1 S aying, `Lo, one sendeth away his wife, And she hath gone from him, And she hath been to another man, Doth he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And thou hast committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.

»Dicen que si alguien despide a su mujer, y ésta se va y cohabita con otro hombre, su esposo ya no vuelve a vivir con ella, pues la tierra quedaría totalmente mancillada. Sin embargo, tú has cohabitado con muchos hombres, ¡y vuelves a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

2 L ift thine eyes to the high places, and see, Where hast thou not been lain with? On the ways thou hast sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And thou defilest the land, By thy fornications, and by thy wickedness.

»Levanta los ojos, y mira a las alturas. ¿En dónde no te has prostituido? Te sentabas a esperarlos junto a los caminos, como un beduino en el desierto, y con tus prostituciones y con tu maldad contaminaste la tierra.

3 A nd withheld are showers, and gathered rain hath not been. The forehead of a whorish woman thou hast, Thou hast refused to be ashamed.

Por eso se han retrasado las lluvias, y no han llegado las lluvias tardías. Tienes la facha de una ramera; ¡no sabes lo que es tener vergüenza!

4 H ast thou not henceforth called to Me, `My father, Thou the leader of my youth?

¡Y todavía me llamas “Padre mío, amor de mi juventud”!

5 D oth He keep to the age? watch for ever?' Lo, these things thou hast spoken, And thou dost the evil things, and prevailest.

¡Todavía me dices “¿Vas a estar enojado todo el tiempo? ¿Siempre vas a guardarme rencor?” Y mientras estás hablando, ¡cometes cuantas maldades puedes!» Llamado al arrepentimiento

6 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, in the days of Josiah the king, `Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there.

En los días del rey Josías el Señor me dijo: «¿Has visto lo que ha hecho la rebelde Israel? ¡Va y se prostituye en lo alto de cualquier monte, o a la sombra de cualquier árbol frondoso!

7 A nd I say, after her doing all these, Unto Me thou dost turn back, and she hath not turned back, and see doth her treacherous sister Judah.

Yo pensaba que, después de todo eso, se volvería a mí; pero no fue así. Esto lo vio su hermana, la rebelde Judá;

8 A nd I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister hath not feared, and goeth and committeth fornication -- she also.

vio que yo había despedido y repudiado a Israel por su infidelidad y sus prostituciones. Pero tampoco ella tuvo temor, sino que con la misma rebeldía de su hermana, fue y se prostituyó.

9 A nd it hath come to pass, from the vileness of her fornication, that the land is defiled, and she committeth fornication with stone and with wood.

Como Israel tomó a la ligera sus prostituciones, y adulteró con ídolos de piedra y de madera, la tierra quedó contaminada.

10 A nd even in all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned back unto Me with all her heart, but with falsehood, an affirmation of Jehovah.'

Pero ni así se volvió a mí de todo corazón su hermana, la rebelde Judá. Sólo fingió volverse a mí.» —Palabra del Señor.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: `Justified herself hath backsliding Israel, More than treacherous Judah.

El Señor me dijo: «La rebeldía de Israel es un acto de justicia, si la comparo con la infidelidad de Judá.

12 G o, and thou hast proclaimed these words toward the north, and hast said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I kind, an affirmation of Jehovah, I watch not to the age.

Ve ahora al norte, y proclama allí estas palabras: “Israel, no seas rebelde y vuélvete a mí. No voy a descargar mi enojo sobre ti, ni te voy a guardar rencor, porque yo soy misericordioso. Palabra del Señor.

13 O nly, know thine iniquity, For against Jehovah thy God thou hast transgressed, And thou dost scatter thy ways to strangers, Under every green tree, And to My voice thou hast not hearkened, An affirmation of Jehovah.

”Reconoce que has pecado contra el Señor tu Dios; reconoce que a la sombra de cualquier árbol frondoso te has prostituido con gente extraña, y que no has querido obedecerme. —Palabra del Señor.

