1 A nd the Philistines have fought with Israel, and the men of Israel flee from the face of the Philistines, and fall wounded in mount Gilboa,

А филистимците воюваха против Израел; и Израелевите мъже побегнаха от филистимците и паднаха убити на хълма Гелвуе.

2 a nd the Philistines pursue after Saul, and after his sons, and the Philistines smite Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-Shua, sons of Saul.

При преследването филистимците настигнаха Саул и синовете му; и филистимците убиха Сауловите синове Йонатан, Авинадав и Мелхисуй.

3 A nd the battle heavy on Saul, and those shooting with the bow find him, and he is wounded by those shooting,

И като се засилваше боят против Саул, стрелците го улучиха и той беше наранен от стрелците.

4 a nd Saul saith unto the bearer of his weapons, `Draw thy sword, and pierce me with it, lest these uncircumcised come -- and have abused me.' And the bearer of his weapons hath not been willing, for he feareth exceedingly, and Saul taketh the sword, and falleth upon it;

Тогава Саул каза на оръженосеца си: Изтегли меча си и ме прободи с него, да не би да дойдат тези необрязани и се поругаят с мене. Но оръженосецът му не искаше, защото много се боеше. Затова Саул взе меча си и падна върху него.

5 a nd the bearer of his weapons seeth that Saul dead, and falleth, he also, on the sword, and dieth;

Оръженосецът му, като видя, че Саул умря, падна и той на меча си и умря.

6 a nd Saul dieth, and his three sons, and all his house -- together they died.

Така умряха Саул и тримата му синове; и целият му дом умря едновременно.

7 A nd all the men of Israel who in the valley see that they have fled, and that Saul and his sons have died, and they forsake their cities and flee, and the Philistines come and dwell in them.

Тогава всички Израелеви мъже, които бяха в долината, като видяха, че побегнаха и че Саул и синовете му умряха, напуснаха градовете си и побегнаха; а филистимците дойдоха и се заселиха в тях.

8 A nd it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the Philistines come to strip the wounded, and find Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa,

А на следващия ден, когато филистимците дойдоха да съблекат убитите, намериха Саул и синовете му паднали на хълма Гелвуе.

9 a nd strip him, and bear away his head, and his weapons, and send into the land of the Philistines round about to proclaim tidings their idols and the people,

И като го съблякоха, взеха главата и оръжията му и ги разпратиха наоколо по филистимската земя, за да разнесат известие на идолите си и на народа.

10 a nd put his weapons in the house of their gods, and his skull they have fixed in the house of Dagon.

Положиха оръжието му в храма на боговете си, а главата му приковаха в Дагоновото капище.

11 A nd all Jabesh-Gilead hear of all that the Philistines have done to Saul,

А когато всичките жители на Явис-галаад чуха всичко, което филистимците сторили на Саул,

12 a nd all the men of valour rise and bear away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and bring them in to Jabesh, and bury their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fast seven days.

всички храбри мъже станаха и вдигнаха тялото на Саул и телата на синовете му, донесоха ги в Явис и погребаха костите им под дъба на Явис; и постиха седем дни.

13 A nd Saul dieth because of his trespass that he trespassed against Jehovah, against the word of Jehovah that he kept not, and also for asking at a familiar spirit -- to inquire, --

Така умря Саул заради престъплението, което извърши против Господа, против Господнето слово, което не опази, а още - понеже се беше съвещавал със запитвачка на зли духове, за да се допита до тях,

14 a nd he inquired not at Jehovah, and He putteth him to death, and turneth round the kingdom to David son of Jesse.

а до Господа не се допита, затова Той го умъртви и обърна царството към Давид, Есеевия син.
