1 A nd Moses answereth and saith, `And, if they do not give credence to me, nor hearken to my voice, and say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee?'

Moisés respondió: «Va a resultar que ellos no me creerán, ni oirán mi voz. Más bien, dirán: “El Señor no se te ha aparecido.”»

2 A nd Jehovah saith unto him, `What this in thy hand?' and he saith, `A rod;'

El Señor dijo: «¿Qué es lo que tienes en la mano?» Y él respondió: «Una vara.»

3 a nd He saith, `Cast it to the earth;' and he casteth it to the earth, and it becometh a serpent -- and Moses fleeth from its presence.

El Señor le dijo: «Tírala al suelo.» Y él tiró la vara al suelo, y ésta se hizo una culebra, de la cual Moisés huía.

4 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Put forth thy hand, and lay hold on the tail of it;' and he putteth forth his hand, and layeth hold on it, and it becometh a rod in his hand --

Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano, y toma la culebra por la cola.» Y él extendió la mano y la tomó, y la culebra se volvió una vara en su mano.

5 ` -- so that they believe that Jehovah, God of their fathers, hath appeared unto thee, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.'

«Con esto creerán que se te ha aparecido el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abrahán, Dios de Isaac y Dios de Jacob.»

6 A nd Jehovah saith to him again, `Put in, I pray thee, thy hand into thy bosom;' and he putteth in his hand into his bosom, and he bringeth it out, and lo, his hand leprous as snow;

Además, el Señor le dijo: «Mete ahora la mano en tu pecho.» Y él metió la mano en su pecho, y resultó que al sacarla ésta estaba leprosa como la nieve.

7 a nd He saith, `Put back thy hand unto thy bosom;' and he putteth back his hand unto his bosom, and he bringeth it out from his bosom, and lo, it hath turned back as his flesh --

Entonces dijo: «Vuelve a meter la mano en tu pecho.» Y Moisés metió otra vez la mano en su pecho, y al sacarla de nuevo del pecho, ésta estaba tan limpia como la otra carne.

8 ` -- and it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence to thee, and hearken not to the voice of the first sign, that they have given credence to the voice of the latter sign.

«Si resulta que a la voz de la primera señal no te creen ni te obedecen, te creerán a la voz de la segunda.

9 ` And it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence even to these two signs, nor hearken to thy voice, that thou hast taken of the waters of the River, and hast poured on the dry land, and the waters which thou takest from the River have been, yea, they have become -- blood on the dry land.'

Y si ni siquiera con estas dos señales te creen ni oyen tu voz, tomarás agua del río y la derramarás en el suelo; y el agua que tomes del río se convertirá en sangre al tocar el suelo.»

10 A nd Moses saith unto Jehovah, `O, my Lord, I not a man of words, either yesterday, or before, or since Thy speaking unto Thy servant, for I slow of mouth, and slow of tongue.'

Entonces Moisés le dijo al Señor: «¡Ay, Señor! Yo nunca he sido hombre de fácil palabra, ni antes ni ahora que hablas con este siervo tuyo. Y es que soy muy lento para hablar, y mi lengua es muy torpe.»

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto him, `Who appointed a mouth for man? or who appointeth the dumb, or deaf, or open, or blind? is it not I, Jehovah?

Pero el Señor le respondió: «¿Y quién le dio la boca al hombre? ¿O quién hizo al mudo y al sordo, o al que ve y al que no ve? ¿Acaso no soy yo el Señor?

12 a nd now, go, and I -- I am with thy mouth, and have directed thee that which thou speakest;'

Así que anda ya, que yo estaré con tu boca y te enseñaré lo que tengas que decir.»

13 a nd he saith, `O, my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand Thou dost send.'

Y Moisés dijo: «¡Ay, Señor! ¡Por favor, envía a quien debes enviar!»

14 A nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Moses, and He saith, `Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I have known that he speaketh well, and also, lo, he is coming out to meet thee; when he hath seen thee, then he hath rejoiced in his heart,

Entonces el Señor se enojó con Moisés, y le dijo: «¿Acaso no conozco yo a tu hermano Aarón, el levita, y sé que él habla bien? Pues él saldrá a recibirte, y al verte su corazón se alegrará.

15 a nd thou hast spoken unto him, and hast set the words in his mouth, and I -- I am with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and have directed you that which ye do;

Tú hablarás con él, y pondrás las palabras en su boca, y yo estaré con tu boca y con la suya, y les enseñaré lo que tienen que hacer.

