1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

В седмия месец Исмаил, син на Натания, Елисамовия син, от царския род, един от по-главните царски служители, и десет мъже с него дойдоха при Годолия, Ахикамовия син, в Масфа; и там ядоха заедно хляб в Масфа.

2 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

Тогава Исмаил, Натаниевият син, и десетте мъже, които бяха с него, станаха и поразиха с меч Годолия, син на Ахикам, Сафановия син, когото вавилонският цар беше поставил над земята, и го убиха.

3 A nd all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

Исмаил порази и всички юдеи, които бяха с него, с Годолия, в Масфа, и халдейските военни мъже, които се намираха там.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death, (and no one hath known,)

А на втория ден, след като беше убил Годолия, когато никой още не знаеше за това,

5 t hat men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

няколко души от Сихем, от Сило и от Самария, на брой осемдесет мъже, с обръснати бради, раздрани дрехи и с нарязвания по телата си, пристигаха с приноси и ливан в ръката си, за да ги принесат на мястото на Господния дом.

6 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.'

Тогава Исмаил, Натаниевият син, излезе от Масфа да ги посрещне и като вървеше, плачеше; и когато ги срещна, им каза: Влезте при Годолия, Ахикамовия син.

7 A nd it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who with him.

И когато дойдоха сред града, Исмаил, Натаниевият син, ги закла; и той, и мъжете, които бяха с него, ги хвърлиха сред окопа.

8 A nd ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.' And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

А между тях се намериха десет мъже, които казаха на Исмаил: Недей ни убива, защото имаме на полето скривалища с жито, ечемик, дървено масло и мед. Така той се удържа и не ги закла с братята им.

9 A nd the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

А окопът, в който Исмаил хвърли всички трупове на мъжете, които порази, покрай трупа на Годолия, беше същият онзи окоп, който цар Аса беше направил поради страх от Израелевия цар Ваас; и Исмаил, Натаниевият син, го напълни с убитите.

10 A nd Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

След това Исмаил плени целия народ, останал в Масфа, царските дъщери и всички хора, останали в Масфа, които началникът на телохранителите Навузардан беше поверил на Годолия, Ахикамовия син; Исмаил, Натаниевият син, като ги плени, се отправи към амонците.

11 A nd hear doth Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces that with him, of all the evil that Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath done,

А Йоанан, Кариевият син, и всички военачалници, които бяха с него, като чуха за цялото зло, което Исмаил, Натаниевият син, беше сторил,

12 a nd they take all the men, and go to fight with Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and they find him at the great waters that in Gibeon.

взеха всичките си мъже и отидоха да се бият с Исмаил, Натаниевия син; и го намериха при големите води, които са в Гаваон.

13 A nd it cometh to pass, when all the people who with Ishmael see Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, that they rejoice.

И целият народ, който беше с Исмаил, като видя Йоанан, Кариевия син, и всички военачалници, които бяха с него, се зарадва.

14 A nd all the people whom Ishmael hath taken captive from Mizpah turn round, yea, they turn back, and go unto Johanan son of Kareah.

И така, целият народ, който Исмаил беше пленил от Масфа, се обърна, върна се и отиде при Йоанан, Кариевия син.

15 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath escaped, with eight men, from the presence of Johanan, and he goeth unto the sons of Ammon.

А Исмаил, Натаниевият син, избяга от Йоанан с осем мъже и отиде при амонците.

16 A nd Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, take all the remnant of the people whom he hath brought back from Ishmael son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah -- after he had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam -- mighty ones, men of war, and women, and infants, and eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon,

Тогава Йоанан, Кариевият син, и всички военачалници, които бяха с него, взеха от Масфа целия останал народ, който беше избавил от Исмаил, Натаниевия син, след като той беше поразил Годолия, Ахикамовия син, т. е. военните мъже, жените, децата и евнусите, които беше върнал от Гаваон,

17 a nd they go and abide in the habitations of Chimham, that near Beth-Lehem, to go to enter Egypt,

и отидоха и се спряха в Хамаамовата керванска спирка, която е пред Витлеем, за да отидат и влязат в Египет -

18 f rom the presence of the Chaldeans, for they have been afraid of them, for Ishmael son of Nethaniah had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.

поради халдейците, защото се уплашиха от тях, понеже Исмаил, Натаниевият син, беше убил Годолия, Ахикамовия син, когото вавилонският цар беше поставил управител над страната.
