1 A nd Samuel dieth, and all Israel are gathered, and mourn for him, and bury him in his house, in Ramah; and David riseth and goeth down unto the wilderness of Paran.

В това време Самуил умря. Целият Израел се събра и го оплакаха, и го погребаха в къщата му в Рама. И Давид стана и отиде в пустинята Фаран.

2 A nd a man in Maon, and his work in Carmel; and the man very great, and he hath three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats; and he is shearing his flock in Carmel.

А в Маон имаше един човек, чиято работа беше на Кармил. Този човек беше много богат. Имаше три хиляди овце и хиляда кози; и стрижеше овцете си на Кармил.

3 A nd the name of the man Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail, and the woman of good understanding, and of fair form, and the man hard and evil doings; and he a Calebite.

Името на човека беше Навал, а името на жена му Авигея. Жената беше благоразумна и красива, а мъжът - опак и нечестив в делата си; той беше от Халевовия род.

4 A nd David heareth in the wilderness that Nabal is shearing his flock,

Когато Давид чу в пустинята как Навал стрижел овцете си,

5 a nd David sendeth ten young men, and David saith to the young men, `Go ye up to Carmel, and ye have come in unto Nabal, and asked of him in my name of welfare,

изпрати при него десет момъка. Давид каза на момците: Качете се на Кармил и идете при Навал. Поздравете го от мое име, като кажете:

6 a nd said thus: To life! and thou, peace; and thy house, peace; and all that thou hast -- peace!

Здравей! Мир и на тебе, мир и на дома ти, мир и на всичко, което имаш!

7 a nd, now, I have heard that thou hast shearers; now, the shepherds whom thou hast have been with us, we have not put them to shame, nor hath anything been looked after by them, all the days of their being in Carmel.

Чух, че си имал стригачи. Ето, не наранихме овчарите ти, които бяха с нас, нито им се изгуби нещо през цялото време, когато бяха на Кармил.

8 ` Ask thy young men, and they declare to thee, and the young men find grace in thine eyes, for on a good day we have come; give, I pray thee, that which thy hand findeth, to thy servants, and to thy son, to David.'

Попитай слугите си и ще ти кажат. И така, нека моите слуги придобият твоето благоволение, защото в добър ден дойдохме. Дай, моля те, на слугите си и на сина си Давид каквото ти е под ръка.

9 A nd the young men of David come in, and speak unto Nabal according to all these words, in the name of David -- and rest.

И така, Давидовите момци дойдоха и говориха на Навал според всички тези думи от името на Давид - и млъкнаха.

10 A nd Nabal answereth the servants of David and saith, `Who David, and who the son of Jesse? to-day have servants been multiplied who are breaking away each from his master;

Но Навал отговори на Давидовите слуги следното: Кой е Давид и кой е Есеевият син? Много станаха днес слугите, които бягат от господаря си.

11 a nd I have taken my bread, and my water, and my flesh, which I slaughtered for my shearers, and have given to men whom I have not known whence they!'

Искате да взема хляба си и водата си, и закланото, което заклах за стригачите си, и да ги дам на хора, които не знам откъде са?

12 A nd the young men of David turn on their way, and turn back, and come in, and declare to him according to all these words.

И Давидовите момци се върнаха по пътя си, отидоха си и като дойдоха, известиха на Давид всички тези думи.

13 A nd David saith to his men, `Gird ye on each his sword;' and they gird on each his sword, and David also girdeth on his sword, and there go up after David about four hundred men, and two hundred have remained by the vessels.

Тогава Давид каза на мъжете си: Всеки да препаше меча си. И препасаха всеки меча си. И след Давид излязоха около четиристотин мъже, а двеста останаха при вещите.

14 A nd to Abigail wife of Nabal hath one young man of the youths declared, saying, `Lo, David hath sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our lord, and he flieth upon them;

А един от момците извести на Наваловата жена Авигея: Давид прати хора от пустинята, за да поздравят нашия господар, а той се нахвърли върху тях.

15 a nd the men very good to us, and have not put us to shame, and we have not looked after anything all the days we have gone up and down with them, in our being in the field;

Но тези мъже бяха много добри към нас. Ние не бяхме наранени, нито изгубихме нещо, докато дружахме с тях, когато бяхме в полето.

16 a wall they have been unto us both by night and by day, all the days of our being with them, feeding the flock.

Те бяха като стена около нас и денем, и нощем, през цялото време, докато бяхме с тях и пасяхме овцете.

