1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

Aconteció en el mes séptimo que vino Ismael, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisamá, de la descendencia real, y algunos príncipes del rey y diez hombres con él, a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, en Mizpá; y comieron pan juntos allí en Mizpá.

2 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

Y se levantó Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y los diez hombres que con él estaban, e hirieron a espada a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, matando así a aquel a quien el rey de Babilonia había puesto para gobernar la tierra.

3 A nd all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

Asimismo mató Ismael a todos los judíos que estaban con Gedalías en Mizpá, y a los soldados caldeos que allí estaban.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death, (and no one hath known,)

Sucedió además, un día después que había matado a Gedalías, cuando nadie lo sabía aún,

5 t hat men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

que vinieron unos hombres de Siquem, de Siló y de Samaria, ochenta hombres, raída la barba, harapientos y arañados, y traían en sus manos ofrenda e incienso para llevar a la casa de Jehová.

6 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.'

Y de Mizpá les salió al encuentro, llorando, Ismael el hijo de Netanías. Y aconteció que cuando los encontró, les dijo: Venid a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam.

7 A nd it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who with him.

Y cuando llegaron dentro de la ciudad, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, los degolló, y los echó dentro de una cisterna, con ayuda de los hombres que con él estaban.

8 A nd ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.' And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

Mas entre aquellos fueron hallados diez hombres que dijeron a Ismael: No nos mates; porque tenemos en el campo escondites de trigo, cebada, aceite y miel. Y los dejó, y no los mató como a sus hermanos.

9 A nd the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

Y la cisterna en que echó Ismael todos los cuerpos de los hombres que mató a causa de Gedalías, era la misma que había hecho el rey Asá para prevenirse de Baasá rey de Israel; Ismael, hijo de Netanías, la llenó de muertos.

10 A nd Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

Después llevó Ismael cautivo a todo el resto del pueblo que estaba en Mizpá, a las hijas del rey y a todo el pueblo que había quedado en Mizpá, el cual, Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, había encomendado a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam. Los llevó, pues, cautivos Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y se fue a pasarse a los hijos de Amón.

11 A nd hear doth Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces that with him, of all the evil that Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath done,

Y cuando oyeron Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos los jefes de la gente de guerra que estaban con él, todos los crímenes que había hecho Ismael, hijo de Netanías,

12 a nd they take all the men, and go to fight with Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and they find him at the great waters that in Gibeon.

entonces tomaron a todos los hombres y fueron a pelear contra Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y lo hallaron junto al gran estanque que está en Gabaón.

13 A nd it cometh to pass, when all the people who with Ishmael see Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, that they rejoice.

Y aconteció que cuando todo el pueblo que estaba con Ismael vio a Johanán, hijo de Carea, y a todos los capitanes de la gente de guerra que estaban con él, se alegraron.

14 A nd all the people whom Ishmael hath taken captive from Mizpah turn round, yea, they turn back, and go unto Johanan son of Kareah.

Y todo el pueblo que Ismael había traído cautivo de Mizpá se volvió y se fue al lado de Johanán, hijo de Carea.

15 A nd Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath escaped, with eight men, from the presence of Johanan, and he goeth unto the sons of Ammon.

Pero Ismael, hijo de Netanías, escapó delante de Johanán con ocho hombres, y se fue a los hijos de Amón.

16 A nd Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, take all the remnant of the people whom he hath brought back from Ishmael son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah -- after he had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam -- mighty ones, men of war, and women, and infants, and eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon,

Y Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos los capitanes de la gente de guerra que estaban con él tomaron a todo el resto del pueblo que habían recobrado de mano de Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a quienes éste llevó de Mizpá después de haber matado a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam; hombres de guerra, mujeres, niños y eunucos, que Johanán había hecho volver de Gabaón;

17 a nd they go and abide in the habitations of Chimham, that near Beth-Lehem, to go to enter Egypt,

y fueron y habitaron en Gerut-quimam, que está cerca de Belén, con el propósito de meterse en Egipto,

18 f rom the presence of the Chaldeans, for they have been afraid of them, for Ishmael son of Nethaniah had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.

pues temían a los caldeos, por haber dado muerte Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, al cual el rey de Babilonia había puesto para gobernar la tierra.
