1 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, `Take to thee a great tablet, and write upon it with a graving tool of man, To haste spoil, enjoy prey.'

Me dijo Jehová: Toma una tabla grande y escribe en ella con caracteres legibles tocante a Maher-salal-has-baz;

2 A nd I cause faithful witnesses to testify to me, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.

y yo tomaré para mí por testigos fieles al sacerdote Urías y a Zacarías hijo de Jeberequías.

3 A nd I draw near unto the prophetess, and she conceiveth, and beareth a son; and Jehovah saith unto me, `Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz,

Entonces me llegué a la profetisa, la cual concibió, y dio a luz un hijo. Y me dijo Jehová: Ponle por nombre Maher-salal-has-baz.

4 f or before the youth doth know to cry, My father, and My mother, one taketh away the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria, before the king of Asshur.'

Porque antes que el niño sepa decir: Padre mío, y Madre mía, la riqueza de Damasco y los despojos de Samaria serán llevados delante del rey de Asiria. Siloé y el Eufrates

5 A nd Jehovah addeth to speak unto me again, saying:

Otra vez volvió Jehová a hablarme, diciendo:

6 ` Because that this people hath refused The waters of Shiloah that go softly, And is rejoicing with Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

Por cuanto desechó este pueblo las aguas de Siloé, que corren mansamente, y se regocijó con Rezín y con el hijo de Remalías;

7 T herefore, lo, the Lord is bringing up on them, The waters of the river, the mighty and the great, (The king of Asshur, and all his glory,) And it hath gone up over all its streams, And hath gone on over all its banks.

he aquí, por tanto, que el Señor hace subir sobre ellos aguas de ríos, impetuosas y copiosas, esto es, al rey de Asiria con todo su poder; el cual desbordará todos sus ríos, e invadirá todas sus riberas;

8 A nd it hath passed on into Judah, It hath overflown and passed over, Unto the neck it cometh, And the stretching out of its wings Hath been the fulness of the breadth of thy land, O Emmanu-El!

y pasando hasta Judá, inundará y pasará adelante, anegando a su paso hasta la garganta; y extendiendo sus alas, abarcará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emanuel.

9 B e friends, O nations, and be broken, And give ear, all ye far off ones of earth, Gird yourselves, and be broken, Gird yourselves, and be broken.

Reuníos, pueblos, y seréis quebrantados; oíd, todos los que sois de lejanas tierras; ceñíos, y seréis quebrantados; disponeos, y seréis quebrantados.

10 T ake counsel, and it is broken, Speak a word, and it doth not stand, Because of Emmanu-El!'

Trazad un plan, y fracasará; proferid palabra, y no se cumplirá; porque Dios está con nosotros.

11 F or thus hath Jehovah spoken unto me with strength of hand, and instructeth me against walking in the way of this people, saying,

Porque Jehová me dijo de esta manera con su mano fuerte sobre mí, y me enseñó que no caminase por el camino de este pueblo, diciéndome:

12 ` Ye do not say, A confederacy, To all to whom this people saith, A confederacy, And its fear ye do not fear, Nor declare fearful.

No llaméis conspiración a todas las cosas que este pueblo llama conspiración; ni temáis lo que ellos temen, ni tengáis miedo.

13 J ehovah of Hosts -- Him ye do sanctify, And He your Fear, and He your Dread,

A Jehová de los ejércitos, a él santificad; sea él vuestro temor, y él sea vuestro miedo.

14 A nd He hath been for a sanctuary, And for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling, To the two houses of Israel, For a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Entonces él será por santuario; pero a las dos casas de Israel, por piedra para tropezar, y por peña de escándalo, y por lazo y por red al morador de Jerusalén.

15 A nd many among them have stumbled and fallen, And been broken, and snared, and captured.

Y muchos entre ellos tropezarán, y caerán, y serán quebrantados; y serán atrapados y apresados.

16 B ind up the testimony, Seal the law among My disciples.

Ata el testimonio, sella la instrucción entre mis discípulos.

17 A nd I have waited for Jehovah, Who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob, And I have looked for Him.

Esperaré, pues, a Jehová, el cual escondió su rostro de la casa de Jacob, y en él confiaré.

18 L o, I, and the children whom Jehovah hath given to me, for signs and for wonders in Israel, From Jehovah of Hosts, who is dwelling in Mount Zion.

He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dio Jehová somos por señales y presagios en Israel, de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos, que mora en el monte de Sión. Contra los adivinos

19 A nd when they say unto you, `Seek unto those having familiar spirits, And unto wizards, who chatter and mutter, Doth not a people seek unto its God? -- For the living unto the dead!

Y cuando os digan: Preguntad a los encantadores y a los adivinos, que susurran y bisbisean, responded: ¿No consultará el pueblo a su Dios? ¿Consultará a los muertos por los vivos?

20 T o the law and to the testimony! If not, let them say after this manner, `That there is no dawn to it.'

¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si no dijeren conforme a esto, es porque no les ha amanecido.

21 - - And it hath passed over into it, hardened and hungry, And it hath come to pass, That it is hungry, and hath been wroth, And made light of its king, and of its God, And hath looked upwards.

Y pasarán por la tierra fatigados y hambrientos, y acontecerá que teniendo hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán a su rey y a su Dios, levantando el rostro en alto.

22 A nd unto the land it looketh attentively, And lo, adversity and darkness! -- Dimness, distress, and thick darkness is driven away, But not the dimness for which she is in distress!

Y mirarán a la tierra, y he aquí tribulación y tinieblas, oscuridad y angustia; y serán sumidos en densas tinieblas.