17 ` And, now, know and consider what thou dost; for evil hath been determined against our lord, and against all his house, and he too much a son of worthlessness to be spoken to.'

Знай това и размисли какво ще направиш, защото зло е решено против господаря ни и против целия му дом. Той е толкова злонрав човек, че никой не може да му продума.

18 A nd Abigail hasteth, and taketh two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep, prepared, and five measures of roasted corn, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and two hundred bunches of figs, and setteth on the asses.

Тогава Авигея побърза, взе двеста хляба, два мяха вино, пет сготвени овце, пет мери пържено жито, сто грозда сухо грозде и двеста наниза смокини и ги натовари на осли.

19 A nd she saith to her young men, `Pass over before me; lo, after you I am coming;' and to her husband Nabal she hath not declared;

Тя каза на слугите си: Вървете пред мен; и аз идвам след вас. Но на мъжа си Навал не каза нищо.

20 a nd it hath come to pass, she is riding on the ass and is coming down in the secret part of the hill-country, and lo, David and his men are coming down to meet her, and she meeteth them.

И тя, като седеше на осела и яздеше под сянката на гората, видя, че Давид и мъжете му слизаха към нея; и тя ги срещна.

21 A nd David said, `Only, in vain I have kept all that this hath in the wilderness, and nothing hath been looked after of all that he hath, and he turneth back to me evil for good;

А Давид беше казал: Наистина напразно съм пазил всичко, което имаше този човек в пустинята, и нищо не се изгуби от всичко, което имаше; въпреки това той ми въздаде зло за добро.

22 t hus doth God do to the enemies of David, and thus He doth add, if I leave of all that he hath till the light of the morning -- of those sitting on the wall.'

Така да направи Бог на Давидовите неприятели - да! - и повече да прибави, ако до утринната зора оставя едно мъжко от всичко, което е негово.

23 A nd Abigail seeth David, and hasteth and cometh down from off the ass, and falleth before David on her face, and boweth herself to the earth,

Авигея, като видя Давид, побърза да слезе от осела и падна пред Давид по лице, и се поклони до земята.

24 a nd falleth at his feet and saith, `On me, my lord, the iniquity; and let, I pray thee, thy handmaid speak in thine ear, and hear the words of thy handmaid.

И като падна при краката му, каза: На мене, господарю мой, на мене нека бъде това нечестие; и нека говори, моля, слугинята ти пред теб; и послушай думите на слугинята си.

25 ` Let not, I pray thee, my lord set his heart to this man of worthlessness, on Nabal, for as his name so he; Nabal his name, and folly with him; and I, thine handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord whom thou didst send;

Нека господарят ми не обръща никакво внимание на този злонрав човек Навал; защото каквото е името му, такъв е и той. Навал е името му и безумие обитава в него. А пък аз, твоята слугиня, не видях момците на господаря си, които си пратил.

26 a nd now, my lord, Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, in that Jehovah hath withheld thee from coming in with blood, and to save thy hand to thee -- now let thine enemies be as Nabal, even those seeking evil unto my lord.

Сега, господарю мой, в името на живия Господ и на живота на душата ти, понеже Господ те е въздържа̀л от кръвопролитие и от отмъщаване с ръката ти, то враговете ти и тези, които искат зло на господаря ми, нека бъдат като Навал.

27 ` And, now, this blessing which thy maid-servant hath brought to my lord -- it hath been given to the young men who are going up and down at the feet of my lord.

А сега този подарък, който твоята слугиня донесе на господаря си, нека се даде на момците, които следват господаря ми.

28 ` Bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy handmaid, for Jehovah doth certainly make to my lord a stedfast house; for the battles of Jehovah hath my lord fought, and evil is not found in thee thy days.

Прости, моля, грешката на слугинята си, защото Господ непременно ще направи за господаря ми утвърден дом, понеже господарят ми воюва в Господните войни. И зло не се намери в тебе никога.

29 A nd man riseth to pursue thee and to seek thy soul, and the soul of my lord hath been bound in the bundle of life with Jehovah thy God; as to the soul of thine enemies, He doth sling them out in the midst of the hollow of the sling.

И при все че се е вдигнал човек да те преследва и да иска живота ти, пак животът на господаря ми ще бъде вързан във вързопа на живите при Господ, твоя Бог; а животът на неприятелите ти Той ще изхвърли като с прашка.

