1 W hy, Jehovah, dost Thou stand at a distance? Thou dost hide in times of adversity,

¿Por qué estás lejos, Jehová, y te escondes en el tiempo de la tribulación?

2 T hrough the pride of the wicked, Is the poor inflamed, They are caught in devices that they devised.

Con arrogancia, el malo persigue al pobre; será atrapado en las trampas que ha preparado.

3 B ecause the wicked hath boasted Of the desire of his soul, And a dishonest gainer he hath blessed, He hath despised Jehovah.

El malo se jacta del deseo de su alma, bendice al codicioso y desprecia a Jehová;

4 T he wicked according to the height of his face, inquireth not. `God is not!' all his devices.

el malo, por la altivez de su rostro, no busca a Dios; no hay Dios en ninguno de sus pensamientos.

5 P ain do his ways at all times, On high Thy judgments before him, All his adversaries -- he puffeth at them.

Sus caminos son torcidos en todo tiempo; tus juicios los tiene muy lejos de su vista; a todos sus adversarios desprecia.

6 H e hath said in his heart, `I am not moved,' To generation and generation not in evil.

Dice en su corazón: «No caeré jamás; nunca me alcanzará la desgracia.»

7 O f oaths his mouth is full, And deceits, and fraud: Under his tongue perverseness and iniquity,

Llena está su boca de maldición y de engaños y fraude; debajo de su lengua hay insulto y maldad.

8 H e doth sit in an ambush of the villages, In secret places he doth slay the innocent. His eyes for the afflicted watch secretly,

Se sienta al acecho cerca de las aldeas; en escondrijos mata al inocente. Sus ojos están acechando al desvalido,

9 H e lieth in wait in a secret place, as a lion in a covert. He lieth in wait to catch the poor, He catcheth the poor, drawing him into his net.

acecha en oculto, como el león desde su cueva; acecha para atrapar al pobre; atrapa al pobre trayéndolo a su red.

10 H e is bruised -- he boweth down, Fallen by his mighty ones hath the afflicted.

Se encoge, se agacha, y en sus fuertes garras caen muchos desdichados.

11 H e said in his heart, `God hath forgotten, He hath hid His face, He hath never seen.'

Dice en su corazón: «Dios lo olvida; cubre su rostro, nunca ve nada.»

12 A rise, O Jehovah! O God, lift up Thy hand! Forget not the humble.

¡Levántate, Jehová Dios, alza tu mano! ¡No te olvides de los pobres!

13 W herefore hath the wicked despised God? He hath said in his heart, `It is not required.'

¿Por qué desprecia el malo a Dios? En su corazón ha dicho: «Tú no habrás de pedir cuentas.»

14 T hou hast seen, For Thou perverseness and anger beholdest; By giving into Thy hand, On Thee doth the afflicted leave, Of the fatherless Thou hast been an helper.

Tú lo has visto, porque miras el trabajo y la vejación, para dar la recompensa con tu mano; a ti se acoge el desvalido; tú eres el amparo del huérfano.

15 B reak the arm of the wicked and the evil, Seek out his wickedness, find none;

¡Rompe el brazo del inicuo y castiga la maldad del malo hasta que no halles ninguna!

16 J ehovah king to the age, and for ever, The nations have perished out of His land!

Jehová es Rey eternamente y para siempre; de su tierra desaparecerán las naciones.

17 T he desire of the humble Thou hast heard, O Jehovah. Thou preparest their heart; Thou causest Thine ear to attend,

El deseo de los humildes oíste, Jehová; tú los animas y les prestas atención.

18 T o judge the fatherless and bruised: He addeth no more to oppress -- man of the earth!

Tú haces justicia al huérfano y al oprimido, a fin de que no vuelva más a hacer violencia el hombre de la tierra.
