1 D oth not wisdom call? And understanding give forth her voice?

¿Acaso no clama la Sabiduría y alza su voz la inteligencia?

2 A t the head of high places by the way, Between the paths she hath stood,

Apostada en las alturas junto al camino, en las encrucijadas de las veredas,

3 A t the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,

junto a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, a la entrada de las puertas da voces:

4 ` Unto you, O men, I call, And my voice unto the sons of men.

¡A vosotros, hombres, llamo; mi voz dirijo a los hijos de los hombres!

5 U nderstand, ye simple ones, prudence, And ye fools, understand the heart,

«Ingenuos, aprended discreción; y vosotros, necios, entrad en cordura.

6 H earken, for noble things I speak, And the opening of my lips uprightness.

Escuchad, porque voy a decir cosas excelentes, voy a abrir mis labios para cosas rectas.

7 F or truth doth my mouth utter, And an abomination to my lips wickedness.

Porque mi boca dice la verdad, y mis labios abominan la impiedad.

8 I n righteousness all the sayings of my mouth, Nothing in them is froward and perverse.

Justas son todas las razones de mi boca: nada hay en ellas perverso ni torcido;

9 A ll of them plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.

todas son claras para el que entiende y rectas para los que han hallado sabiduría.

10 R eceive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.

Recibid mi enseñanza antes que la plata, y ciencia antes que el oro puro;

11 F or better wisdom than rubies, Yea, all delights are not comparable with it.

porque mejor es la sabiduría que las perlas, y no hay cosa deseable que se le pueda comparar.» Discurso de la Sabiduría

12 I , wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And a knowledge of devices I find out.

«Yo, la Sabiduría, habito con la cordura y tengo la ciencia de los consejos.

13 T he fear of Jehovah to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a froward mouth, I have hated.

El temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal: yo aborrezco la soberbia, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa.

14 M ine counsel and substance, I understanding, I have might.

Conmigo están el consejo y el buen juicio. Yo soy la inteligencia, y mío es el poder.

15 B y me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,

Por mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes ejercen la justicia.

16 B y me do chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of the earth.

Por mí dominan los príncipes, y los gobernadores juzgan la tierra.

17 I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly do find me.

Yo amo a los que me aman, y me hallan los que temprano me buscan.

18 W ealth and honour with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.

Las riquezas y el honor me acompañan; los bienes permanentes y la justicia.

19 B etter my fruit than gold, even fine gold, And mine increase than choice silver.

Mejor es mi fruto que el oro, que el oro refinado; y mis beneficios mejores que la plata pura.

20 I n a path of righteousness I cause to walk, In midst of paths of judgment,

Por vereda de justicia guiaré, por en medio de sendas de juicio,

21 T o cause my lovers to inherit substance, Yea, their treasures I fill.

para hacer que los que me aman tengan su heredad y que yo llene sus tesoros.

22 J ehovah possessed me -- the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.

»Jehová me poseía en el principio, ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.

23 F rom the age I was anointed, from the first, From former states of the earth.

Eternamente tuve la primacía, desde el principio, antes de la tierra.

24 I n there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy waters,

Fui engendrada antes que los abismos, antes que existieran las fuentes de las muchas aguas.

25 B efore mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.

Antes que los montes fueran formados, antes que los collados, ya había sido yo engendrada,

26 W hile He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.

cuando él aún no había hecho la tierra, ni los campos, ni el principio del polvo del mundo.

27 I n His preparing the heavens I there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,

Cuando formaba los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando trazaba el círculo sobre la faz del abismo,

28 I n His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,

cuando afirmaba los cielos arriba, cuando afirmaba las fuentes del abismo,

29 I n His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,

cuando fijaba los límites al mar para que las aguas no transgredieran su mandato, cuando establecía los fundamentos de la tierra,

30 T hen I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight -- day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,

con él estaba yo ordenándolo todo. Yo era su delicia cada día y me recreaba delante de él en todo tiempo.

31 R ejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights with the sons of men.

Me regocijaba con la parte habitada de su tierra, pues mis delicias están con los hijos de los hombres.

32 A nd now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.

»Ahora pues, hijos, escuchadme: ¡Bienaventurados los que guardan mis caminos!

33 H ear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.

Atended el consejo, sed sabios y no lo menospreciéis.

34 O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.

Bienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas cada día, guardando los postes de mis puertas,

35 F or whoso is finding me, hath found life, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.

porque el que me halle, hallará la vida y alcanzará el favor de Jehová;

36 A nd whoso is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!

pero el que peca contra mí, se defrauda a sí mismo, pues todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte».
