1 O n that day hath the king Ahasuerus given to Esther the queen the house of Haman, adversary of the Jews, and Mordecai hath come in before the king, for Esther hath declared what he to her,

El mismo día, el rey Asuero dio a la reina Ester la casa de Amán enemigo de los judíos; y Mardoqueo vino delante del rey, porque Ester le declaró lo que él era respecto de ella.

2 a nd the king turneth aside his signet, that he hath caused to pass away from Haman, and giveth it to Mordecai, and Esther setteth Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Y se quitó el rey el anillo que recogió de Amán, y lo dio a Mardoqueo. Y Ester puso a Mardoqueo sobre la casa de Amán.

3 A nd Esther addeth, and speaketh before the king, and falleth before his feet, and weepeth, and maketh supplication to him, to cause the evil of Haman the Agagite to pass away, and his device that he had devised against the Jews;

Volvió luego Ester a hablar delante del rey, y se echó a sus pies, llorando y rogándole que hiciese nula la maldad de Amán agagueo y su designio que había tramado contra los judíos.

4 a nd the king holdeth out to Esther the golden sceptre, and Esther riseth, and standeth before the king,

Entonces el rey extendió a Ester el cetro de oro, y Ester se levantó, y se puso en pie delante del rey,

5 a nd saith, `If to the king good, and if I have found grace before him, and the thing hath been right before the king, and I good in his eyes, let it be written to bring back the letters -- a device of Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite -- that he wrote to destroy the Jews who in all provinces of the king,

y dijo: Si place al rey, y si he hallado gracia delante de él, y si le parece acertado al rey, y yo soy agradable a sus ojos, que se dé orden escrita para revocar las cartas que autorizan la trama de Amán hijo de Hamedatá agagueo, que escribió para destruir a los judíos que están en todas las provincias del rey.

6 f or how do I endure when I have looked on the evil that doth find my people? and how do I endure when I have looked on the destruction of my kindred?'

Porque ¿cómo podré yo ver la desgracia que amenaza a mi pueblo y la ruina de mi pueblo?

7 A nd the king Ahasuerus saith to Esther the queen, and to Mordecai the Jew, `Lo, the house of Haman I have given to Esther, and him they have hanged on the tree, because that he put forth his hand on the Jews,

Respondió el rey Asuero a la reina Ester y a Mardoqueo el judío: He aquí, yo he dado a Ester la casa de Amán, y a él han colgado en la horca, por cuanto extendió su mano contra los judíos.

8 a nd ye, write ye for the Jews, as good in your eyes, in the name of the king, and seal with the signet of the king -- for the writing that is written in the name of the king, and sealed with the signet of the king, there is none to turn back.'

Escribid, pues, vosotros a los judíos como bien os parezca, en nombre del rey, y selladlo con el anillo del rey; porque un edicto que se escribe en nombre del rey, y se sella con el anillo del rey, no puede ser revocado.

9 A nd the scribes of the king are called, at that time, in the third month -- it the month of Sivan -- in the three and twentieth of it, and it is written, according to all that Mordecai hath commanded, unto the Jews, and unto the lieutenants, and the governors, and the heads of the provinces, that from Hodu even unto Cush, seven and twenty and a hundred provinces -- province and province according to its writing, and people and people according to its tongue, and unto the Jews according to their writing, and according to their tongue.

Entonces fueron llamados los escribanos del rey en el mes tercero, que es Siván, a los veintitrés días de ese mes; y se escribió conforme a todo lo que mandó Mardoqueo, a los judíos, y a los sátrapas, los capitanes y los príncipes de las provincias que había desde la India hasta Etiopía, ciento veintisiete provincias; a cada provincia según su escritura, y a cada pueblo conforme a su lengua, a los judíos también conforme a su escritura y lengua.

10 A nd he writeth in the name of the king Ahasuerus, and sealeth with the signet of the king, and sendeth letters by the hand of the runners with horses, riders of the dromedary, the mules, the young mares,

Y escribió en nombre del rey Asuero, y lo selló con el anillo del rey, y envió cartas por medio de correos montados en caballos veloces procedentes de las caballerizas reales;

11 t hat the king hath given to the Jews who in every city and city, to be assembled, and to stand for their life, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy the whole force of the people and province who are distressing them, infants and women, and their spoil to seize.

que el rey daba facultad a los judíos que estaban en todas las ciudades, para que se reuniesen y estuviesen a la defensa de su vida, prontos a destruir, y matar, y acabar con toda fuerza armada del pueblo o provincia que viniese contra ellos, y aun sus niños y mujeres, y apoderarse de sus bienes,

12 I n one day, in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month -- it the month of Adar --

en un mismo día en todas las provincias del rey Asuero, en el día trece del mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar.

13 a copy of the writing to be made law in every province and province is revealed to all the peoples, and for the Jews being ready at this day to be avenged of their enemies.

La copia del edicto que había de darse por decreto en cada provincia, para que fuese conocido por todos los pueblos, decía que los judíos estuviesen preparados para aquel día, para vengarse de sus enemigos.

14 T he runners, riding on the dromedary, the mules, have gone out, hastened and pressed by the word of the king, and the law hath been given in Shushan the palace.

Los correos, pues, montados en caballos veloces, salieron a toda prisa por la orden del rey; y el edicto fue dado en Susa capital del reino.

15 A nd Mordecai went out from before the king, in royal clothing of blue and white, and a great crown of gold, and a garment of fine linen and purple, and the city of Shushan hath rejoiced and been glad;

Y salió Mardoqueo de delante del rey con vestido real de azul y blanco, y una gran corona de oro, y un manto de lino y púrpura. La ciudad de Susa entonces se alegró y regocijó;

16 t o the Jews hath been light, and gladness, and joy, and honour,

y los judíos tuvieron luz y alegría, y gozo y honra.

17 a nd in every province and province, and in every city and city, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, gladness and joy to the Jews, a banquet, and a good day; and many of the peoples of the land are becoming Jews, for a fear of the Jews hath fallen upon them.

Y en cada provincia y en cada ciudad donde llegó el mandamiento del rey, los judíos tuvieron alegría y gozo, banquete y día de placer. Y muchos de entre los pueblos de la tierra se hacían judíos, porque el temor de los judíos había caído sobre ellos.
