1 I t hath been good before Darius, and he hath established over the kingdom satraps -- a hundred and twenty -- that they may be throughout the whole kingdom,

Pareció bien a Darío constituir sobre el reino ciento veinte sátrapas, que gobernasen en todo el reino.

2 a nd higher than they three presidents, of whom Daniel first, that these satraps may give to them an account, and the king have no loss.

Y sobre ellos tres ministros, de los cuales Daniel era uno, a quienes estos sátrapas diesen cuenta, para que el rey no fuese perjudicado.

3 T hen this Daniel hath been overseer over the presidents and satraps, because that an excellent spirit in him, and the king hath thought to establish him over the whole kingdom.

Pero Daniel mismo era superior a estos sátrapas y ministros, porque había en él un espíritu superior; y el rey pensó en ponerlo sobre todo el reino.

4 T hen the presidents and satraps have been seeking to find a cause of complaint against Daniel concerning the kingdom, and any cause of complaint and corruption they are not able to find, because that he faithful, and any error and corruption have not been found in him.

Entonces los ministros y los sátrapas buscaban ocasión para acusar a Daniel en lo tocante a la administración del reino; mas no podían hallar ningún motivo de acusación ni falta alguna, porque él era fiel, y ninguna negligencia ni falta fue hallada en él.

5 T hen these men are saying, `We do not find against this Daniel any cause of complaint, except we have found against him in the law of his God.'

Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ninguna ocasión para acusarle, si no la hallamos contra él en relación con la ley de su Dios.

6 T hen these presidents and satraps have assembled near the king, and thus they are saying to him: `O king Darius, to the ages live!

Entonces estos ministros y sátrapas vinieron apresuradamente a la presencia del rey, y le dijeron así: ¡Rey Darío, vive para siempre!

7 T aken counsel have all the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects, and the satraps, the counsellors, and the governors, to establish a royal statute, and to strengthen an interdict, that any who seeketh a petition from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions.

Todos los ministros del reino, prefectos, sátrapas, consejeros y gobernadores han acordado en consejo que promulgues un edicto real y lo confirmes, mandando que cualquiera que en el espacio de treinta días haga petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de ti, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones.

8 N ow, O king, thou dost establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it is not to be changed, as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

Ahora, pues, oh rey, confirma el edicto y fírmalo, para que no pueda ser revocado, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no puede ser abrogada.

9 T herefore king Darius hath signed the writing and interdict.

Firmó, pues, el rey Darío el edicto y la prohibición.

10 A nd Daniel, when he hath known that the writing is signed, hath gone up to his house, and the window being opened for him, in his upper chamber, over-against Jerusalem, three times in a day he is kneeling on his knees, and praying, and confessing before his God, because that he was doing before this.

Cuando supo Daniel que el edicto había sido firmado, entró en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que daban hacia Jerusalén, se arrodillaba tres veces al día, y oraba y daba gracias delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes. Oración de Daniel

11 T hen these men have assembled, and found Daniel praying and entreating grace before his God;

Entonces se juntaron apresuradamente aquellos hombres, y hallaron a Daniel orando y rogando a su Dios.

12 t hen they have come near, yea, they are saying before the king concerning the king's interdict: `Hast thou not signed an interdict, that any man who seeketh from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions?' Answered hath the king, and said, `The thing certain as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

Fueron luego ante el rey y le hablaron del edicto real: ¿No has confirmado un edicto mandando que cualquiera que en el espacio de treinta días haga alguna petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de ti, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones? Respondió el rey diciendo: Así es, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no puede ser abrogada.

13 T hen they have answered, yea, they are saying before the king, that, `Daniel, who of the sons of the Removed of Judah, hath not placed on thee, O king, regard, nor on the interdict that thou hast signed, and three times in a day he is seeking his petition.'

Entonces respondieron y dijeron en presencia del rey: Daniel, que es de los hijos de los cautivos de Judá, no te respeta a ti, oh rey, ni acata el edicto que confirmaste, sino que tres veces al día hace su oración.

14 T hen the king, when he hath heard the matter, is greatly displeased at himself, and on Daniel he hath set the heart to deliver him, and till the going up of the sun he was arranging to deliver him.

