1 A nd Elisha spake unto the woman whose son he had revived, saying, `Rise and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn where thou dost sojourn, for Jehovah hath called for a famine, and also, it is coming unto the land seven years.'

Eliseo habló con la mujer a cuyo hijo él le había devuelto la vida, y le dijo: «Prepárate a partir con toda tu familia, y ve a vivir donde puedas. El Señor va a hacer que haya una gran hambruna en el país, la cual durará siete años.»

2 A nd the woman riseth, and doth according to the word of the man of God, and goeth, she and her household, and sojourneth in the land of the Philistines seven years.

La mujer se dispuso a acatar las instrucciones del varón de Dios, y junto con su familia se fue al país de los filisteos, y allá vivió siete años.

3 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turneth back from the land of the Philistines, and goeth out to cry unto the king, for her house, and for her field.

Pasados los siete años, la mujer volvió de ese país y fue a rogarle al rey que le restituyera su casa y sus tierras.

4 A nd the king is speaking unto Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, `Recount, I pray thee, to me, the whole of the great things that Elisha hath done.'

El rey estaba en ese momento hablando con Guejazí, el criado del varón de Dios, y le decía: «Por favor, háblame de todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.»

5 A nd it cometh to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and lo, the woman whose son he had revived is crying unto the king, for her house and for her field, and Gehazi saith, `My lord, O king, this the woman, and this her son, whom Elisha revived.'

Y mientras Guejazí le contaba al rey cómo Eliseo le había devuelto la vida a un muerto, la madre del hijo resucitado por Eliseo llegó a pedirle al rey la devolución de su casa y de sus tierras. Guejazí exclamó entonces: «Su Majestad, ¡ésta es la mujer, y éste es su hijo, al que Eliseo devolvió la vida!.»

6 A nd the king asketh at the woman, and she recounteth to him, and the king appointeth to her a certain eunuch, saying, `Give back all that she hath, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even till now.'

El rey interrogó a la mujer, y ella le contó todo. Entonces el rey llamó a un oficial y le ordenó: «Haz que a esta mujer se le devuelva todo lo que era suyo, y todo lo que sus tierras produjeron desde que dejó el país hasta ahora.» Jazael llega a ser rey de Siria

7 A nd Elisha cometh in to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, `The man of God hath come hither.'

Después de eso, Eliseo se fue a Damasco. El rey Ben Adad de Siria estaba enfermo, y cuando le avisaron que el varón de Dios estaba allí,

8 A nd the king saith unto Hazael, `Take in thy hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and thou hast sought Jehovah by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

el rey le dijo a Jazael: «Ve a recibir al varón de Dios, y llévale un presente. Consulta por medio de él al Señor, y pregúntale si yo sanaré de esta enfermedad.»

9 A nd Hazael goeth to meet him, and taketh a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he cometh in and standeth before him, and saith, `Thy son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, hath sent me unto thee, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

Jazael escogió un presente de entre los bienes de Damasco, y junto con cuarenta camellos cargados, fue al encuentro del varón de Dios. Cuando llegó ante él, le dijo: «El rey Ben Adad de Siria, que es como tu hijo, me ha enviado para que te pregunte si va a sanar de su enfermedad»

10 A nd Elisha saith unto him, `Go, say, Thou dost certainly not revive, seeing Jehovah hath shewed me that he doth surely die.'

Y Eliseo le dijo: «Ve y dile que ciertamente sanará. Sin embargo, el Señor me ha revelado que Ben Adad inevitablemente morirá.»

11 A nd he setteth his face, yea, he setteth till he is ashamed, and the man of God weepeth.

Y el varón de Dios se quedó mirándolo fijamente, hasta que Jazael se ruborizó. De pronto, el varón de Dios prorrumpió en llanto,

12 A nd Hazael saith, `Wherefore is my lord weeping?' and he saith, `Because I have known the evil that thou dost to the sons of Israel -- their fenced places thou dost send into fire, and their young men with sword thou dost slay, and their sucklings thou dost dash to pieces, and their pregnant women thou dost rip up.'

y Jazael le preguntó: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?» El varón de Dios respondió: «Lloro porque sé que harás mucho mal a los israelitas; sé que les prenderás fuego a sus fortalezas, que a sus jóvenes los matarás a filo de espada, que a sus niños los estrellarás contra el suelo, y que a sus mujeres embarazadas las abrirás en canal.»

