1 T hen singeth Moses and the sons of Israel this song to Jehovah, and they speak, saying: -- `I sing to Jehovah, For triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea.

Entonces Moisés y los hijos de Israel elevaron este cántico al Señor. Dijeron: Cantaré al Señor, que se ha engrandecido: ¡Ha echado en el mar jinetes y caballos!

2 M y strength and song is Jah, And He is become my salvation: This my God, and I glorify Him; God of my father, and I exalt Him.

El Señor es mi fortaleza y mi cántico; ¡el Señor es mi salvación! Él es mi Dios, y lo alabaré; es el Dios de mi padre, y lo enalteceré.

3 J ehovah a man of battle; Jehovah His name.

El Señor es un valiente guerrero, y su nombre es el Señor.

4 C hariots of Pharaoh and his force He hath cast into the sea; And the choice of his captains Have sunk in the Red Sea!

El Señor arrojó al mar los carros y el ejército del faraón; ¡sus capitanes más aguerridos se hundieron en el fondo del Mar Rojo!

5 T he depths do cover them; They went down into the depths as a stone.

¡Como piedras cayeron al abismo, y el mar profundo los cubrió!

6 T hy right hand, O Jehovah, Is become honourable in power; Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Doth crush an enemy.

Señor, Señor, ¡el poder de tu diestra se ha magnificado! ¡El poder de tu diestra quebrantó al enemigo!

7 A nd in the abundance of Thine excellency Thou throwest down Thy withstanders, Thou sendest forth Thy wrath -- It consumeth them as stubble.

¡Tu gran poder derribó a tus adversarios! ¡Tu ira los consumió como a hojarasca!

8 A nd by the spirit of Thine anger Have waters been heaped together; Stood as a heap have flowings; Congealed have been depths In the heart of a sea.

Soplaste, y se amontonaron las aguas; las corrientes se juntaron en un montón; ¡los abismos se cuajaron en medio del mar!

9 T he enemy said, I pursue, I overtake; I apportion spoil; Filled is my soul with them; I draw out my sword; My hand destroyeth them: --

El enemigo decía: «Los perseguiré y los haré mis prisioneros; ¡repartiré sus despojos hasta quedar hastiado! ¡Sacaré la espada y yo mismo los destruiré!»

10 T hou hast blown with Thy wind The sea hath covered them; They sank as lead in mighty waters.

Pero soplaste, y el mar los cubrió; se hundieron como plomo en las aguas impetuosas.

11 W ho like Thee among the gods, O Jehovah? Who like Thee -- honourable in holiness -- Fearful in praises -- doing wonders?

¿Quién como tú, Señor, entre los dioses? ¿Quién como tú, santo y magnífico, que realizas maravillosas hazañas y llevas a cabo sorprendentes prodigios?

12 T hou hast stretched out Thy right hand -- Earth swalloweth them!

Extendiste tu diestra, y la tierra se los tragó;

13 T hou hast led forth in Thy kindness The people whom Thou hast redeemed. Thou hast led on in Thy strength Unto Thy holy habitation.

en tu misericordia guías a tu pueblo redimido y con tu poder lo llevas a tu santa morada.

14 P eoples have heard, they are troubled; Pain hath seized inhabitants of Philistia.

Los pueblos lo saben, y tiemblan de miedo; en su tierra, los filisteos se doblan de dolor.

15 T hen have chiefs of Edom been troubled: Mighty ones of Moab -- Trembling doth seize them! Melted have all inhabitants of Canaan!

Los caudillos de Edom quedan confundidos y los valientes de Moab tiemblan de pies a cabeza; ¡todos los cananeos se acobardan!

16 F all on them doth terror and dread; By the greatness of Thine arm They are still as a stone, Till Thy people pass over, O Jehovah; Till the people pass over Whom Thou hast purchased.

Señor, ¡que les sobrevenga espanto y temor! ¡Queden mudos como piedras ante tu brazo poderoso, hasta que haya pasado tu pueblo, el pueblo que tú mismo rescataste!

17 T hou dost bring them in, And dost plant them In a mountain of Thine inheritance, A fixed place for Thy dwelling Thou hast made, O Jehovah; A sanctuary, O Lord, Thy hands have established;

Tú, Señor, los llevarás al monte donde habitas, al lugar que has preparado, y allí los plantarás, en el santuario que tú mismo has afirmado.

18 J ehovah reigneth -- to the age, and for ever!'

¡Tú, Señor, reinas ahora y siempre!

19 F or the horse of Pharaoh hath gone in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah turneth back on them the waters of the sea, and the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea.

Ciertamente el faraón entró en el mar, cabalgando con sus carros de guerra y su gente de a caballo, pero el Señor hizo que las aguas del mar se volvieran contra ellos, y los hijos de Israel cruzaron el mar en seco.

20 A nd Miriam the inspired one, sister of Aaron, taketh the timbrel in her hand, and all the women go out after her, with timbrels and with choruses;

Entonces la profetisa María, que era hermana de Aarón, tomó un pandero, y todas las mujeres salieron danzando tras ella y tocando sus panderos.

21 a nd Miriam answereth to them: -- `Sing ye to Jehovah, For Triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea!'

Y María cantaba: Canten en honor del Señor, porque se ha engrandecido en gran manera: ¡ha echado en el mar al caballo y al jinete! El agua amarga de Mará

22 A nd Moses causeth Israel to journey from the Red Sea, and they go out unto the wilderness of Shur, and they go three days in the wilderness, and have not found water,

Moisés ordenó que Israel partiera del Mar Rojo y se dirigiera al desierto de Shur. Los israelitas anduvieron tres días por el desierto sin hallar agua,

23 a nd they come in to Marah, and have not been able to drink the waters of Marah, for they bitter; therefore hath called its name Marah.

y cuando llegaron a Mará no pudieron beber las aguas de ese lugar porque eran amargas. Por eso le pusieron por nombre Mará.

24 A nd the people murmur against Moses, saying, `What do we drink?'

Allí el pueblo murmuró contra Moisés, y dijo: «¿Qué vamos a beber?»

25 a nd he crieth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah sheweth him a tree, and he casteth unto the waters, and the waters become sweet. There He hath made for them a statute, and an ordinance, and there He hath tried them,

Entonces Moisés pidió ayuda al Señor, y el Señor le mostró un árbol. Moisés lo echó al agua, y el agua se volvió dulce. Allí el Señor les dio estatutos y ordenanzas, y los puso a prueba.

26 a nd He saith, `If thou dost really hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and dost that which is right in His eyes, and hast hearkened to His commands, and kept all His statutes: none of the sickness which I laid on the Egyptians do I lay on thee, for I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

Les dijo: «Si escuchas con atención la voz del Señor tu Dios, y haces lo que es recto delante de sus ojos, y prestas oído a sus mandamientos y cumples todos sus estatutos, jamás te enviaré ninguna de las enfermedades que les envié a los egipcios. Yo soy el Señor, tu sanador.»

27 A nd they come to Elim, and there twelve fountains of water, and seventy palm trees; and they encamp there by the waters.

Luego llegaron a Elim, donde había doce manantiales y setenta palmeras, y acamparon allí, junto a los manantiales.
