1 A nd Jehovah saith unto Abram, `Go for thyself, from thy land, and from thy kindred, and from the house of thy father, unto the land which I shew thee.

Pero el Señor le había dicho a Abrán: «Vete de tu tierra y de tu parentela, y de la casa de tu padre, a la tierra que te mostraré.

2 A nd I make thee become a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.

Yo haré de ti una nación grande. Te bendeciré, y engrandeceré tu nombre, y serás bendición.

3 A nd I bless those blessing thee, and him who is disesteeming thee I curse, and blessed in thee have been all families of the ground.'

Bendeciré a los que te bendigan, y maldeciré a los que te maldigan; y en ti serán benditas todas las familias de la tierra.»

4 A nd Abram goeth on, as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and Lot goeth with him, and Abram a son of five and seventy years in his going out from Charan.

Y Abrán se fue, tal y como el Señor le dijo, y Lot se fue con él. Abrán tenía setenta y cinco años de edad cuando salió de Jarán.

5 A nd Abram taketh Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they have gained, and the persons that they have obtained in Charan; and they go out to go towards the land of Canaan; and they come in to the land of Canaan.

Tomó Abrán a Saraí, su mujer, y a Lot, hijo de su hermano, y todos los bienes que ellos habían acumulado y las personas que habían adquirido en Jarán, y salieron para ir a la tierra de Canaán. Y llegaron a la tierra de Canaán.

6 A nd Abram passeth over into the land, unto the place Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite then in the land.

Abrán cruzó toda aquella tierra, hasta llegar a Siquén, hasta el encino de More. En aquel tiempo los cananeos habitaban esa tierra.

7 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto Abram, and saith, `To thy seed I give this land;' and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, who hath appeared unto him.

Y el Señor se le apareció a Abrán, y le dijo: «A tu descendencia le daré esta tierra.» Y él edificó allí un altar al Señor, que se le había aparecido.

8 A nd he removeth from thence towards a mountain at the east of Beth-El, and stretcheth out the tent (Beth-El at the west, and Hai at the east), and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and preacheth in the name of Jehovah.

De allí se fue a un monte al oriente de Betel, donde plantó su tienda. Al occidente tenía a Betel, y al oriente a Hai. Allí edificó un altar al Señor, e invocó el nombre del Señor.

9 A nd Abram journeyeth, going on and journeying towards the south.

De allí Abrán partió hacia el Néguev, avanzando poco a poco. Abrán en Egipto

10 A nd there is a famine in the land, and Abram goeth down towards Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine grievous in the land;

Sucedió que hubo hambre en la tierra, y Abrán descendió a Egipto para vivir allá, pues arreció el hambre en la tierra.

11 a nd it cometh to pass as he hath drawn near to enter Egypt, that he saith unto Sarai his wife, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that thou a woman of beautiful appearance;

Cuando ya estaba él por entrar en Egipto, le dijo a Saraí, su mujer: «Mira, yo sé bien que eres una mujer de hermoso aspecto,

12 a nd it hath come to pass that the Egyptians see thee, and they have said, `This his wife,' and they have slain me, and thee they keep alive:

así que, cuando los egipcios te vean, dirán: “Ésta es su mujer.” Entonces me matarán a mí, y a ti te dejarán con vida.

13 s ay, I pray thee, thou my sister, so that it is well with me because of thee, and my soul hath lived for thy sake.'

Por favor, di que eres mi hermana, para que por ti me vaya bien a mí, y por ti también quede yo con vida.»

14 A nd it cometh to pass, at the entering of Abram into Egypt, that the Egyptians see the woman that she exceeding fair;

Y así sucedió. Cuando Abrán entró en Egipto, los egipcios vieron que su mujer era muy hermosa.

15 a nd princes of Pharaoh see her, and praise her unto Pharaoh, and the woman is taken Pharaoh's house;

También la vieron los príncipes del faraón, y la alabaron ante él, así que la mujer fue llevada a la casa del faraón,

16 a nd to Abram he hath done good because of her, and he hath sheep and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and handmaids, and she-asses, and camels.

quien por causa de ella trató bien a Abrán, pues le dio ovejas, vacas, asnos, siervos, criadas, asnas y camellos.

17 A nd Jehovah plagueth Pharaoh and his house -- great plagues -- for the matter of Sarai, Abram's wife.

Pero el Señor hirió a Faraón y a su casa con grandes plagas, también por causa de Saraí, la mujer de Abrán.

18 A nd Pharaoh calleth for Abram, and saith, `What this thou hast done to me? why hast thou not declared to me that she thy wife?

Entonces el faraón llamó a Abrán y le dijo: «¿Qué es lo que me has hecho? ¿Por qué no me aclaraste que ella era tu mujer?

19 W hy hast thou said, She my sister, and I take her to myself for a wife? and now, lo, thy wife, take and go.'

¿Por qué dijiste: “Es mi hermana”? ¡Pude haberla tomado como mi mujer! Así que aquí está tu mujer; tómala, y vete de aquí.»

20 A nd Pharaoh chargeth men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, an all that he hath.

Entonces Faraón dio órdenes a su gente acerca de Abrán, y ellos lo echaron de allí junto con su mujer y con todo lo que él tenía.
