1 A nd Joshua riseth early in the morning, and they journey from Shittim, and come in unto the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel, and they lodge there before they pass over.

Тогава Исус стана рано; и като вдигнаха стана от Ситим, той и всичките израелтяни, дойдоха до Йордан и там пренощуваха, преди да преминат реката.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of three days, that the authorities pass over into the midst of the camp,

А след три дни военачалниците преминаха през стана

3 a nd command the people, saying, `When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then ye journey from your place, and have gone after it;

и заповядаха на народа: Когато видите ковчега с плочите на завета на Господа, вашия Бог, и че свещениците левити го носят, тогава и вие да се вдигнете от местата си и да вървите след него.

4 o nly, a distance is between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; ye do not come near unto it, so that ye know the way in which ye go, for ye have not passed over in the way heretofore.'

Но между вас и него да има около две хиляди лакътя разстояние; не се приближавайте към него, за да знаете пътя, по който трябва да вървите; защото досега не сте минавали по този път.

5 A nd Joshua saith unto the people, `Sanctify yourselves, for to-morrow doth Jehovah do in your midst wonders.'

Исус каза още на народа: Осветете се, защото утре Господ ще извърши сред вас чудни дела.

6 A nd Joshua speaketh unto the priests, saying, `Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people;' and they take up the ark of the covenant, and go before the people.

Исус говорѝ и на свещениците: Вдигнете ковчега с плочите на завета и минете пред народа. И така, те вдигнаха ковчега на завета и тръгнаха пред народа.

7 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `This day I begin to make thee great in the eyes of all Israel, so that they know that as I was with Moses I am with thee;

И Господ каза на Исус: Днес започвам да те прославям пред целия Израел, за да познаят, че както бях с Моисей, така ще бъда и с теб.

8 a nd thou, thou dost command the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come unto the extremity of the waters of the Jordan -- in the Jordan ye stand.'

А ти заповядай на свещениците, които носят ковчега с плочите на завета, следното: Когато стигнете до брега на Йордан, влезте и застанете във водата.

9 A nd Joshua saith unto the sons of Israel, `Come nigh hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God;

Тогава Исус каза на израелтяните: Приближете се тук и слушайте думите на Господа, вашия Бог.

10 a nd Joshua saith, `By this ye know that the living God in your midst, and He doth certainly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite:

Исус каза още: По това ще познаете, че живият Бог е сред вас и че ще прогони пред вас ханаанците, хетите, евейците, ферезейците, гергесейците, аморейците и йевусейците.

11 l o, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is passing over before you into Jordan;

Ето, ковчегът на завета на Господа на цялата земя върви пред вас през Йордан.

12 a nd now, take for you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man -- one man for a tribe;

И така, сега изберете дванадесет мъже от Израелевите племена, по един мъж от всяко племе.

13 a nd it hath been, at the resting of the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of Jehovah, Lord of all the earth, in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan are cut off -- the waters which are coming down from above -- and they stand -- one heap.'

И щом стъпят във водата на Йордан краката на свещениците, които носят ковчега на Йехова, Господа на целия свят, Йорданската вода, водата, която слиза отгоре, ще се раздели и ще застане на куп.

14 A nd it cometh to pass, in the journeying of the people from their tents to pass over the Jordan, and of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

И така, народът тръгна от шатрите си, за да преминат Йордан, следвайки свещениците, които носеха ковчега на завета и вървяха отпред.

15 a nd at those bearing the ark coming in unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark have been dipped in the extremity of the waters (and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest) --

Когато носачите на ковчега стигнаха до Йордан и краката на свещениците се намокриха в края на водата (защото Йордан наводнява всичките си брегове през цялото време на жътвата),

16 t hat the waters stand; those coming down from above have risen -- one heap, very far above Adam the city, which at the side of Zaretan; and those going down by the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, have been completely cut off; and the people have passed through over-against Jericho;

водата, която слизаше отгоре, се спря и се издигна на куп много надалеч, при град Адам, който е край Царетан; а водата, която течеше надолу към полското море, т. е. Соленото море, изтече и пресъхна. Тогава народът премина реката срещу Йерихон.

17 a nd the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stand on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan -- established, and all Israel are passing over on dry ground till that all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan.

А свещениците, които носеха ковчега на Господния завет, стояха твърдо на сухо сред Йордан; и целият Израел преминаваха по сухо, докато целият народ премина Йордан.
