1 A nd they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes,

Y llegaron al otro lado del mar, a la región de los gadarenos.

2 a nd he having come forth out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

Y en cuanto desembarcó, en seguida le salió al encuentro, de entre los sepulcros, un hombre poseído de un espíritu inmundo,

3 w ho had his dwelling in the tombs, and not even with chains was any one able to bind him,

que tenía su morada entre los sepulcros, y ya nadie podía atarle ni con cadenas,

4 b ecause that he many times with fetters and chains had been bound, and pulled in pieces by him had been the chains, and the fetters broken in pieces, and none was able to tame him,

porque le habían atado muchas veces con grilletes y cadenas, pero él había roto las cadenas y destrozado los grilletes, y nadie tenía fuerza para dominarle.

5 a nd always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs he was, crying and cutting himself with stones.

Y continuamente, de noche y de día, andaba entre los sepulcros y por los montes, dando gritos y cortándose con piedras.

6 A nd, having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed before him,

Al ver de lejos a Jesús, corrió y se postró ante él,

7 a nd having called with a loud voice, he said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I adjure thee by God, mayest thou not afflict me!'

y gritando con gran voz, le dice: ¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te conjuro por Dios que no me atormentes.

8 ( for he said to him, `Come forth, spirit unclean, out of the man,')

Porque le decía: Sal del hombre, espíritu inmundo.

9 a nd he was questioning him, `What thy name?' and he answered, saying, `Legion my name, because we are many;'

Y le preguntaba: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? Y él le dice: Mi nombre es legión, porque somos muchos.

10 a nd he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.

Y le suplicaba con insistencia que no los enviara fuera de la región.

11 A nd there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,

Había allí en la ladera del monte una gran piara de cerdos paciendo;

12 a nd all the demons did call upon him, saying, `Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'

y le rogaron los demonios diciendo: Envíanos a los cerdos para que entremos en ellos.

13 a nd immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea -- and they were about two thousand -- and they were choked in the sea.

Él les dio permiso. Y los espíritus inmundos, saliendo, entraron en los cerdos; y la piara, unos dos mil, corrió a precipitarse por el acantilado al mar, y se ahogaron en el mar.

14 A nd those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;

Los que los apacentaban huyeron a contarlo en la ciudad y por los campos; y vinieron a ver qué era lo que había sucedido.

15 a nd they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded -- him having had the legion -- and they were afraid;

Llegan adonde estaba Jesús, y se quedan contemplando al endemoniado, sentado, vestido, y en su sano juicio, al mismo que había tenido la legión, y les entró miedo.

16 a nd those having seen, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;

Y los que lo habían visto les refirieron cómo le había ocurrido aquello al endemoniado, y lo de los cerdos.

17 a nd they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.

Entonces comenzaron a rogarle que se alejara de los confines de ellos.

18 A nd he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,

Al entrar en la barca, el que había estado endemoniado le rogaba que le dejara quedarse con él.

19 a nd Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, `Go away to thy house, unto thine own, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;

Pero no se lo permitió, sino que le dijo: Vete a tu casa, adonde los tuyos, y cuéntales todo cuanto el Señor ha hecho por ti, y cómo tuvo compasión de ti.

20 a nd he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.

Él se fue, y comenzó a proclamar en Decápolis cuanto había hecho Jesús por él; y todos se admiraban. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesucristo

21 A nd Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,

Jesús pasó de nuevo en la barca a la otra orilla, y se aglomeró junto a él una gran multitud; y él estaba junto al mar.

22 a nd lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,

En esto, llega uno de los dirigentes de la sinagoga, llamado Jairo, y al verle, cae ante sus pies,

23 a nd he was calling upon him much, saying -- `My little daughter is at the last extremity -- that having come, thou mayest lay on her hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'

y le suplica con insistencia, diciendo: Mi hijita está a punto de morir; ven a poner las manos sobre ella para que se cure y viva.