16 a nd he, he hath spoken for thee unto the people, and it hath come to pass, he -- he is to thee for a mouth, and thou -- thou art to him for God;

Así él hablará con el pueblo por ti, como si tú mismo hablaras, y tú hablarás con él como si hablara yo.

17 a nd this rod thou dost take in thy hand, with which thou doest the signs.'

Y con la vara que tienes en la mano harás las señales.» Moisés vuelve a Egipto

18 A nd Moses goeth and turneth back unto Jethro his father-in-law, and saith to him, `Let me go, I pray thee, and I turn back unto my brethren who in Egypt, and I see whether they are yet alive.' And Jethro saith to Moses, `Go in peace.'

Fue así como Moisés se fue, y al volver a la casa de su suegro Jetro, le dijo: «Ahora voy a volver a Egipto, donde están mis hermanos. Quiero ver si aún viven.» Y Jetro le dijo a Moisés: «Vete en paz.»

19 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses in Midian, `Go, turn back to Egypt, for all the men have died who seek thy life;'

En Madián, el Señor también le dijo a Moisés: «Anda, regresa a Egipto, pues ya han muerto todos los que querían matarte.»

20 a nd Moses taketh his wife, and his sons, and causeth them to ride on the ass, and turneth back to the land of Egypt, and Moses taketh the rod of God in his hand.

Entonces Moisés tomó a su mujer y a sus hijos, y los puso sobre un asno, y volvió a la tierra de Egipto. En su mano llevaba Moisés la vara de Dios.

21 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `In thy going to turn back to Egypt, see -- all the wonders which I have put in thy hand -- that thou hast done them before Pharaoh, and I -- I strengthen his heart, and he doth not send the people away;

El Señor le había dicho a Moisés: «Cuando vuelvas a Egipto, asegúrate de hacer delante del faraón todas las maravillas que he puesto en tu mano. Yo endureceré su corazón, de modo que no dejará ir al pueblo,

22 a nd thou hast said unto Pharaoh, Thus said Jehovah, My son, My first-born Israel,

pero tú le dirás al faraón: “Así ha dicho el Señor: ‘Israel es mi hijo. Es mi primogénito.’

23 a nd I say unto thee, Send away My son, and he doth serve Me; and -- thou dost refuse to send him away -- lo, I am slaying thy son, thy first-born.'

Ya te he dicho que dejes ir a mi hijo, para que me sirva, pero tú no has querido dejarlo ir. Por eso, ahora voy a matar a tu hijo primogénito.”»

24 A nd it cometh to pass in the way, in a lodging place, that Jehovah meeteth him, and seeketh to put him to death;

Ya en el camino sucedió que, en una posada, el Señor le salió al encuentro y quiso matarlo.

25 a nd Zipporah taketh a flint, and cutteth off the foreskin of her son, and causeth to touch his feet, and saith, `Surely a bridegroom of blood thou to me;'

Pero Séfora tomó un pedernal afilado y le cortó el prepucio a su hijo; luego lo arrojó a sus pies y dijo: «A decir verdad, tú eres para mí un esposo de sangre.»

26 a nd He desisteth from him: then she said, `A bridegroom of blood,' in reference to the circumcision.

Entonces el Señor dejó ir a Moisés. Pero ella dijo «esposo de sangre» por causa de la circuncisión.

27 A nd Jehovah saith unto Aaron, `Go to meet Moses into the wilderness;' and he goeth, and meeteth him in the mount of God, and kisseth him,

El Señor le dijo a Aarón: «Ve al desierto, a recibir a Moisés.» Y Aarón fue y encontró a Moisés en el monte de Dios, y le dio un beso.

28 a nd Moses declareth to Aaron all the words of Jehovah with which He hath sent him, and all the signs with which He hath charged him.

Allí Moisés le contó a Aarón todas las palabras que el Señor le enviaba, y todas las señales que le había dado.

29 A nd Moses goeth -- Aaron also -- and they gather all the elders of the sons of Israel,

Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron a reunir a todos los ancianos de los hijos de Israel,

30 a nd Aaron speaketh all the words which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and doth the signs before the eyes of the people;

y Aarón habló de todo lo que el Señor le había dicho a Moisés, y ante los ojos del pueblo hizo las señales.

31 a nd the people believe when they hear that Jehovah hath looked after the sons of Israel, and that He hath seen their affliction; and they bow and do obeisance.

Y el pueblo creyó. Y al escuchar que el Señor había visitado a los hijos de Israel y que había visto su aflicción, se inclinaron y adoraron.
