1 A t that time, an affirmation of Jehovah, They bring the bones of the kings of Judah, And the bones of its princes, And the bones of the priests, And the bones of the prophets, And the bones of inhabitants of Jerusalem, Out of their graves,

»Cuando llegue el momento, se sacarán de sus sepulcros los huesos de los reyes de Judá y de sus príncipes, los huesos de los sacerdotes y de los profetas, y los huesos de los habitantes de Jerusalén. —Palabra del Señor.

2 A nd have spread them to sun, and to moon, And to all the host of the heavens, that they have loved, And that they have served, And that they have walked after, And that they have sought, And to which they have bowed themselves, They are not gathered, nor buried, They are for dung on the face of the ground.

»Puesto que ellos amaron y sirvieron al sol, a la luna y a todo el ejército del cielo, y se postraron delante de ellos y los siguieron y consultaron, sus huesos no serán recogidos ni enterrados, sino que serán lanzados a esos astros, y se quedarán tirados como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.

3 A nd chosen is death rather than life By all the remnant who are left of this evil family, In all the remaining places, whither I have driven them, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

A dondequiera que yo arroje a los pocos sobrevivientes de esta mala generación, éstos preferirán morir antes que seguir viviendo. —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

4 A nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah, Do they fall, and not rise? Doth he turn back, and not return?

»También les dirás: “Así ha dicho el Señor: ¿Acaso el que cae no se levanta? ¿Y acaso el que se desvía no vuelve al camino?

5 W herefore hath this people of Jerusalem Turned back -- a perpetual backsliding? They have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back.

¿Por qué, entonces, este pueblo de Jerusalén es rebelde todo el tiempo? Se aferran al engaño, y no quieren volverse a mí.

6 I have given attention, yea, I hearken, They do not speak right, No man hath repented of his wickedness, Saying, What have I done? Every one hath turned to his courses, As a horse is rushing into battle.

Les he prestado atención, y he escuchado lo que dicen. No hablan con rectitud, y no hay nadie que se arrepienta de su maldad. Nadie se pregunta: ‘¿Pero qué he hecho?’ Son como caballos desbocados en medio de una batalla: cada uno corre como mejor le conviene.

7 E ven a stork in the heavens hath known her seasons, And turtle, and swallow, and crane, Have watched the time of their coming, And -- My people have not known the judgment of Jehovah.

Hasta la cigüeña en el cielo sabe cuándo ha llegado su tiempo. La tórtola, la grulla y la golondrina respetan los tiempos de su llegada. ¡En cambio, mi pueblo no conoce la justicia de su Señor!”

8 H ow do ye say, We wise, And the law of Jehovah with us? Surely, lo, falsely it hath wrought, The false pen of scribes.

»¿Cómo pueden decir que son sabios, y que la ley del Señor está con ellos? Lo cierto es que la pluma mentirosa de los escribas la ha convertido en mentira.

9 A shamed have been the wise, They have been affrighted, and are captured, Lo, against a word of Jehovah they kicked, And the wisdom of what -- have they?

Los sabios se avergüenzan, se espantan y quedan consternados. Es un hecho que aborrecen la palabra del Señor. Entonces, ¿de qué sabiduría hablan?

10 T herefore, I give their wives to others, Their fields to dispossessors, For from the least even unto the greatest, Every one is gaining dishonest gain, From prophet even unto priest, every one is dealing falsely.

Por lo tanto, voy a entregar a otros sus mujeres, y sus campos a quienes los conquisten; porque todos, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, sólo siguen sus propios intereses; todos, desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, sólo saben engañar.

11 A nd they heal the breach of the daughter of my people slightly, Saying, Peace, peace! and there is no peace.

Se les hace fácil sanar la herida de la hija mi pueblo, con sólo decir “¡Paz, paz!” ¡Pero no hay paz!

12 T hey were ashamed when they did abomination! Yea, they are not at all ashamed, And blushing they have not known, Therefore, they do fall among falling ones, In the time of their inspection they stumble, said Jehovah.

¿Acaso se avergüenzan de los hechos repugnantes que cometen? ¡No les causa la más mínima vergüenza! ¡No saben lo que es tener vergüenza! Por eso les advierto que, cuando los castigue, morirán entre los que van a morir.

13 I utterly consume them, an affirmation of Jehovah, There are no grapes in the vine, Yea, there are no figs in the fig-tree, And the leaf hath faded, And the strength they have passeth from them.

Voy a arrancarlos por completo. No quedarán uvas en la vid, ni higos en la higuera. Todas las hojas se caerán. ¡Voy a quitarles lo que les había dado!» —Palabra del Señor.

14 W herefore are we sitting still? Be gathered, and we go in to the fenced cities, And we are silent there, For Jehovah our God hath made us silent, Yea, He causeth us to drink water of gall, For we have sinned against Jehovah.

¿Qué hacemos aquí, sentados? ¡Vamos a juntarnos, y entremos en las ciudades fortificadas para morir allí! El Señor nuestro Dios nos ha condenado a morir; nos ha dado a beber aguas amargas, porque pecamos contra él.

15 L ooking for peace -- and there is no good, For a time of healing, and lo, terror.

Esperábamos vivir en paz, y no llegó el bien; esperábamos el momento de sanar, y sólo vemos confusión.

16 F rom Dan hath been heard the snorting of his horses, From the voice of the neighings of his mighty ones, Trembled hath all the land, And they come in and consume the land and its fulness, The city and the inhabitants in it.

Desde Dan se oye cómo resoplan los caballos. Tiembla la tierra al escucharse los relinchos de los corceles. Llegaron y acabaron con la tierra y su abundancia, con la ciudad y sus habitantes.

17 F or, lo, I am sending among you serpents, Vipers that have no charmer, And they have bitten you, an affirmation of Jehovah.

«Es que yo estoy lanzando contra ustedes serpientes y áspides, para que los muerdan. Contra ellas, no hay encantamiento que sirva.» —Palabra del Señor. Lamento sobre Judá y Jerusalén

18 M y refreshing for me sorrow, For me my heart sick.

Es tan grande el dolor que siento, que mi corazón desfallece.

19 L o, the voice of a cry of the daughter of my people from a land afar off, Is Jehovah not in Zion? is her king not in her? Wherefore have they provoked Me with their graven images, With the vanities of a foreigner?

Escuchen el clamor de la hija de mi pueblo, que viene de lejanas tierras, y pregunta: «¿Acaso ya no está el Señor en Sión? ¿Acaso ya no está en ella su Rey?» Y el Señor contesta: «¿Por qué me hicieron enojar con sus imágenes talladas y con falsos dioses ajenos?»

20 H arvest hath passed, summer hath ended, And we -- we have not been saved.

Ya ha terminado la cosecha; ya pasó el verano. ¡Y nosotros no hemos sido salvados!

21 F or a breach of the daughter of my people have I been broken, I have been black, astonishment hath seized me.

La ruina de la hija de mi pueblo me tiene destrozado. Me siento apesadumbrado, ¡sobrecogido de terror!

22 I s there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? For wherefore hath not the health of the daughter of my people gone up?

¿Acaso ya no hay bálsamo en Galaad? ¿No hay allí ningún médico? Si lo hay, ¿por qué no hay medicina para la hija de mi pueblo?
