1 A nd David saith, `Is there yet any left to the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?'

Un día David preguntó: «¿Queda todavía alguno de los descendientes de Saúl? En memoria de mi amigo Jonatán, quiero darle muestras de mi bondad.»

2 A nd the house of Saul hath a servant, and his name Ziba, and they call for him unto David; and the king saith unto him, `Art thou Ziba?' and he saith, `Thy servant.'

Entonces llamaron a Sibá, que había sido siervo de la familia de Saúl, para que se presentara ante el rey David, Cuando Sibá se presentó ante David, éste le preguntó: «¿Así que tú eres Sibá?» Y éste respondió: «Así es. Para servirte.»

3 A nd the king saith, `Is there not yet a man to the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of God?' And Ziba saith unto the king, `Jonathan hath yet a son -- lame.'

El rey preguntó: «¿Queda algún descendiente de Saúl, a quien yo pueda darle muestras de bondad en nombre del Señor?» Sibá le respondió que aún quedaba un hijo de Jonatán, pero que estaba lisiado de ambos pies.

4 A nd the king saith to him, `Where he?' and Ziba saith unto the king, `Lo, he in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lo-Debar.'

El rey le preguntó dónde estaba, y Sibá le respondió que estaba en Lodebar, en casa de Maquir hijo de Amiel.

5 A nd king David sendeth, and taketh him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Lo-Debar,

Entonces David ordenó que fueran por él, y lo llevaron de la casa de Maquir a su presencia.

6 a nd Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, cometh unto David, and falleth on his face, and doth obeisance, and David saith, `Mephibosheth;' and he saith, `Lo, thy servant.'

Cuando Mefiboset, hijo de Jonatán y nieto de Saúl, llegó ante el rey David, se inclinó con mucha reverencia. Entonces el rey le preguntó: «¿Así que tú eres Mefiboset? Y éste contestó: «Aquí me tienes, para servirte.»

7 A nd David saith to him, `Be not afraid; for I certainly do with thee kindness because of Jonathan thy father, and have given back to thee all the field of Saul thy father, and thou dost eat bread at my table continually.'

Y David le dijo: «No tengas miedo, que por el gran aprecio que le tenía a tu padre voy a tratarte con mucha bondad; voy también a devolverte las tierras que fueron de tu abuelo Saúl, y desde hoy te vas a sentar a mi mesa.»

8 A nd he boweth himself, and saith, `What thy servant, that thou hast turned unto the dead dog -- such as I?'

Mefiboset volvió a inclinarse ante el rey, y le dijo: «¿Pero quién soy yo? ¡Este siervo tuyo no es más que un perro muerto!»

9 A nd the king calleth unto Ziba servant of Saul, and saith unto him, `All that was to Saul and to all his house, I have given to the son of thy lord,

Entonces el rey llamó a Sibá, el siervo de Saúl, y le dijo: «Hoy le he devuelto al hijo de tu señor todas las posesiones de Saúl y de su familia.

10 a nd thou hast served for him the land, thou and thy sons, and thy servants, and hast brought in, and there hath been to the son of thy lord bread, and he hath eaten it; and Mephibosheth son of thy lord doth eat continually bread at my table;' and Ziba hath fifteen sons and twenty servants.

Tú, y tus hijos y tus sirvientes se encargarán de labrar sus tierras y de almacenar los frutos, para que no le falte comida a Mefiboset, el hijo de tu señor, aunque él tiene un lugar en mi mesa y comerá conmigo.» Sibá, que tenía quince hijos y veinte sirvientes,

11 A nd Ziba saith unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so doth thy servant;' as to Mephibosheth, `he is eating at my table () as one of the sons of the king.'

le respondió al rey: «Yo cumpliré fielmente todo lo que mi señor el rey me ha dicho.» Por su parte, el rey David reiteró que Mefiboset comería con él, como si fuera uno de sus hijos.

12 A nd Mephibosheth hath a young son, and his name Micha, and every one dwelling in the house of Ziba servants to Mephibosheth.

Mefiboset tenía un hijo pequeño que se llamaba Micaía, y toda la familia de Sibá estaba al servicio de Mefiboset.

13 A nd Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for at the table of the king he is eating continually, and he lame of his two feet.

Y como Mefiboset estaba lisiado de ambos pies, vivía en Jerusalén y siempre comía a la mesa del rey.
