1 T hen Jesus spake to the multitudes, and to his disciples,

Тогава Исус заговори на народа и на учениците Си:

2 s aying, `On the seat of Moses sat down the scribes and the Pharisees;

На мястото на Моисей са седнали книжниците и фарисеите.

3 a ll, then, as much as they may say to you to observe, observe and do, but according to their works do not, for they say, and do not;

Затова всичко, което ви заръчат, правете и пазете, но според делата им не постъпвайте; понеже говорят, а не вършат.

4 f or they bind together burdens heavy and grievous to be borne, and lay upon the shoulders of men, but with their finger they will not move them.

Защото овързват тежки и непоносими бремена и ги налагат върху плещите на хората, а самите те не искат даже с пръст да ги побутнат.

5 ` And all their works they do to be seen by men, and they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,

А вършат всичките си дела, за да ги виждат хората; защото разширяват филактериите си и правят големи полите на дрехите си,

6 t hey love also the chief couches in the supper, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

и обичат първото място при угощенията и първите столове в синагогите,

7 a nd the salutations in the market-places, and to be called by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

и поздравите по пазарите, и хората да ги наричат учители.

8 ` And ye -- ye may not be called Rabbi, for one is your director -- the Christ, and all ye are brethren;

Но вие не наричайте себе си учители, защото Един е вашият Учител, а вие всички сте братя.

9 a nd ye may not call your father on the earth, for one is your Father, who is in the heavens,

И никого на земята недейте нарича свой отец, защото Един е вашият Отец - Небесният.

10 n or may ye be called directors, for one is your director -- the Christ.

Не наричайте себе си и наставници, защото Един е вашият Наставник - Христос.

11 A nd the greater of you shall be your ministrant,

А по-големият между вас нека ви бъде служител.

12 a nd whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.

А който възвисява себе си, ще се смири; и който смири себе си, ще се възвиси. Изобличение на книжниците и фарисеите

13 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut up the reign of the heavens before men, for ye do not go in, nor those going in do ye suffer to enter.

Но горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери! Защото затваряте небесното царство пред хората, понеже самите вие не влизате, нито оставяте желаещите да влязат.

14 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye eat up the houses of the widows, and for a pretence make long prayers, because of this ye shall receive more abundant judgment.

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери, защото изпояждате домовете на вдовиците, дори и когато за показ дълго се молите; затова ще приемете по-голямо осъждане.

15 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye go round the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and whenever it may happen -- ye make him a son of gehenna twofold more than yourselves.

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери! Защото обикаляте море и суша, за да направите един човек прозелит; и когато стане такъв, правите го рожба на пъкъла два пъти повече от вас.

16 ` Wo to you, blind guides, who are saying, Whoever may swear by the sanctuary, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gold of the sanctuary -- is debtor!

Горко на вас, слепи водачи, които казвате: Ако някой се закълне в храма, не е нищо; но ако някой се закълне в златото на храма, задължава се.

17 F ools and blind! for which greater, the gold, or the sanctuary that is sanctifying the gold?

Безумни и слепи! Че кое е по-голямо, златото ли или храмът, който е осветил златото?

18 ` And, whoever may swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever may swear by the gift that is upon it -- is debtor!

Казвате още: Ако някой се закълне в олтара, не е нищо, но ако някой се закълне в дара, който е върху него, задължава се.

19 F ools and blind! for which greater, the gift, or the altar that is sanctifying the gift?

Безумни и слепи! Че кое е по-голямо - дарът ли или олтарът, който освещава дара?

20 ` He therefore who did swear by the altar, doth swear by it, and by all things on it;

И така, който се закълне в олтара, заклева се в него и във всичко, което е върху него.

21 a nd he who did swear by the sanctuary, doth swear by it, and by Him who is dwelling in it;

И който се закълне в храма, заклева се в него и в Онзи, Който обитава в него.

22 a nd he who did swear by the heaven, doth swear by the throne of God, and by Him who is sitting upon it.

И който се закълне в небето, заклева се в Божия престол и в Онзи, Който седи на него.

23 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye give tithe of the mint, and the dill, and the cumin, and did neglect the weightier things of the Law -- the judgment, and the kindness, and the faith; these it behoved to do, and those not to neglect.

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери! Защото давате десятък от джоджена, копъра и кимиона, а сте пренебрегнали по-важните неща на закона - правосъдието, милостта и верността, но тези трябваше да правите, а онези да не пренебрегвате.

24 ` Blind guides! who are straining out the gnat, and the camel are swallowing.

Слепи водачи, които прецеждате комара, а камилата поглъщате!

25 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye make clean the outside of the cup and the plate, and within they are full of rapine and incontinence.

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери, защото почиствате външността на чашата и блюдото, но отвътре те са пълни с грабеж и насилие.

26 ` Blind Pharisee! cleanse first the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside of them also may become clean.

Слепи фарисеино! Очисти първо вътрешността на чашата и блюдото, за да бъде и външността им чиста.

27 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye are like to whitewashed sepulchres, which outwardly indeed do appear beautiful, and within are full of bones of dead men, and of all uncleanness;

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери! Защото приличате на варосани гробници, които отвън изглеждат хубави, а отвътре са пълни с мъртвешки кости и с всякаква нечистота.

28 s o also ye outwardly indeed do appear to men righteous, and within ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Също така и вие отвън изглеждате на човеците праведни, но отвътре сте пълни с лицемерие и беззаконие.

29 ` Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and adorn the tombs of the righteous,

Горко на вас, книжници и фарисеи, лицемери; защото зидате гробниците на пророците и поправяте гробовете на праведните, и казвате:

30 a nd say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Ако ние бяхме живели в дните на бащите си, нямаше да станем техни съучастници в проливане кръвта на пророците;

31 S o that ye testify to yourselves, that ye are sons of them who did murder the prophets;

с което свидетелствате против себе си, че сте синове на онези, които избиха пророците.

32 a nd ye -- ye fill up the measure of your fathers.

Допълнете и вие мярката на бащината си вина.

33 ` Serpents! brood of vipers! how may ye escape from the judgment of the gehenna?

Змии! Рожби ехиднини! Как ще избегнете осъждането в пъкъла? Оплакването на Йерусалим

34 ` Because of this, lo, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes, and of them ye will kill and crucify, and of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will pursue from city to city;

Затова, ето, Аз изпращам до вас пророци, мъдреци и книжници; едни от тях ще убиете и ще разпънете, други от тях ще биете в синагогите си и ще ги гоните от град в град;

35 t hat on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar:

за да дойде върху вас цялата кръв на праведниците, пролята на земята - от кръвта на праведния Авел до кръвта на Захария, Варахиевия син, когото убихте между светилището и олтара.

36 v erily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

Истина ви казвам: Всичко това ще дойде върху това поколение.

37 ` Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that art killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto thee, how often did I will to gather thy children together, as a hen doth gather her own chickens under the wings, and ye did not will.

Йерусалиме, Йерусалиме! Ти, който избиваш пророците и с камъни убиваш пратените до тебе, колко пъти съм искал да събера твоите чеда, както кокошката прибира пилетата си под крилата си, но не искахте!

38 L o, left desolate to you is your house;

Ето, вашият дом се оставя пуст.

39 f or I say to you, ye may not see me henceforth, till ye may say, Blessed he who is coming in the name of the Lord.'

Защото, казвам ви, отсега няма вече да Ме видите, докато не кажете: Благословен е, Който иде в Господнето име.
