1 H ow hath she sat alone, The city abounding with people! She hath been as a widow, The mighty among nations! Princes among provinces, She hath become tributary!

¡Cómo ha quedado sola la ciudad populosa! La grande entre las naciones se ha quedado como viuda, La señora entre provincias ha sido hecha tributaria.

2 S he weepeth sore in the night, And her tear on her cheeks, There is no comforter for her out of all her lovers, All her friends dealt treacherously by her, They have been to her for enemies.

Sin cesar llora en la noche, y las lágrimas surcan sus mejillas. No tiene quien la consuele de entre todos sus amantes; Todos sus amigos le han traicionado, se le volvieron enemigos.

3 R emoved hath Judah because of affliction, And because of the abundance of her service; She hath dwelt among nations, She hath not found rest, All her pursuers have overtaken her between the straits.

Judá está desterrada, sujeta a opresión y a dura servidumbre; Ella habita entre las naciones, y no halla descanso; Todos sus perseguidores la alcanzaron entre las estrechuras.

4 T he ways of Zion are mourning, Without any coming at the appointed time, All her gates are desolate, her priests sigh, Her virgins are afflicted -- and she hath bitterness.

Las calzadas de Sión están de luto, porque no hay quien venga a las fiestas solemnes; Todas sus puertas están desoladas, sus sacerdotes gimen, Sus vírgenes están afligidas, y ella está en amargura.

5 H er adversaries have become chief, Her enemies have been at ease, For Jehovah hath afflicted her, For the abundance of her transgressions, Her infants have gone captive before the adversary.

Sus enemigos han sido puestos por cabeza, sus aborrecedores fueron prosperados, Porque Jehová la afligió por la multitud de sus transgresiones; Sus hijos salieron para la cautividad delante del enemigo.

6 A nd go out from the daughter of Zion doth all her honour, Her princes have been as harts -- They have not found pasture, And they go powerless before a pursuer.

Desapareció de la hija de Sión toda su hermosura; Sus príncipes han venido a ser como ciervos que no hallan pasto, Y caminan sin fuerzas delante del perseguidor.

7 R emembered hath Jerusalem the days of her affliction and her mournings, all her desirable things that were from the days of old, In the falling of her people into the hand of an adversary, And she hath no helper; Seen her have adversaries, They have laughed at her cessation.

Jerusalén, cuando cayó su pueblo en manos del enemigo y no hubo quien la ayudase, Se acordó de los días de su aflicción, y de su vida errante, Y de todos los bienes que tuvo desde los tiempos antiguos. La miraron los enemigos, y se burlaron de su ruina.

8 A sin hath Jerusalem sinned, Therefore impure she hath become, All who honoured her have esteemed her lightly, For they have seen her nakedness, Yea, she herself hath sighed and turneth backward.

Pecado grave cometió Jerusalén, por lo cual se ha vuelto cosa impura; Todos los que la honraban la han menospreciado, porque vieron su vergüenza; Y ella suspira, y se vuelve de espaldas.

9 H er uncleanness in her skirts, She hath not remembered her latter end, And she cometh down wonderfully, There is no comforter for her. See, O Jehovah, mine affliction, For exerted himself hath an enemy.

Su inmundicia está en sus faldas, y no se acordó de su fin; Por eso ha caído de modo tan sorprendente, y no tiene quien la consuele. Mira, oh Jehová, mi aflicción, porque el enemigo se ha engrandecido.

10 H is hand spread out hath an adversary On all her desirable things, For she hath seen -- Nations have entered her sanctuary, Concerning which Thou didst command, `They do not come into the assembly to thee.'

Extendió su mano el enemigo a todas sus cosas preciosas; Ella ha visto entrar en su santuario a las naciones De las cuales mandaste que no entrasen en tu congregación.

11 A ll her people are sighing -- seeking bread, They have given their desirable things For food to refresh the body; See, O Jehovah, and behold attentively, For I have been lightly esteemed.

Todo su pueblo gime en busca de pan; Dieron por la comida todas sus cosas preciosas, para recobrar la vida. Mira, oh Jehová, y ve cómo estoy de despreciada.

