1 A nd it cometh to pass afterwards that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and David taketh the bridle of the metropolis out of the hand of the Philistines.

Tiempo después, David peleó contra los filisteos y los derrotó, los hizo sus súbditos y les arrebató Méteg Amá.

2 A nd he smiteth Moab, and measureth them with a line, causing them to lie down on the earth, and he measureth two lines to put to death, and the fulness of the line to keep alive, and the Moabites are to David for servants, bearers of a present.

Peleó también contra los moabitas y, como los derrotó, hizo que se tendieran en el suelo para medirlos con un cordel; a los que quedaban dentro de dos medidas del cordel, los mataba, pero dejaba con vida a los que quedaban dentro de una medida de cordel. Así los moabitas se convirtieron en sus súbditos y tuvieron que pagarle tributo.

3 A nd David smiteth Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, in his going to bring back his power by the River

David también derrotó a Hadad Ezer hijo de Rejob, rey de Soba, cuando éste iba a recuperar su territorio cerca del río Éufrates.

4 a nd David captureth from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly the whole of the charioteers, only he leaveth of them a hundred charioteers.

David capturó a mil setecientos soldados de caballería y a veinte mil soldados de infantería; a la mayoría de los caballos los desjarretó, pero dejó suficientes para tirar de cien carros.

5 A nd Aram of Damascus cometh to give help to Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth of Aram twenty and two thousand men;

Los sirios llegaron de Damasco en ayuda de Hadad Ezer, pero David también los derrotó y mató a veintidós mil de ellos.

6 a nd David putteth garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram is to David for a servant, bearing a present; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone;

Luego, puso guarniciones en Siria de Damasco y sometió a los sirios y les impuso tributo. Y por dondequiera que David iba, el Señor lo ayudaba.

7 a nd David taketh the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadadezer, and bringeth them to Jerusalem;

A los soldados de Hadad Ezer que capturó, David les quitó sus escudos de oro y los llevó a Jerusalén.

8 a nd from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, hath king David taken very much brass.

Además, el rey David les quitó gran cantidad de bronce a Betaj y a Berotay, que eran ciudades de Hadad Ezer.

9 A nd Toi king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten all the force of Hadadezer,

Cuando Toy, el rey de Jamat, se enteró de que David había derrotado al ejército de Hadad Ezer,

10 a nd Toi sendeth Joram his son unto king David to ask of him of welfare, and to bless him, (because that he hath fought against Hadadezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars Toi had Hadadezer been), and in his hand have been vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass,

envió a su hijo Jorán para que visitara al rey David y le llevara saludos de paz y felicitaciones por haber vencido a Hadad Ezer, que era su enemigo. Como obsequio, Jorán le entregó utensilios de plata, oro y bronce,

11 a lso them did king David sanctify to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold which he sanctified of all the nations which he subdued:

que David aceptó y juntó con el oro y la plata que les había quitado a las naciones que había sometido, y todo se lo dedicó al Señor.

12 o f Aram, and of Moab, and of the Bene-Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.

Todo eso era el botín arrebatado a los sirios, los moabitas, los amonitas, los filisteos y los amalecitas, y a Hadad Ezer hijo de Rejob, rey de Soba.

13 A nd David maketh a name in his turning back from his smiting Aram in the valley of Salt -- eighteen thousand;

Así fue como David ganó fama. Y cuando regresaba de derrotar a los sirios, luchó contra los edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y allí acabó con dieciocho mil soldados de ellos.

14 a nd he putteth in Edom garrisons -- in all Edom he hath put garrisons, and all Edom are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

Por todo Edom puso guarnición, y los edomitas se convirtieron en súbditos de David. En todas las batallas el Señor estaba con David, y siempre le daba la victoria. Oficiales de David

15 A nd David reigneth over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

David reinó sobre todo Israel, impartiendo justicia y equidad entre su pueblo.

16 a nd Joab son of Zeruiah over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud remembrancer,

Joab hijo de Seruyá era el general de su ejército, y Josafat hijo de Ajilud era su cronista.

17 a nd Zadok son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, priests, and Seraiah scribe,

Sadoc hijo de Ajitob, y Ajimélec hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; Seraías era su secretario personal;

18 a nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada both the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the sons of David have been ministers.

Benaías hijo de Joyadá estaba al mando de los cretenses y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran sacerdotes.
