Dios ha visto mi aflicción y el trabajo de mis manos, y anoche te reprendió.

43 A nd Laban answereth and saith unto Jacob, `The daughters my daughters, and the sons my sons, and the flock my flock, and all that thou art seeing mine; and to my daughters -- what do I to these to-day, or to their sons whom they have born?

Respondió Labán y dijo a Jacob: —Las hijas son hijas mías; los hijos, hijos míos son; las ovejas son mis ovejas, y todo lo que tú ves es mío: ¿qué les puedo yo hacer hoy a estas mis hijas, o a los hijos que ellas han dado a luz?

44 a nd now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and it hath been for a witness between me and thee.'

Ven ahora, pues, y hagamos pacto tú y yo, y sirva por testimonio entre nosotros dos.

45 A nd Jacob taketh a stone, and lifteth it up a standing pillar;

Entonces Jacob tomó una piedra y la levantó por señal.

46 a nd Jacob saith to his brethren, `Gather stones,' and they take stones, and make a heap; and they eat there on the heap;

Y dijo Jacob a sus hermanos: —Recoged piedras. Tomaron, pues, piedras e hicieron un montón, y comieron allí sobre aquel montón.

47 a nd Laban calleth it Jegar-Sahadutha; and Jacob hath called it Galeed.

Labán lo llamó «Jegar Sahaduta»; y Jacob lo llamó «Galaad».

48 A nd Laban saith, `This heap witness between me and thee to-day;' therefore hath he called its name Galeed;

Entonces Labán dijo: —Este montón de piedras es testigo hoy entre nosotros dos. Por eso fue llamado su nombre Galaad;

49 M izpah also, for he said, `Jehovah doth watch between me and thee, for we are hidden one from another;

y también Mizpa, por cuanto dijo: —Vigile Jehová entre tú y yo cuando nos apartemos el uno del otro.

50 i f thou afflict my daughters, or take wives beside my daughters -- there is no man with us -- see, God witness between me and thee.'

Si maltratas a mis hijas o si tomas otras mujeres además de mis hijas, aunque nadie esté con nosotros, mira, Dios es testigo entre nosotros dos.

51 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `Lo, this heap, and lo, the standing pillar which I have cast between me and thee;

Dijo más Labán a Jacob: —Mira este montón de piedras y esta señal que he erigido entre tú y yo.

52 t his heap witness, and the standing pillar witness, that I do not pass over this heap unto thee, and that thou dost not pass over this heap and this standing pillar unto me -- for evil;

Testigo sea este montón de piedras y testigo sea esta señal, que ni yo pasaré de este montón de piedras para ir contra ti ni tú pasarás de este montón ni de esta señal para ir contra mí, para nada malo.

53 t he God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, doth judge between us -- the God of their father,' and Jacob sweareth by the Fear of his father Isaac.

Que el Dios del padre de nuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham y el Dios de Nacor, juzgue entre nosotros. Jacob juró por aquel a quien temía Isaac, su padre.

54 A nd Jacob sacrificeth a sacrifice in the mount, and calleth to his brethren to eat bread, and they eat bread, and lodge in the mount;

Luego Jacob inmoló víctimas en el monte, y llamó a sus hermanos a comer pan. Ellos comieron pan y durmieron aquella noche en el monte.

55 a nd Laban riseth early in the morning, and kisseth his sons and his daughters, and blesseth them; and Laban goeth on, and turneth back to his place.

Se levantó Labán de mañana y besó a sus hijos y a sus hijas; los bendijo, partió y se volvió a su lugar.
