1 A nd Joshua riseth early in the morning, and they journey from Shittim, and come in unto the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel, and they lodge there before they pass over.

Josué se levantó de mañana, partió de Sitim con todos los hijos de Israel y llegaron hasta el Jordán y reposaron allí antes de pasarlo.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of three days, that the authorities pass over into the midst of the camp,

Después de tres días, los oficiales recorrieron el campamento

3 a nd command the people, saying, `When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then ye journey from your place, and have gone after it;

y ordenaron al pueblo: «Cuando veáis el Arca del pacto de Jehová, vuestro Dios, y a los levitas sacerdotes que la llevan, saldréis del lugar donde estáis y marcharéis detrás de ella,

4 o nly, a distance is between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; ye do not come near unto it, so that ye know the way in which ye go, for ye have not passed over in the way heretofore.'

a fin de que sepáis el camino por donde habéis de ir, por cuanto vosotros no habéis pasado nunca antes por este camino. Pero que haya entre vosotros y el Arca una distancia como de dos mil codos; no os acercaréis a ella.»

5 A nd Joshua saith unto the people, `Sanctify yourselves, for to-morrow doth Jehovah do in your midst wonders.'

Josué dijo al pueblo: «Santificaos, porque Jehová hará mañana maravillas entre vosotros.»

6 A nd Joshua speaketh unto the priests, saying, `Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people;' and they take up the ark of the covenant, and go before the people.

Después dijo a los sacerdotes: «Tomad el Arca del pacto y pasad delante del pueblo.» Ellos tomaron el Arca del pacto y fueron delante del pueblo.

7 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `This day I begin to make thee great in the eyes of all Israel, so that they know that as I was with Moses I am with thee;

Entonces Jehová dijo a Josué: «Desde este día comenzaré a engrandecerte ante los ojos de todo Israel, para que entiendan que como estuve con Moisés, así estaré contigo.

8 a nd thou, thou dost command the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come unto the extremity of the waters of the Jordan -- in the Jordan ye stand.'

Tú, pues, mandarás esto a los sacerdotes que llevan el Arca del pacto: “Cuando hayáis llegado a la orilla del agua del Jordán, os detendréis en el Jordán.”»

9 A nd Joshua saith unto the sons of Israel, `Come nigh hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God;

Josué dijo a los hijos de Israel: «Acercaos y escuchad las palabras de Jehová, vuestro Dios.»

10 a nd Joshua saith, `By this ye know that the living God in your midst, and He doth certainly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite:

Y añadió Josué: «En esto conoceréis que el Dios viviente está en medio de vosotros, y que él echará de delante de vosotros al cananeo, al heteo, al heveo, al ferezeo, al gergeseo, al amorreo y al jebuseo:

11 l o, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is passing over before you into Jordan;

El Arca del pacto del Señor de toda la tierra pasará delante de vosotros en medio del Jordán.

12 a nd now, take for you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man -- one man for a tribe;

Tomad, pues, ahora doce hombres de las tribus de Israel, uno de cada tribu.

13 a nd it hath been, at the resting of the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of Jehovah, Lord of all the earth, in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan are cut off -- the waters which are coming down from above -- and they stand -- one heap.'

Y cuando las plantas de los pies de los sacerdotes que llevan el Arca de Jehová, Señor de toda la tierra, se mojen en las aguas del Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se dividirán, porque las aguas que vienen de arriba se detendrán formando un muro.»

14 A nd it cometh to pass, in the journeying of the people from their tents to pass over the Jordan, and of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

Aconteció que cuando el pueblo partió de sus tiendas para pasar el Jordán, con los sacerdotes delante del pueblo llevando el Arca del pacto,

15 a nd at those bearing the ark coming in unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark have been dipped in the extremity of the waters (and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest) --

y cuando los que llevaban el Arca entraron en el Jordán y los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el Arca se mojaron a la orilla del agua (porque el Jordán suele desbordarse por todas sus orillas todo el tiempo de la siega),

16 t hat the waters stand; those coming down from above have risen -- one heap, very far above Adam the city, which at the side of Zaretan; and those going down by the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, have been completely cut off; and the people have passed through over-against Jericho;

las aguas que venían de arriba se amontonaron bien lejos de la ciudad de Adam, que está al lado de Saretán, y las que descendían al mar del Arabá, al Mar Salado, quedaron separadas por completo, mientras el pueblo pasaba en dirección a Jericó.

17 a nd the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stand on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan -- established, and all Israel are passing over on dry ground till that all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan.

Pero los sacerdotes que llevaban el Arca del pacto de Jehová, permanecieron firmes sobre suelo seco en medio del Jordán, hasta que todo el pueblo acabó de pasar el Jordán. Y todo Israel pasó por el cauce seco.