Cuando el rey oyó el asunto, le pesó en gran manera, y resolvió librar a Daniel; y hasta la puesta del sol estuvo haciendo esfuerzos por librarle.

15 T hen these men have assembled near the king, and are saying to the king, `know, O king, that the law of Media and Persia: That any interdict and statute that the king doth establish is not to be changed.'

Pero aquellos hombres se reunieron apresuradamente ante el rey y le dijeron: Ya sabes, oh rey, que según la ley de Media y de Persia, ningún edicto u ordenanza que el rey confirme puede ser abrogado.

16 T hen the king hath said, and they have brought Daniel, and have cast into a den of lions. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, `Thy God, whom thou art serving continually, Himself doth deliver thee.'

Entonces el rey mandó que trajeran a Daniel, y le echaran en el foso de los leones. Y el rey dijo a Daniel: Tu Dios, a quien tú sirves con perseverancia, él te libre.

17 A nd a stone hath been brought and placed at the mouth of the den, and the king hath sealed it with his signet, and with the signet of his great men, that the purpose be not changed concerning Daniel.

Y fue traída una piedra y puesta sobre la boca del foso, y el rey la selló con su anillo y con el anillo de sus dignatarios, para que la situación de Daniel no se pudiese alterar.

18 T hen hath the king gone to his palace, and he hath passed the night fasting, and dahavan have not been brought up before him, and his sleep hath fled off him.

Luego el rey se fue a su palacio, y se acostó en ayunas; no dejó que le trajeran concubinas, y se le fue el sueño.

19 T hen doth the king rise in the early morning, at the light, and in haste to the den of lions he hath gone;

El rey, pues, se levantó muy de mañana, y fue apresuradamente al foso de los leones.

20 a nd at his coming near to the den, to Daniel, with a grieved voice, he crieth. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, thy God, whom thou art serving continually, is He able to deliver thee from the lions?'

Y acercándose al foso, llamó a voces a Daniel con voz triste, y le dijo: Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, el Dios tuyo, a quien tú con tanta perseverancia sirves, ¿te ha podido librar de los leones?

21 T hen Daniel hath spoken with the king: `O king, to the ages live:

Entonces Daniel respondió al rey: Oh rey, vive para siempre.

22 m y God hath sent His messenger, and hath shut the lions' mouths, and they have not injured me: because that before Him purity hath been found in me; and also before thee, O king, injury I have not done.'

Mi Dios envió a su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen daño, porque ante él fui hallado inocente; y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho nada malo.

23 T hen was the king very glad for him, and he hath commanded Daniel to be taken up out of the den, and Daniel hath been taken up out of the den, and no injury hath been found in him, because he hath believed in his God.

Entonces se alegró el rey en gran manera, y mandó sacar a Daniel del foso; y fue Daniel sacado del foso, y ninguna lesión se halló en él, porque había confiado en su Dios.

24 A nd the king hath said, and they have brought those men who had accused Daniel, and to the den of lions they have cast them, they, their sons, and their wives; and they have not come to the lower part of the den till that the lions have power over them, and all their bones they have broken small.

Y dio orden el rey de que fueran traídos aquellos hombres que habían acusado a Daniel, y fueran echados en el foso de los leones ellos, sus hijos y sus mujeres; y aún no habían llegado al fondo del foso, cuando los leones se apoderaron de ellos y quebraron todos sus huesos. Profesión de fe del rey

25 T hen Darius the king hath written to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the land: `Your peace be great!

Entonces el rey Darío escribió a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que habitan en toda la tierra: ¡Paz abundante a vosotros!

26 F rom before me is made a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom they are trembling and fearing before the God of Daniel, for He the living God, and abiding to the ages, and His kingdom that which not destroyed, and His dominion unto the end.

Doy orden de que en todos los dominios de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen ante la presencia del Dios de Daniel; porque él es el Dios viviente y permanece por todos los siglos, y su reino no será jamás destruido, y su dominio perdurará hasta el fin.

27 A deliverer, and rescuer, and doer of signs and wonders in the heavens and in earth He who hath delivered Daniel from the paw of the lions.'

Él salva y libra, y hace señales y portentos en el cielo y en la tierra; él ha librado a Daniel del poder de los leones.

28 A nd this Daniel hath prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Y este mismo Daniel prosperó durante el reinado de Darío y durante el reinado de Ciro, el persa.
