1 S aying, `Lo, one sendeth away his wife, And she hath gone from him, And she hath been to another man, Doth he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And thou hast committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.

Dicen: Si alguno deja a su mujer, y yéndose ésta de él se junta a otro hombre, ¿volverá a ella más? ¿No será tal tierra del todo mancillada? Tú, pues, has fornicado con muchos amantes; y, con todo, ¿quieres volver a mí?, dice Jehová.

2 L ift thine eyes to the high places, and see, Where hast thou not been lain with? On the ways thou hast sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And thou defilest the land, By thy fornications, and by thy wickedness.

Alza tus ojos a las alturas, y ve si hay lugar en que no te hayas prostituido. Junto a los caminos te sentabas para ellos como árabe en el desierto, y con tus fornicaciones y con tu maldad has contaminado la tierra.

3 A nd withheld are showers, and gathered rain hath not been. The forehead of a whorish woman thou hast, Thou hast refused to be ashamed.

Por esta causa las aguas han sido detenidas, y faltó la lluvia tardía; y has tenido frente de ramera, y no quisiste tener vergüenza.

4 H ast thou not henceforth called to Me, `My father, Thou the leader of my youth?

A lo menos desde ahora, ¿no me llamarás a mí: Padre mío, tú eres el amigo de mi juventud?

5 D oth He keep to the age? watch for ever?' Lo, these things thou hast spoken, And thou dost the evil things, and prevailest.

¿Guardará su enojo para siempre? ¿Hasta el final lo guardará? He aquí cómo has hablado, pero has hecho maldades y las has colmado. Jehová exhorta a Israel y a Judá al arrepentimiento

6 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, in the days of Josiah the king, `Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there.

Me dijo Jehová en los días del rey Josías: ¿Has visto lo que ha hecho la apóstata Israel? Ella se fue sobre todo monte alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso, y allí ha fornicado.

7 A nd I say, after her doing all these, Unto Me thou dost turn back, and she hath not turned back, and see doth her treacherous sister Judah.

Y dije: Después de hacer todo esto, se volverá a mí; pero no se volvió, y lo vio su hermana la traidora Judá.

8 A nd I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister hath not feared, and goeth and committeth fornication -- she also.

Ella vio que por haber cometido adulterio la apóstata Israel, yo la había despedido y le había dado carta de repudio; pero no tuvo temor la pérfida Judá su hermana, sino que también fue ella y fornicó.

9 A nd it hath come to pass, from the vileness of her fornication, that the land is defiled, and she committeth fornication with stone and with wood.

Y sucedió que por la ligereza de su fornicación, la tierra fue contaminada, y adulteró con la piedra y con el leño.

10 A nd even in all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned back unto Me with all her heart, but with falsehood, an affirmation of Jehovah.'

Con todo esto, su hermana la pérfida Judá no se volvió a mí de todo corazón, sino fingidamente, dice Jehová.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: `Justified herself hath backsliding Israel, More than treacherous Judah.

Y me dijo Jehová: Ha resultado justa la apóstata Israel en comparación con la desleal Judá.

12 G o, and thou hast proclaimed these words toward the north, and hast said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I kind, an affirmation of Jehovah, I watch not to the age.

Ve y proclama estas palabras hacia el norte, y di: Vuélvete, oh apóstata Israel, dice Jehová; no haré caer mi ira sobre ti, porque misericordioso soy yo, dice Jehová, no guardaré para siempre el enojo.

13 O nly, know thine iniquity, For against Jehovah thy God thou hast transgressed, And thou dost scatter thy ways to strangers, Under every green tree, And to My voice thou hast not hearkened, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Tan sólo, reconoce tu maldad, que contra Jehová tu Dios has prevaricado, y te diste a dioses extranjeros debajo de todo árbol frondoso, y no oíste mi voz, dice Jehová.

14 T urn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Jehovah. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

Convertíos, hijos apóstatas, dice Jehová, porque yo soy vuestro señor; y os tomaré uno de cada ciudad, y dos de cada familia, y os introduciré en Sión;

15 A nd I have given to you shepherds According to Mine own heart, And they have fed you with knowledge and understanding.

y os daré pastores según mi corazón, que os apacienten con conocimiento y con inteligencia.

16 A nd it hath come to pass, when ye are multiplied, And have been fruitful in the land, In those days -- an affirmation of Jehovah, They say not any more, `The ark of the covenant of Jehovah,' Nor doth it go up on the heart, Nor do they remember concerning it, Nor do they inspect, nor is it made again.

Y acontecerá que cuando os multipliquéis y crezcáis en la tierra, en esos días, dice Jehová, no se dirá más: Arca del pacto de Jehová; ni vendrá al pensamiento, ni se hará mención de ella, ni la echarán de menos, ni se hará otra.

17 A t that time they cry to Jerusalem, `O throne of Jehovah,' And gathered unto her hath been all the nations, For the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem, Nor do they go any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

En aquel tiempo llamarán a Jerusalén: Trono de Jehová; y todas las naciones se reunirán con ella en el nombre de Jehová en Jerusalén; ni andarán más tras la dureza de su malvado corazón.

18 I n those days do the house of Judah Go unto the house of Israel, And they come together from the land of the south, unto the land That I caused your fathers to inherit.

En aquellos días andará la casa de Judá con la casa de Israel, y vendrán juntamente de la tierra del norte a la tierra que hice heredar a vuestros padres. Prosigue el poema de la conversión

19 A nd I have said, How do I put thee among the sons, And give to thee a desirable land, A beauteous inheritance of the hosts of nations, And I say, My father -- ye do call to Me, And from after Me ye do not turn back.

Pero yo había dicho: ¿Cómo te pondré entre los hijos, y te daré la tierra deseable, la más excelente heredad de las naciones? Y dije: Me llamarás: Padre mío; y no te apartarás de en pos de mí.

20 B ut -- a woman hath deceived her friend, So ye have dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah.

Pero como la esposa infiel abandona a su compañero, así fuisteis desleales contra mí, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová.

21 A voice on high places is heard -- weeping, Supplications of the sons of Israel, For they have made perverse their way, They have forgotten Jehovah their God.

Voz fue oída sobre las alturas, el llanto suplicante de los hijos de Israel; porque han pervertido su camino, de Jehová su Dios se han olvidado.

22 T urn back, O backsliding sons, I cause your backslidings to cease. -- Behold us, we have come to Thee, For Thou Jehovah our God.

Volveos, hijos apóstatas, y sanaré vuestras apostasías. Aquí estamos; hemos venido a ti, porque tú eres Jehová nuestro Dios.

23 S urely in vain from the heights, The multitude of mountains -- Surely in Jehovah our God the salvation of Israel.

Ciertamente falsedad eran los collados, y el bullicio sobre los montes; ciertamente en Jehová nuestro Dios está la salvación de Israel.

24 A nd the shameful thing hath devoured The labour of our fathers from our youth, Their flock and their herd, Their sons and their daughters.

La confusión consumió el trabajo de nuestros padres desde nuestra juventud; sus ovejas, sus vacas, sus hijos y sus hijas.

25 W e have lain down in our shame, and cover us doth our confusion, For against Jehovah our God we have sinned, We, and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, Nor have we hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God!

Yazcamos en nuestra confusión, y que nuestra afrenta nos cubra; porque hemos pecado contra Jehová nuestro Dios, nosotros y nuestros padres, desde nuestra juventud y hasta este día, y no hemos atendido a la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios.
