2 W e give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,

Damos siempre gracias a Dios por todos vosotros, haciendo memoria de vosotros en nuestras oraciones,

3 u nceasingly remembering of you the work of the faith, and the labour of the love, and the endurance of the hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the presence of our God and Father,

acordándonos sin cesar delante del Dios y Padre nuestro de la obra de vuestra fe, del trabajo de vuestro amor y de vuestra constancia en la esperanza en nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

4 h aving known, brethren beloved, by God, your election,

sabiendo, hermanos amados de Dios, vuestra elección;

5 b ecause our good news did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, even as ye have known of what sort we became among you because of you,

pues nuestro evangelio no llegó a vosotros solamente en palabras, sino también en poder, en el Espíritu Santo y en plena certidumbre, como bien sabéis qué clase de personas fuimos entre vosotros por amor a vosotros.

6 a nd ye -- ye did become imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

Y vosotros vinisteis a ser imitadores de nosotros y del Señor, recibiendo la palabra en medio de gran tribulación, con gozo del Espíritu Santo,

7 s o that ye became patterns to all those believing in Macedonia and Achaia,

de tal manera que habéis llegado a ser un modelo para todos los de Macedonia y de Acaya que son creyentes.

8 f or from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God did go forth, so that we have no need to say anything,

Porque partiendo de vosotros ha sido divulgada la palabra del Señor, no sólo en Macedonia y Acaya, sino que también en todo lugar vuestra fe para con Dios se ha extendido, de modo que nosotros no tenemos necesidad de hablar nada;

9 f or they themselves concerning us do declare what entrance we had unto you, and how ye did turn unto God from the idols, to serve a living and true God,

porque ellos mismos cuentan de nosotros la manera en que nos recibisteis, y cómo os convertisteis a Dios abandonando los ídolos, para servir al Dios vivo y verdadero,

10 a nd to wait for His Son from the heavens, whom He did raise out of the dead -- Jesus, who is rescuing us from the anger that is coming.

y esperar de los cielos a su Hijo, al cual resucitó de los muertos, a Jesús, quien nos libra de la ira venidera.