24 a nd he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,

Y se fue con él. Le seguía una gran multitud, y le apretujaban.

25 a nd a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,

En esto, una mujer que padecía de continuas hemorragias desde hacía doce años,

26 a nd many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,

que había sufrido mucho a manos de muchos médicos, y había gastado todos sus bienes sin provecho alguno, sino que, por el contrario, había empeorado,

27 h aving heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,

al oír hablar de Jesús, se acercó entre el gentío por detrás, y tocó su manto.

28 f or she said -- `If even his garments I may touch, I shall be saved;'

Porque decía: Si toco aunque sólo sea su manto, seré curada.

29 a nd immediately was the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in the body that she hath been healed of the plague.

Inmediatamente cesó su hemorragia, y sintió en su cuerpo que había quedado curada de su aflicción.

30 A nd immediately Jesus having known in himself that out of him power had gone forth, having turned about in the multitude, said, `Who did touch my garments?'

Al instante, Jesús, percatándose en su interior de que había salido de él un poder, se dio la vuelta entre el gentío, y decía: ¿Quién ha tocado mis vestidos?

31 a nd his disciples said to him, `Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest, `Who did touch me!'

Sus discípulos le decían: Estás viendo que la multitud te apretuja, y dices: ¿Quién me ha tocado?

32 A nd he was looking round to see her who did this,

Pero él continuaba mirando en torno suyo para ver a la que lo había hecho.

33 a nd the woman, having been afraid, and trembling, knowing what was done on her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth,

Entonces, la mujer, temerosa y temblando, sabiendo lo que le había ocurrido, vino hacia él, y echándose a sus pies, le dijo toda la verdad.

34 a nd he said to her, `Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.'

Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado; vete en paz, y queda sana de tu aflicción.

35 A s he is yet speaking, there come from the chief of the synagogue's, saying -- `Thy daughter did die, why still dost thou harass the Teacher?'

Todavía estaba él hablando, cuando de casa del dirigente de la sinagoga llegan unos diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto; ¿por qué molestas aún al Maestro?

36 A nd Jesus immediately, having heard the word that is spoken, saith to the chief of the synagogue, `Be not afraid, only believe.'

Pero Jesús, no haciendo caso de lo que se hablaba, le dice al dirigente de la sinagoga: No temas, cree solamente.

37 A nd he did not suffer any one to follow with him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James;

Y no permitió que nadie le acompañase, excepto Pedro, Jacobo y Juan el hermano de Jacobo.

38 a nd he cometh to the house of the chief of the synagogue, and seeth a tumult, much weeping and wailing;

Llegan a la casa del dirigente de la sinagoga, y allí observa el alboroto, y a los que lloraban y daban grandes alaridos;

39 a nd having gone in he saith to them, `Why do ye make a tumult, and weep? the child did not die, but doth sleep;

y entrando, les dice: ¿Por qué alborotáis y lloráis? La niña no está muerta, sino que duerme.

40 a nd they were laughing at him. And he, having put all forth, doth take the father of the child, and the mother, and those with him, and goeth in where the child is lying,

Y se reían de él. Pero él, después de echar fuera a todos, toma consigo al padre de la niña y a la madre, y a los que estaban con él, y entra adonde estaba la niña.

41 a nd, having taken the hand of the child, he saith to her, `Talitha cumi;' which is, being interpreted, `Damsel (I say to thee), arise.'

Y tomando la mano de la niña, le dice: Talitá cumi, que traducido significa: Muchacha, a ti te digo, levántate.

42 A nd immediately the damsel arose, and was walking, for she was twelve years; and they were amazed with a great amazement,

Y en seguida se levantó la muchacha, y se puso a caminar, pues tenía doce años. Al instante, quedaron fuera de sí, llenos de asombro.

43 a nd he charged them much, that no one may know this thing, and he said that there be given to her to eat.

Él les dio órdenes estrictas de que nadie se enterara de esto, y dijo que le dieran a la niña algo de comer.
