1 O f man arrangements of the heart, And from Jehovah an answer of the tongue.

Del hombre es hacer planes en el corazón; de Jehová es poner la respuesta en la lengua.

2 A ll the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering the spirits.

Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios en su propia opinión, pero Jehová es quien pesa los espíritus.

3 R oll unto Jehovah thy works, And established are thy purposes,

Encomienda a Jehová tus obras y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.

4 A ll things hath Jehovah wrought for Himself, And also the wicked for a day of evil.

Todas las cosas ha hecho Jehová para sus propios fines, incluso al malvado, para el día malo.

5 A n abomination to Jehovah every proud one of heart, Hand to hand he is not acquitted.

Abominable es para Jehová todo altivo de corazón; ciertamente no quedará impune.

6 I n kindness and truth pardoned is iniquity, And in the fear of Jehovah Turn thou aside from evil.

Con misericordia y verdad se corrige el pecado; con el temor de Jehová los hombres se apartan del mal.

7 W hen a man's ways please Jehovah, even his enemies, He causeth to be at peace with him.

Cuando los caminos del hombre son agradables a Jehová, aun a sus enemigos los pone en paz con él.

8 B etter a little with righteousness, Than abundance of increase without justice.

Mejor es lo poco con justicia que las muchas ganancias sin derecho.

9 T he heart of man deviseth his way, And Jehovah establisheth his step.

El corazón del hombre se propone un camino, pero Jehová endereza sus pasos.

10 A n oath on the lips of a king, In judgment his mouth trespasseth not.

Oráculo hay en los labios del rey y su boca no prevarica en el juicio.

11 A just beam and balances Jehovah's, His work all the stones of the bag.

Las balanzas y el peso justos son de Jehová; obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.

12 A n abomination to kings doing wickedness, For by righteousness is a throne established.

Abominable es que los reyes cometan maldad, porque con la justicia se afirma el trono.

13 T he delight of kings righteous lips, And whoso is speaking uprightly he loveth,

Los labios justos complacen a los reyes; estos aman al que habla con rectitud.

14 T he fury of a king messengers of death, And a wise man pacifieth it.

La ira del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero el hombre sabio la evita.

15 I n the light of a king's face life, And his good-will as a cloud of the latter rain.

En la alegría del rostro del rey está la vida, y su favor es como nube de lluvia tardía.

16 T o get wisdom -- how much better than gold, And to get understanding to be chosen than silver!

Mejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro fino, y adquirir inteligencia vale más que la plata.

17 A highway of the upright, `Turn from evil,' Whoso is preserving his soul is watching his way.

El camino de los rectos se aparta del mal; su vida protege el que guarda su camino.

18 B efore destruction pride, And before stumbling -- a haughty spirit.'

Antes del quebranto está la soberbia, y antes de la caída, la altivez de espíritu.

19 B etter is humility of spirit with the poor, Than to apportion spoil with the proud.

Mejor es humillar el espíritu con los humildes que repartir el botín con los soberbios.

20 T he wise in any matter findeth good, And whoso is trusting in Jehovah, O his happiness.

El entendido en la palabra hallará el bien; el que confía en Jehová es bienaventurado.

21 T o the wise in heart is called, `Intelligent,' And sweetness of lips increaseth learning.

El sabio de corazón es llamado prudente, y la dulzura de labios aumenta el saber.

22 A fountain of life understanding to its possessors, The instruction of fools is folly.

Manantial de vida es el entendimiento para el que lo posee, pero la erudición de los necios es pura necedad.

23 T he heart of the wise causeth his mouth to act wisely, And by his lips he increaseth learning,

El corazón del sabio hace prudente su boca y añade gracia a sus labios.

24 S ayings of pleasantness a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and healing to the bone.

Panal de miel son los dichos suaves, suavidad para el alma y medicina para los huesos.

25 T here is a way right before a man, And its latter end -- ways of death.

Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho, pero es camino que lleva a la muerte.

26 A labouring man hath laboured for himself, For his mouth hath caused to bend over it.

El ansia del que trabaja, trabaja para él: su boca lo estimula.

27 A worthless man is preparing evil, And on his lips -- as a burning fire.

El hombre perverso cava en busca del mal; en sus labios hay como una llama de fuego.

28 A froward man sendeth forth contention, A tale-bearer is separating a familiar friend.

El hombre perverso promueve contienda, y el chismoso separa a los mejores amigos.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, And hath causeth him to go in a way not good.

El hombre malo lisonjea a su prójimo y lo hace andar por mal camino;

30 C onsulting his eyes to devise froward things, Moving his lips he hath accomplished evil.

cierra los ojos para pensar perversidades, mueve los labios, comete el mal.

31 A crown of beauty grey hairs, In the way of righteousness it is found.

Corona de honra es la vejez que se encuentra en el camino de la justicia.

32 B etter the slow to anger than the mighty, And the ruler over his spirit than he who is taking a city.

Mejor es el que tarda en airarse que el fuerte, el que domina su espíritu que el conquistador de una ciudad.

33 I nto the centre is the lot cast, And from Jehovah all its judgment!

Las suertes se echan en el regazo, pero la decisión es de Jehová.