13 A nd Hazael saith, `But what, thy servant the dog, that he doth this great thing?' And Elisha saith, `Jehovah hath shewed me thee -- king of Aram.'

Jazael objetó: «Pero, ¿quién es tu siervo, si no un perro? ¿Cómo podría hacer algo tan formidable?» Y Eliseo respondió: «El Señor me ha revelado que tú vas a ser rey de Siria.»

14 A nd he goeth from Elisha, and cometh in unto his lord, and he saith unto him, `What said Elisha to thee?' and he saith, `He said to me, Thou dost certainly recover.'

Cuando Jazael se fue y volvió con su amo, éste le preguntó: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?» Y Jazael respondió: «Me dijo que ciertamente sanarás.»

15 A nd it cometh to pass on the morrow, that he taketh the coarse cloth, and dippeth in water, and spreadeth on his face, and he dieth, and Hazael reigneth in his stead.

Pero al día siguiente Jazael tomó un paño, lo remojó en agua, y se lo puso a Ben Adad sobre el rostro, y Ben Adad murió. En su lugar, reinó Jazael. Reinado de Jorán de Judá

16 A nd in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel -- and Jehoshaphat king of Judah -- hath Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah reigned;

En el quinto año de Jorán hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, y mientras Josafat era rey de Judá, Jorán hijo de Josafat comenzó a reinar en Judá.

17 a son of thirty and two years was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem.

Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años.

18 A nd he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

Su conducta fue la de los reyes de Israel, pues actuó como la familia de Ajab; hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, y una hija de Ajab fue su mujer.

19 a nd Jehovah was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, as He said to him, to give to him a lamp -- to his sons all the days.

Pero por causa de David, su siervo, el Señor no quiso destruir a Judá, pues le había prometido a David que siempre mantendría viva su dinastía y la de sus hijos.

20 I n his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,

En los días de Jorán, Edom se rebeló contra el dominio de Judá, y nombró su propio rey.

21 a nd Joram passeth over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself hath risen by night, and smiteth Edom, that is coming round about unto him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people fleeth to its tents;

Entonces Jorán se enfiló hacia Saír con todos sus carros, pero los de Edom los atacaron y los rodearon. Entonces Jorán y los capitanes de sus carros se abrieron paso durante la noche, y logró que su ejército escapara a su campamento.

22 a nd Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah till this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time.

Sin embargo, Edom se liberó del dominio de Judá hasta el día de hoy, y también Libna se rebeló en el mismo tiempo.

23 A nd the rest of the matters of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Jorán, y todas sus obras, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá.

24 A nd Joram lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and reign doth Ahaziah his son in his stead.

Cuando Jorán se reunió con sus antepasados, fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David, y en su lugar reinó Ocozías, su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Judá

25 I n the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel reigned hath Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah;

Jorán hijo de Ajab tenía doce años de reinar sobre Israel cuando Ocozías hijo de Jorán comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

26 a son of twenty and two years Ahaziah in his reigning, and one year he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Athaliah daughter of Omri king of Israel,

Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén un año. Su madre se llamaba Atalía, y era hija del rey Omri de Israel.

27 a nd he walketh in the way of the house of Ahab, and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab, for he son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

Como era yerno de la casa de Ajab, siguió el mal ejemplo de la familia de Ajab, y al igual que la casa de Ajab hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor.

28 A nd he goeth with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Aramaeans smite Joram,

Ocozías se unió con Jorán hijo de Ajab, y juntos marcharon a Ramot de Galaad para pelear contra el rey Jazael de Siria, pero los sirios hirieron a Jorán,

29 a nd Joram the king turneth back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans smite him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.

por lo que el rey Jorán volvió a Jezrel para curarse las heridas que los sirios le hicieron frente a Ramot, cuando peleó contra el rey Jazael de Siria. Por eso Ocozías hijo de Jorán, rey de Judá, fue a visitar a Jorán hijo de Ajab en Jezrel, pues estaba enfermo.