12 n othing to you, all ye passing by the way? Look attentively, and see, If there is any pain like my pain, That He is rolling to me? Whom Jehovah hath afflicted In the day of the fierceness of His anger.

¿No os conmueve a cuantos pasáis por el camino? Mirad, y ved si hay un dolor como el dolor que me aflige; Porque Jehová me ha afligido en el día de su ardiente furor.

13 F rom above He hath sent fire into my bone, And it subdueth it, He hath spread a net for my feet, He hath turned me backward, He hath made me desolate -- all the day sick.

Desde lo alto envió fuego y lo hizo penetrar en mis huesos; Ha tendido una red a mis pies, me ha tirado hacia atrás, Me dejó desolada, y con dolor todo el día.

14 B ound hath been the yoke of my transgressions by His hand, They are wrapped together, They have gone up on my neck, He hath caused my power to stumble, The Lord hath given me into hands, I am not able to rise.

El yugo de mis rebeliones ha sido atado por su mano; Las ataduras han sido echadas sobre mi cuello; ha debilitado mis fuerzas; Me ha entregado el Señor a merced de aquellos ante quienes no podré resistir.

15 T rodden down all my mighty ones hath the Lord in my midst, He proclaimed against me an appointed time, To destroy my young men, A wine-press hath the Lord trodden, To the virgin daughter of Judah.

El Señor ha desechado a todos mis valientes en medio de mí; Convocó contra mí asamblea para quebrantar a mis jóvenes; Como en un lagar ha hollado el Señor a la virgen hija de Judá.

16 F or these I am weeping, My eye, my eye, is running down with waters, For, far from me hath been a comforter, Refreshing my soul, My sons have been desolate, For mighty hath been an enemy.

Por esta causa lloro; mis ojos, mis ojos se deshacen en lágrimas, Porque se alejó de mí el consolador que reanima mi alma; Mis hijos están desolados, porque el enemigo prevaleció.

17 S pread forth hath Zion her hands, There is no comforter for her, Jehovah hath charged concerning Jacob, His neighbours his adversaries, Jerusalem hath become impure among them.

Sión extendió sus manos; no tiene quien la consuele; Jehová dio mandamiento contra Jacob, que sus enemigos la cercasen; Jerusalén se ha vuelto cosa impura entre ellos.

18 R ighteous is Jehovah, For His mouth I have provoked. Hear, I pray you, all ye peoples, and see my pain, My virgins and my young men have gone into captivity.

Jehová es justo; yo contra su palabra me rebelé. Oíd ahora, pueblos todos, y ved mi dolor; Mis doncellas y mis jóvenes fueron llevados en cautiverio.

19 I called for my lovers, they -- they have deceived me, My priests and my elders in the city have expired; When they have sought food for themselves, Then they give back their soul.

Di voces a mis amantes, mas ellos me han engañado; Mis sacerdotes y mis ancianos perecieron en la ciudad, Cuando buscaban comida para sí con que reanimarse.

20 S ee, O Jehovah, for distress to me, My bowels have been troubled, Turned hath been my heart in my midst, For I have greatly provoked, From without bereaved hath the sword, In the house as death.

Mira, oh Jehová, estoy atribulada, mis entrañas hierven. Mi corazón se retuerce dentro de mí, porque me rebelé en gran manera. Por fuera, la espada me quita los hijos; por dentro, la muerte.

21 T hey have heard that I have sighed, There is no comforter for me, All my enemies have heard of my calamity, They have rejoiced that Thou hast done, Thou hast brought in the day Thou hast called, And they are like to me.

Oyeron cómo gemía, mas no hay consolador para mí; Todos mis enemigos han oído mi desgracia, y se alegran de lo que tú has hecho. Haz que llegue el día que has anunciado, y sean como yo.

22 C ome in doth all their evil before Thee, And one is doing to them as Thou hast done to me, For all my transgressions, For many my sighs, and my heart sick!

Venga delante de ti toda su maldad, Y haz con ellos como hiciste conmigo por todas mis maldades; Porque muchos son mis gemidos, y mi corazón desfallece.
