1 A nd having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,

Después de esto, Jesús subió a la barca, cruzó a la otra orilla y fue a su ciudad.

2 a nd lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, `Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.'

Allí le llevaron un paralítico, tendido sobre una camilla. Cuando Jesús vio la fe de ellos, le dijo al paralítico: «Ten ánimo, hijo; los pecados te son perdonados.»

3 A nd lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, `This one doth speak evil.'

Algunos de los escribas se decían a sí mismos: «Éste blasfema.»

4 A nd Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, `Why think ye evil in your hearts?

Pero Jesús, que conocía los pensamientos de ellos, dijo: «¿Por qué piensan mal dentro de ustedes mismos?

5 f or which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?

¿Qué es más fácil? ¿Que le diga “los pecados te son perdonados”, o que le diga “levántate y anda”?

6 ` But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins -- (then saith he to the paralytic) -- having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.'

Pues para que ustedes sepan que el Hijo del Hombre tiene autoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados, entonces éste le dice al paralítico: “Levántate, toma tu camilla, y vete a tu casa.”»

7 A nd he, having risen, went to his house,

Entonces el paralítico se levantó y se fue a su casa.

8 a nd the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.

Al ver esto, la gente se quedó asombrada y glorificó a Dios, que había dado tal poder a los hombres. Llamamiento de Mateo

9 A nd Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, `Be following me,' and he, having risen, did follow him.

Al continuar su camino, Jesús vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, que estaba sentado donde se cobraban los impuestos, y le dijo: «Sígueme.» Y Mateo se levantó y lo siguió.

10 A nd it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,

Estando Jesús en la casa, sentado a la mesa, muchos cobradores de impuestos y pecadores que habían venido se sentaron también a la mesa, con Jesús y sus discípulos.

11 a nd the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, `Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?'

Cuando los fariseos vieron esto, dijeron a los discípulos: «¿Por qué come su Maestro con cobradores de impuestos y con pecadores?»

12 A nd Jesus having heard, said to them, `They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;

Al oír esto, Jesús les dijo: «No son los sanos los que necesitan de un médico, sino los enfermos.

13 b ut having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

Vayan y aprendan lo que significa “Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio”. Porque no he venido a llamar a los justos al arrepentimiento, sino a los pecadores.» La pregunta sobre el ayuno

14 T hen come to him do the disciples of John, saying, `Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?'

Los discípulos de Juan se le acercaron entonces, y le preguntaron: «¿Por qué nosotros y los fariseos ayunamos muchas veces, y tus discípulos no?»

15 A nd Jesus said to them, `Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

Jesús les respondió: «¿Acaso los invitados a una boda pueden estar de luto mientras el esposo está con ellos? ¡Claro que no! Pero vendrán días, cuando el esposo les será quitado. Entonces ayunarán.»

16 ` And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.

Nadie remienda un vestido viejo con un paño de tela nueva, porque la tela nueva estira la tela vieja, y la rotura se hace peor.

17 ` Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not -- the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.'

Ni tampoco se echa vino nuevo en odres viejos, porque el vino nuevo revienta los odres, y entonces el vino se derrama y los odres se echan a perder. Más bien, el vino nuevo debe echarse en odres nuevos, y tanto lo uno como lo otro se conserva juntamente. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús

18 W hile he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that `My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.'

Mientras él les decía estas cosas, un magistrado vino y se arrodilló ante él, y le dijo: «Mi hija acaba de morir; pero ven y pon tu mano sobre ella, y ella volverá a la vida.»

19 A nd Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,

Jesús se levantó y lo siguió con sus discípulos.

20 a nd lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,

En eso, una mujer que desde hacía doce años padecía de hemorragias, se le acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto,

21 f or she said within herself, `If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.'

pues pensaba: «Si alcanzo a tocar tan sólo su manto, me sanaré.»

22 A nd Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, `Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,' and the woman was saved from that hour.

Pero Jesús se volvió a mirarla y le dijo: «Ten ánimo, hija; tu fe te ha salvado.» Y a partir de ese momento la mujer quedó sana.

23 A nd Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,

Cuando Jesús entró en la casa del magistrado, vio a los que tocaban flautas y a la gente que hacía alboroto,

24 h e saith to them, `Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,' and they were deriding him;

y les dijo: «Váyanse, porque la niña no está muerta, sino dormida.» Ellos se burlaron de él.

25 b ut, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,

Pero luego de despedir a la gente, él entró y tomó de la mano a la niña, y ella se levantó.

26 a nd the fame of this went forth to all the land.

Esta noticia se difundió por toda aquella región. Dos ciegos reciben la vista

27 A nd Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, `Deal kindly with us, Son of David.'

Cuando Jesús salió de allí, dos ciegos lo siguieron, y a gritos le decían: «¡Ten misericordia de nosotros, Hijo de David!»

28 A nd he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, `Believe ye that I am able to do this?' They say to him, `Yes, sir.'

Cuando Jesús llegó a la casa, los ciegos se le acercaron y él les preguntó: «¿Creen que puedo hacer esto?» Ellos dijeron: «Sí, Señor.»

29 T hen touched he their eyes, saying, `According to your faith let it be to you,'

Entonces les tocó los ojos, y les dijo: «Que se haga con ustedes conforme a su fe.»

30 a nd their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, `See, let no one know;'

Y los ojos de ellos fueron abiertos. Pero Jesús les encargó con mucha firmeza: «Asegúrense de que nadie sepa esto.»

31 b ut they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.

Sin embargo, en cuanto ellos salieron, divulgaron la fama de él por toda aquella región. Un mudo habla

32 A nd as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,

En el momento en que salían, le trajeron a Jesús un mudo que estaba endemoniado.

33 a nd the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that `It was never so seen in Israel:'

En cuanto el demonio fue expulsado, el mudo comenzó a hablar. Y la gente se asombraba y decía: «¡Nunca se ha visto nada igual en Israel!»

34 b ut the Pharisees said, `By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.'

Pero los fariseos decían: «Éste expulsa a los demonios por el poder del príncipe de los demonios.» La mies es mucha

35 A nd Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.

Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y las aldeas, y enseñaba en las sinagogas de ellos, predicaba el evangelio del reino y sanaba toda enfermedad y toda dolencia del pueblo.

36 A nd having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,

Al ver las multitudes, Jesús tuvo compasión de ellas porque estaban desamparadas y dispersas, como ovejas que no tienen pastor.

37 t hen saith he to his disciples, `The harvest indeed abundant, but the workmen few;

Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: «Ciertamente, es mucha la mies, pero son pocos los segadores.

38 b eseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.'

Por tanto, pidan al Señor de la mies que envíe segadores a cosechar la mies.»