14 T urn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Jehovah. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

”Vuélvanse a mí, hijos rebeldes. Yo soy su Señor. De cada ciudad tomaré a uno de ustedes, y de cada familia tomaré a dos, y los introduciré en Sión. —Palabra del Señor.

15 A nd I have given to you shepherds According to Mine own heart, And they have fed you with knowledge and understanding.

”Yo les daré gobernantes que los cuiden y alimenten de manera sabia e inteligente; gobernantes que hagan mi voluntad.

16 A nd it hath come to pass, when ye are multiplied, And have been fruitful in the land, In those days -- an affirmation of Jehovah, They say not any more, `The ark of the covenant of Jehovah,' Nor doth it go up on the heart, Nor do they remember concerning it, Nor do they inspect, nor is it made again.

Y cuando ustedes se hayan multiplicado y reproducido en la tierra, no volverá a decirse: ‘Arca del pacto del Señor’. No volverán a evocarla; ¡no volverán a acordarse de ella, ni la echarán de menos! ¡Tampoco volverá a hacerse otra! —Palabra del Señor.

17 A t that time they cry to Jerusalem, `O throne of Jehovah,' And gathered unto her hath been all the nations, For the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem, Nor do they go any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

”Cuando llegue ese día, Jerusalén será llamada ‘Trono del Señor’. Todas las naciones vendrán a ella en el nombre del Señor, y no volverán a seguir los dictados de su malvado corazón.

18 I n those days do the house of Judah Go unto the house of Israel, And they come together from the land of the south, unto the land That I caused your fathers to inherit.

Cuando llegue ese día, los de la casa de Judá irán a la casa de Israel, y de la tierra del norte vendrán juntos a la tierra que di a sus padres por herencia.

19 A nd I have said, How do I put thee among the sons, And give to thee a desirable land, A beauteous inheritance of the hosts of nations, And I say, My father -- ye do call to Me, And from after Me ye do not turn back.

”Yo me preguntaba: ‘¿Cómo podré contarlos como hijos míos, y darles esta tierra deseable, la heredad más rica de las naciones?’ Entonces pensé: ‘Ustedes me llamarán Padre mío, y nunca se apartarán de mí.’

20 B ut -- a woman hath deceived her friend, So ye have dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah.

Pero ustedes, casa de Israel, pecaron contra mí ¡como la esposa infiel que abandona a su compañero!”» —Palabra del Señor.

21 A voice on high places is heard -- weeping, Supplications of the sons of Israel, For they have made perverse their way, They have forgotten Jehovah their God.

Se oye un clamor en las alturas. Son el llanto y los ruegos de los hijos de Israel, porque han torcido su camino y se han olvidado del Señor su Dios.

22 T urn back, O backsliding sons, I cause your backslidings to cease. -- Behold us, we have come to Thee, For Thou Jehovah our God.

«¡Vuélvanse a mí, hijos rebeldes! ¡Yo sanaré sus rebeliones!» «Aquí estamos, y a ti venimos, porque tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios.

23 S urely in vain from the heights, The multitude of mountains -- Surely in Jehovah our God the salvation of Israel.

Las colinas y el bullicio de los montes no son más que vanidad. La salvación de Israel radica en ti, Señor y Dios nuestro.

24 A nd the shameful thing hath devoured The labour of our fathers from our youth, Their flock and their herd, Their sons and their daughters.

Desde que éramos jóvenes, el oprobio ha consumido la obra de nuestros padres: lo mismo sus ovejas que sus vacas; lo mismo sus hijos que sus hijas.

25 W e have lain down in our shame, and cover us doth our confusion, For against Jehovah our God we have sinned, We, and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, Nor have we hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God!

En ese oprobio nos hallamos. La vergüenza nos envuelve, porque desde nuestra juventud y hasta este día, nosotros y nuestros padres hemos pecado contra ti, Señor y Dios nuestro. ¡No hemos querido obedecer tu voz!»
