1 A son of twenty years Ahaz in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he hath not done that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, as David his father,

De veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David su padre.

2 a nd walketh in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also, molten images hath made for Baalim,

Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, llegando a fundir imágenes de los baales.

3 a nd himself hath made perfume in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burneth his sons with fire according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, e hizo pasar a sus hijos por fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que Jehová había arrojado de la presencia de los hijos de Israel.

4 a nd sacrificeth and maketh perfume in high places, and on the heights, and under every green tree.

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 A nd Jehovah his God giveth him into the hand of the king of Aram, and they smite him, and take captive from him a great captivity, and bring in to Damascus, and also into the hand of the king of Israel he hath been given, and he smiteth him -- a great smiting.

Por lo cual Jehová su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales lo derrotaron, y le tomaron gran número de prisioneros que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo batió con gran mortandad.

6 A nd Pekah son of Remaliah slayeth in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day (the whole sons of valour), because of their forsaking Jehovah, God of their fathers.

Porque Peka hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil hombres valientes, por cuanto habían dejado a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

7 A nd Zichri, a mighty one of Ephraim, slayeth Maaseiah son of the king, and Azrikam leader of the house, and Elkanah second to the king.

Asimismo Zicrí, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcaná, segundo después del rey.

8 A nd the sons of Israel take captive of their brethren, two hundred thousand, wives, sons and daughters, and also much spoil they have seized from them, and they bring in the spoil to Samaria.

También los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil, mujeres, muchachos y muchachas, además de haber tomado de ellos mucho botín que llevaron a Samaria.

9 A nd there hath been there a prophet of Jehovah (Oded his name), and he goeth out before the host that hath come in to Samaria, and saith to them, `Lo, in the fury of Jehovah God of your fathers against Judah, He hath given them into your hand, and ye slay among them in rage -- unto the heavens it hath come;

Había entonces allí un profeta de Jehová que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí, Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con un furor que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

10 a nd now, sons of Judah and Jerusalem ye are saying to subdue for men-servants and for maid-servants to you; but are there not with you causes of guilt before Jehovah your God?

Y ahora habéis determinado someter a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas; mas ¿no habéis pecado vosotros contra Jehová vuestro Dios?

11 a nd now, hear me, and send back the captives whom ye have taken captive of your brethren, for the heat of the anger of Jehovah upon you.'

Oídme, pues, ahora, y devolved los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque el furor de la cólera de Jehová está contra vosotros.

12 A nd certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim (Azariah son of Johanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai), rise up against those coming in from the host,

Entonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasá hijo de Hadlay, contra los que venían de la guerra.

13 a nd say to them, `Ye do not bring in the captives hither, for, to guilt against Jehovah on us, ye are saying to add unto our sin and unto our guilt? for abundant the guilt we have, and the fierceness of anger on Israel.'

Y les dijeron: No traigáis aquí a los cautivos, porque el pecado contra Jehová estará sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, que ya son demasiado grandes, y el ardor de la ira está contra Israel.

14 A nd the armed men leave the captives and the prey before the heads and all the assembly;

Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y el botín delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

15 a nd the men who have been expressed by name rise and take hold on the captives, and all their naked ones they have clothed from the spoil, yea, they clothe them, and shoe them, and cause them to eat and drink, and anoint them, and lead them on asses, even every feeble one, and bring them in to Jericho, the city of palms, near their brethren, and turn back to Samaria.

Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron a los cautivos, y del despojo vistieron a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron, los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los débiles, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos se volvieron a Samaria.

16 A t that time hath king Ahaz sent unto the king of Asshur to give help to him;

En aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudasen.

17 a nd again the Edomites have come, and smite in Judah, and take captive a captivity.

Porque también los edomitas habían venido y atacado a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.

18 A nd the Philistines have rushed against the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and capture Beth-Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho and its villages, and Timnah and its villages, and Gimzo and its villages, and dwell there,

Asimismo los filisteos se habían extendido por las ciudades de la llanura y del Négueb de Judá, y habían tomado Bet-semes, Ajalón, Gederot, Socó con sus aldeas, Timná también con sus aldeas, y Gimzó con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.

19 f or Jehovah hath humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he made free with Judah, even to commit a trespass against Jehovah.

Porque Jehová había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel, por cuanto él había actuado desenfrenadamente en Judá, y había prevaricado gravemente contra Jehová.

20 A nd Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur cometh in unto him, and doth distress him, and hath not strengthened him,

También vino contra él Tilgat-pilneser rey de los asirios, quien lo redujo a estrechez, y no le ayudó.

21 t hough Ahaz hath taken a portion of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king, and of the princes, and giveth to the king of Asshur, yet it is no help to him.

No obstante que despojó Acaz la casa de Jehová, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, éste no le ayudó.

22 A nd in the time of his distress -- he addeth to trespass against Jehovah, (this king Ahaz),

Además el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquél le apuraba, añadió mayor pecado contra Jehová;

23 a nd he sacrificeth to the gods of Damascus -- those smiting him, and saith, `Because the gods of the kings of Aram are helping them, to them I sacrifice, and they help me,' and they have been to him to cause him to stumble, and to all Israel.

porque ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que le habían derrotado, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también ofreceré sacrificios a ellos para que me ayuden; bien que fueron éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.

24 A nd Ahaz gathereth the vessels of the house of God, and cutteth in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shutteth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and maketh to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem.

Además de eso, recogió Acaz los utensilios de la casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la casa de Jehová, y se hizo altares en todos los rincones de Jerusalén.

25 A nd in every city and city of Judah he hath made high places to make perfume to other gods, and provoketh Jehovah, God of his fathers.

Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando así a ira a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

26 A nd the rest of his matters, and all his ways, the first and the last, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Los demás de sus hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 A nd Ahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city, in Jerusalem, but have not brought him in to the graves of the kings of Israel, and reign doth Hezekiah his son in his stead.

Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén, pero no lo metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