30 ` And it hath been, when Jehovah doth to my lord according to all the good which He hath spoken concerning thee, and appointed thee for leader over Israel,

А когато Господ постъпи към господаря ми според всички благости, които е говорил за теб, и те постави управител над Израел,

31 t hat this is not to thee for a stumbling-block, and for an offence of heart to my lord -- either to shed blood for nought, or my lord's restraining himself; and Jehovah hath done good to my lord, and thou hast remembered thy handmaid.'

тогава няма да съжаляваш, нито ще се спъва сърцето на господаря ми, че си пролял невинна кръв или че господарят ми е отмъстил сам за себе си. Но когато Господ направи добро на господаря ми, тогава си спомни за слугинята си.

32 A nd David saith to Abigail, `Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath sent thee this day to meet me,

Тогава Давид каза на Авигея: Благословен да бъде Господ, Израелевият Бог, Който те изпрати днес да ме посрещнеш.

33 a nd blessed thy discretion, and blessed thou in that thou hast restrained me this day from coming in with blood, and to restrain my hand to myself.

И благословен да бъде съветът ти. Благословена да си ти, която ме въздържа днес от кръвопролитие и от отмъщение с ръката ми.

34 A nd yet, Jehovah liveth, God of Israel, who hath kept me back from doing evil with thee, for unless thou hadst hasted, and dost come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal till the light of the morning, of those sitting on the wall.'

Защото наистина, заклевам се в живота на Господа, Израелевия Бог, Който ме въздържа̀ да не ти сторя зло, ако не беше побързала да дойдеш да ме посрещнеш, то до утринната зора нямаше да остане на Навал нито едно живо мъжко.

35 A nd David receiveth from her hand that which she hath brought to him, and to her he hath said, `Go up in peace to thy house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and accept thy face.'

Така Давид взе от нея онова, което му беше донесла; и ѝ каза: Иди в дома си с мир. Аз послушах думите ти и те приех.

36 A nd Abigail cometh in unto Nabal, and lo, he hath a banquet in his house, like a banquet of the king, and the heart of Nabal glad within him, and he drunk unto excess, and she hath not declared to him anything, less or more, till the light of the morning.

А Авигея дойде при Навал и, ето, той имаше в дома си угощение, като царски пир; и Наваловото сърце беше развеселено, понеже беше много пиян, затова до пукването на зората тя не му извести нищо, нито малко, нито много.

37 A nd it cometh to pass in the morning, when the wine is gone out from Nabal, that his wife declareth to him these things, and his heart dieth within him, and he hath been as a stone.

Но на сутринта, когато Навал изтрезня, жена му му разказа всичко; и сърцето му примря в него и той стана като камък.

38 A nd it cometh to pass, about ten days, that Jehovah smiteth Nabal, and he dieth,

И около десет дни след това Господ порази Навал и той умря.

39 a nd David heareth that Nabal dead, and saith, `Blessed Jehovah who hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and His servant hath kept back from evil, and the wickedness of Nabal hath Jehovah turned back on his own head;' and David sendeth and speaketh with Abigail, to take her to him for a wife.

А когато Давид чу, че Навал умрял, каза: Благословен да бъде Господ, Който отсъди въздаянието ми за обидата ми от Навал и въздържа слугата Си да не стори зло; защото Господ обърна злобата на Навал върху главата му. И Давид прати да говорят на Авигея, за да я вземе за жена.

40 A nd the servants of David come in unto Abigail at Carmel, and speak unto her, saying, `David hath sent us unto thee to take thee to him for a wife.'

И когато Давидовите слуги дойдоха при Авигея в Кармил, те ѝ казаха: Давид ни прати при тебе да те вземе за жена.

41 A nd she riseth and boweth herself -- face to the earth -- and saith, `Lo, thy handmaid for a maid-servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.'

А тя стана и се поклони с лицето до земята, и каза: Робинята ти е готова да бъде слугиня, да мие краката на слугите на господаря си.

42 A nd Abigail hasteth and riseth, and rideth on the ass; and five of her young women who are going at her feet; and she goeth after the messengers of David, and is to him for a wife.

Тогава Авигея стана и се качи на осел, и заедно с пет от нейните момичета, които тръгнаха с нея, отиде след пратениците на Давид и му стана жена.

43 A nd Ahinoam hath David taken from Jezreel, and they are -- even both of them -- to him for wives;

Давид взе още и Ахиноам от Езраел. Тези двете му станаха жени.

44 a nd Saul gave Michal his daughter, wife to David, to Phalti son of Laish, who of Gallim.

А Саул беше дал дъщеря си Михала, Давидовата жена, на Фалтий, Лаисовия син, който беше от Галим.
