1 A nd Dinah, daughter of Leah, whom she hath borne to Jacob, goeth out to look on the daughters of the land,

А Дина, дъщеря на Лия, която тя беше родила на Яков, излезе да види дъщерите на онази земя.

2 a nd Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, a prince of the land, seeth her, and taketh her, and lieth with her, and humbleth her;

А Сихем, син на евееца Емор, местният владетел, като я видя, взе я, лежа с нея и я изнасили.

3 a nd his soul cleaveth to Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and he loveth the young person, and speaketh unto the heart of the young person.

И душата му се привърза към Якововата дъщеря Дина; той обикна момата и ѝ говорѝ по сърцето ѝ.

4 A nd Shechem speaketh unto Hamor his father, saying, `Take for me this damsel for a wife.'

Сихем говорѝ и на баща си Емор: Вземи ми тази мома за жена.

5 A nd Jacob hath heard that he hath defiled Dinah his daughter, and his sons were with his cattle in the field, and Jacob kept silent till their coming.

А Яков чу, че той осквернил дъщеря му Дина, но понеже синовете му бяха с добитъка му на полето, Яков си замълча до завръщането им.

6 A nd Hamor, father of Shechem, goeth out unto Jacob to speak with him;

Тогава Емор, Сихемовият баща, отиде при Яков, за да говори с него.

7 a nd the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard, and the men grieve themselves, and it very displeasing to them, for folly he hath done against Israel, to lie with the daughter of Jacob -- and so it is not done.

А като чуха за станалото, Якововите синове дойдоха от полето; и тези мъже се наскърбиха и много се разгневиха затова, че той извършил безчестие на Израел, като изнасилил Якововата дъщеря - нещо, което не трябваше да стане.

8 A nd Hamor speaketh with them, saying, `Shechem, my son, his soul hath cleaved to your daughter; give her, I pray you, to him for a wife,

И така, Емор разговаряше с тях, като им казваше: Душата на сина ми Сихем се е привързала към дъщеря ви; дайте му я, моля, за жена.

9 a nd join ye in marriage with us; your daughters ye give to us, and our daughters ye take to yourselves,

И се сродете с нас; давайте на нас вашите дъщери и вземайте за вас нашите дъщери.

10 a nd with us ye dwell, and the land is before you; dwell ye and trade it, and have possessions in it.'

Живейте с нас и земята е пред вас; настанете се и търгувайте в нея, и придобивайте владения в нея.

11 A nd Shechem saith unto her father, and unto her brethren, `Let me find grace in your eyes, and that which ye say unto me, I give;

Също и Сихем каза на баща ѝ и на братята ѝ: Само да придобия вашето благоволение, каквото ми кажете, ще дам.

12 m ultiply on me exceedingly dowry and gift, and I give as ye say unto me, and give to me the young person for a wife.'

Искайте от мене вено и дарове, колкото желаете, ще дам, според както ми кажете; само ми дайте момата за жена.

13 A nd the sons of Jacob answer Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and they speak (because he defiled Dinah their sister),

А Якововите синове отговориха на Сихем и на баща му Емор с лукавство, понеже той беше осквернил сестра им Дина; и им казаха:

14 a nd say unto them, `We are not able to do this thing, to give our sister to one who hath a foreskin: for it a reproach to us.

Не можем да направим това, да дадем сестра си на необрязан човек, защото това би било укор за нас.

15 ` Only for this we consent to you; if ye be as we, to have every male of you circumcised,

Само при това условие ще се съгласим с вас: ако вие станете като нас, като обрязвате всеки от мъжки пол между вас,

16 t hen we have given our daughters to you, and your daughters we take to ourselves, and we have dwelt with you, and have become one people;

тогава ще даваме нашите дъщери на вас и ще вземаме вашите дъщери за нас, ще живеем с вас и ще станем един народ.

17 a nd if ye hearken not unto us to be circumcised, then we have taken our daughter, and have gone.'

Но ако не приемете условието ни да се обрежете, тогава ще вземем дъщеря си и ще си отидем.

18 A nd their words are good in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, Hamor's son;

И това, което казаха, допадна на Емор и на Еморовия син Сихем.

19 a nd the young man delayed not to do the thing, for he had delight in Jacob's daughter, and he is honourable above all the house of his father.

Момъкът не се забави да направи това, защото много обичаше Якововата дъщеря; и в целия му бащин дом той беше най-почтен.

20 A nd Hamor cometh -- Shechem his son also -- unto the gate of their city, and they speak unto the men of their city, saying,

Тогава Емор и синът му Сихем дойдоха при портата на града си и говориха на градските мъже:

21 ` These men are peaceable with us; then let them dwell in the land, and trade it; and the land, lo, wide before them; their daughters let us take to ourselves for wives, and our daughters give to them.

Тези хора са миролюбиви към нас, затова нека живеят в земята и търгуват в нея, защото, вижте, земята е достатъчно пространна и за тях. Нека вземаме дъщерите им за жени и да им даваме нашите дъщери.

22 ` Only for this do the men consent to us, to dwell with us, to become one people, in every male of us being circumcised, as they are circumcised;

Тези хора се съгласиха да живеят с нас и да бъдем един народ само с това условие, че всеки от мъжки пол между нас ще се обреже, както те се обрязват.

23 t heir cattle, and their substance, and all their beasts -- are they not ours? only let us consent to them, and they dwell with us.'

Добитъкът им, имотът им и всичките им животни няма ли да станат наши? Само да се съгласим с тях и те ще живеят с нас.

24 A nd unto Hamor, and unto Shechem his son, hearken do all those going out of the gate of his city, and every male is circumcised, all those going out of the gate of his city.

Тогава всички, които излизаха от портата на града му, послушаха Емор и сина му Сихем; всеки от мъжки пол се обряза, всички, които излизаха през портата на града му.

25 A nd it cometh to pass, on the third day, in their being pained, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, take each his sword, and come in against the city confidently, and slay every male;

А на третия ден, когато бяха в болките си, двама от Якововите синове, Симеон и Левий, братя на Дина, взеха всеки меча си, нападнаха дръзко града и избиха всички от мъжки пол.

26 a nd Hamor, and Shechem his son, they have slain by the mouth of the sword, and they take Dinah out of Shechem's house, and go out.

Убиха с острието на меча Емор и сина му Сихем; а Дина взеха от дома на Сихем и си излязоха.

27 J acob's sons have come in upon the wounded, and they spoil the city, because they had defiled their sister;

Тогава Якововите синове се спуснаха върху убитите и ограбиха града, понеже бяха осквернили сестра им.

28 t heir flock and their herd, and their asses, and that which in the city, and that which in the field, have they taken;

Заграбиха овцете им, говедата им, ослите им, каквото имаше в града и по полето и цялото им богатство;

29 a nd all their wealth, and all their infants, and their wives they have taken captive, and they spoil also all that in the house.

и откараха в плен всичките им деца и жени и разграбиха всичко, каквото имаше в къщите.

30 A nd Jacob saith unto Simeon and unto Levi, `Ye have troubled me, by causing me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanite, and among the Perizzite: and I few in number, and they have been gathered against me, and have smitten me, and I have been destroyed, I and my house.'

Но Яков каза на Симеон и Левий: Вие ме изложихте, понеже ме направихте да съм омразен между жителите на тази земя, между ханаанците и ферезейците; и понеже аз имам малко хора, те ще се съберат против мен и ще ме поразят, и ще загина аз и домът ми.

31 A nd they say, `As a harlot doth he make our sister?'

А те отговориха: Трябваше ли той да постъпи със сестра ни като с блудница?
