1 A nd Mordecai hath known all that hath been done, and Mordecai rendeth his garments, and putteth on sackcloth and ashes, and goeth forth into the midst of the city and crieth -- a cry loud and bitter,

Luego que supo Mardoqueo todo lo que se había hecho, rasgó sus vestidos, se vistió de saco y, cubierto de ceniza, se fue por la ciudad clamando con grande y amargo clamor.

2 a nd he cometh in unto the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come in unto the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.

Y vino hasta delante de la puerta del rey; pues no era lícito pasar adentro de la puerta del rey con vestido de saco.

3 A nd in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.

Y en cada provincia y lugar donde el mandamiento del rey y su decreto llegaba, tenían los judíos gran luto, ayuno, lloro y lamentación; saco y ceniza era la cama de muchos.

4 A nd young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sendeth garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he hath not received.

Y vinieron las doncellas de Ester, y sus eunucos, y se lo dijeron. Entonces la reina tuvo gran dolor, y envió vestidos para hacer vestir a Mardoqueo, y hacerle quitar el saco; mas él no los aceptó.

5 A nd Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this, and wherefore this.

Entonces Ester llamó a Hatac, uno de los eunucos del rey, que él había puesto al servicio de ella, y lo envió a Mardoqueo, con orden de saber qué sucedía, y por qué estaba así.

6 A nd Hatach goeth out unto Mordecai, unto a broad place of the city, that before the gate of the king,

Salió, pues, Hatac a ver a Mardoqueo, a la plaza de la ciudad, que estaba delante de la puerta del rey.

7 a nd Mordecai declareth to him all that hath met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,

Y Mardoqueo le declaró todo lo que había acontecido, y le dio noticia de la plata que Amán había dicho que pesaría para los tesoros del rey a cambio de la destrucción de los judíos.

8 a nd the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.

Le dio también copia del decreto de exterminio que había sido dado en Susa, a fin de que la mostrase a Ester para su conocimiento, y le encargara que fuese ante el rey a suplicarle y a interceder delante de él por su pueblo.

9 A nd Hatach cometh in and declareth to Esther the words of Mordecai,

Vino Hatac y contó a Ester las palabras de Mardoqueo.

10 a nd Esther speaketh to Hatach, and chargeth him for Mordecai:

Entonces Ester dijo a Hatac que le dijese a Mardoqueo:

11 ` All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called -- one law his to put to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I -- I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.'

Todos los siervos del rey, y el pueblo de las provincias del rey, saben que cualquier hombre o mujer que entra en el patio interior para ver al rey, sin ser llamado, una sola ley hay respecto a él: ha de morir; salvo aquel a quien el rey extienda el cetro de oro, el cual vivirá; y yo no he sido llamada para ver al rey estos treinta días.

12 A nd they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,

Y dijeron a Mardoqueo las palabras de Ester.

13 a nd Mordecai speaketh to send back unto Esther: `Do not think in thy soul to be delivered the house of the king, more than all the Jews,

Entonces dijo Mardoqueo que respondiesen a Ester: No te imagines que por estar en la casa del rey te vas a librar tú sola más que cualquier otro judío.

14 b ut if thou keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remaineth to the Jews from another place, and thou and the house of thy fathers are destroyed; and who knoweth whether for a time like this thou hast come to the kingdom?'

Porque si callas absolutamente en este tiempo, vendrá de alguna otra parte respiro y liberación para los judíos; mas tú y la casa de tu padre pereceréis. ¿Y quién sabe si para una ocasión como ésta has llegado a ser reina?

15 A nd Esther speaketh to send back unto Mordecai:

Y Ester dijo que respondiesen a Mardoqueo:

16 ` Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that not according to law, and when I have perished -- I have perished.'

Ve y reúne a todos los judíos que se hallan en Susa, y ayunad por mí, y no comáis ni bebáis en tres días, noche y día; yo también con mis doncellas ayunaré igualmente, y entonces entraré a ver al rey, aunque no sea conforme a la ley; y si perezco, que perezca.

17 A nd Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.

Entonces Mardoqueo fue, e hizo conforme a todo lo que le mandó Ester.
