1 T he children! obey your parents in the Lord, for this is righteous;

Hijos, obedezcan a sus padres en el nombre del Señor, porque esto es justo.

2 h onour thy father and mother,

Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, que es el primer mandamiento con promesa;

3 w hich is the first command with a promise, `That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live a long time upon the land.'

para que te vaya bien, y tengas una larga vida sobre la tierra.

4 A nd the fathers! provoke not your children, but nourish them in the instruction and admonition of the Lord.

Ustedes, los padres, no exasperen a sus hijos, sino edúquenlos en la disciplina y la instrucción del Señor.

5 T he servants! obey the masters according to the flesh with fear and trembling, in the simplicity of your heart, as to the Christ;

Ustedes, los siervos, obedezcan a sus amos terrenales con temor y temblor, y con sencillez de corazón, como obedecen a Cristo.

6 n ot with eye-service as men-pleasers, but as servants of the Christ, doing the will of God out of soul,

No actúen así sólo cuando los estén mirando, como los que quieren agradar a la gente, sino como siervos de Cristo que de corazón hacen la voluntad de Dios.

7 w ith good-will serving, as to the Lord, and not to men,

Cuando sirvan, háganlo de buena gana, como quien sirve al Señor y no a los hombres,

8 h aving known that whatever good thing each one may do, this he shall receive from the Lord, whether servant or freeman.

sabiendo que cada uno de nosotros, sea siervo o libre, recibirá del Señor según lo que haya hecho.

9 A nd the masters! the same things do ye unto them, letting threatening alone, having known that also your Master is in the heavens, and acceptance of persons is not with him.

Ustedes, los amos, hagan lo mismo con sus siervos. Ya no los amenacen. Como saben, el Señor de ellos y de ustedes está en los cielos, y él no hace acepción de personas. La armadura de Dios

10 A s to the rest, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might;

Por lo demás, hermanos míos, manténganse firmes en el Señor y en el poder de su fuerza.

11 p ut on the whole armour of God, for your being able to stand against the wiles of the devil,

Revístanse de toda la armadura de Dios, para que puedan hacer frente a las asechanzas del diablo.

12 b ecause we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

La batalla que libramos no es contra gente de carne y hueso, sino contra principados y potestades, contra los que gobiernan las tinieblas de este mundo, ¡contra huestes espirituales de maldad en las regiones celestes!

13 b ecause of this take ye up the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the day of the evil, and all things having done -- to stand.

Por lo tanto, echen mano de toda la armadura de Dios para que, cuando llegue el día malo, puedan resistir hasta el fin y permanecer firmes.

14 S tand, therefore, having your loins girt about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness,

Por tanto, manténganse firmes y fajados con el cinturón de la verdad, revestidos con la coraza de justicia,

15 a nd having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace;

y con los pies calzados con la disposición de predicar el evangelio de la paz.

16 a bove all, having taken up the shield of the faith, in which ye shall be able all the fiery darts of the evil one to quench,

Además de todo esto, protéjanse con el escudo de la fe, para que puedan apagar todas las flechas incendiarias del maligno.

17 a nd the helmet of the salvation receive, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the saying of God,

Cúbranse con el casco de la salvación, y esgriman la espada del Espíritu, que es la palabra de Dios.

18 t hrough all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --

Oren en todo tiempo con toda oración y súplica en el Espíritu, y manténganse atentos, siempre orando por todos los santos.

19 a nd in behalf of me, that to me may be given a word in the opening of my mouth, in freedom, to make known the secret of the good news,

Oren también por mí, para que cuando hable me sea dado el don de la palabra y dé a conocer sin temor el misterio del evangelio,

20 f or which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak freely -- as it behoveth me to speak.

del cual soy embajador en cadenas. Oren para que lo proclame sin ningún temor, que es como debo hacerlo. Salutaciones finales

21 A nd that ye may know -- ye also -- the things concerning me -- what I do, all things make known to you shall Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful ministrant in the Lord,

Nuestro querido hermano Tíquico, que es un fiel ministro en el Señor, habrá de comentarles todo acerca de mis actividades, para que también ustedes estén al tanto de todo.

22 w hom I did send unto you for this very thing, that ye might know the things concerning us, and that he might comfort your hearts.

Lo envío a ustedes precisamente para que sepan todo lo referente a nosotros, y para que de esa manera sus corazones reciban consuelo.

23 P eace to the brethren, and love, with faith, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Que Dios el Padre y el Señor Jesucristo concedan a los hermanos paz, amor y fe.

24 T he grace with all those loving our Lord Jesus Christ -- undecayingly! Amen.

Que la gracia sea con todos los que, con amor inalterable, aman a nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Amén.
