1 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 ` Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, and thou hast said:

«Hijo de hombre, hazle saber a Jerusalén que sus hechos son repugnantes.

3 T hus said the Lord Jehovah to Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity of the land of the Canaanite, Thy father the Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

Dile que así ha dicho el Señor su Dios: “Tú, Jerusalén, eres desde tu origen cananea de nacimiento. Tu padre era un amorreo, y tu madre una hitita.

4 A s to thy nativity, in the day thou wast born, Thou -- thy navel hath not been cut, And in water thou wast not washed for ease, And thou hast not been salted at all, And thou hast not been swaddled at all.

El día en que naciste no te cortaron el ombligo, ni te bañaron ni te limpiaron con agua, ni te frotaron con sal, ni te envolvieron ni te fajaron.

5 N o eye hath had pity on thee, to do to thee any of these, To have compassion on thee, And thou art cast on the face of the field, With loathing of thy person. In the day thou hast been born -- thou!

Ninguno de los que te vieron nacer se compadeció de ti ni hizo nada por ti. Al contrario, tan pronto como naciste te arrojaron a la intemperie, sin que les importara si sobrevivirías.

6 A nd I do pass over by thee, And I see thee trodden down in thy blood, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live.

”Yo pasé junto a ti y, al verte tan sucia y llena de sangre, te dije: ‘¡Estás viva!’ Sí, todavía estabas llena de sangre cuando volví a decirte: ‘¡Estás viva!’

7 A myriad -- as the shoot of the field I have made thee, And thou art multiplied, and art great, And comest in with an excellent adornment, Breasts have been formed, and thy hair hath grown -- And thou, naked and bare!

Entonces hice que te reprodujeras como la hierba del campo. Y tú creciste y te hiciste grande, y llegaste a ser muy hermosa; tus pechos se desarrollaron, y te creció el vello; pero tú seguías desnuda por completo.

8 A nd I pass over by thee, and I see thee, And lo, thy time a time of loves, And I spread My skirt over thee, And I cover thy nakedness, And I swear to thee, and come in to a covenant with thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And thou dost become Mine.

”Yo volví a pasar junto a ti, y te miré, y ya estabas en la edad de enamorarte. Entonces extendí mi manto sobre ti, y cubrí tu desnudez, y te hice un juramento y establecí un pacto contigo, y fuiste mía. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

9 A nd I do wash thee with water, And I wash away thy blood from off thee, And I anoint thee with perfume.

”Te lavé con agua, te limpié la sangre que te cubría, y te unté bálsamo.

10 A nd I clothe thee with embroidery, And I shoe thee with badger's skin, And I gird thee with fine linen, And I cover thee with figured silk.

También te cubrí con un bordado, te puse las sandalias más finas, y te vestí con telas de lino y de seda.

11 A nd I adorn thee with adornments, And I give bracelets for thy hands, And a chain for thy neck.

Luego te adorné con alhajas, y te puse brazaletes en los brazos y collares en el cuello.

12 A nd I give a ring for thy nose, And rings for thine ears, And a crown of beauty on thy head.

Te puse joyas en la nariz, y aretes en las orejas, y en la cabeza te puse una bella diadema.

13 A nd thou dost put on gold and silver, And thy clothing fine linen, And figured silk and embroidery, Fine flour, and honey, and oil thou hast eaten, And thou art very very beautiful, And dost go prosperously to the kingdom.

Quedaste adornada de oro y de plata, y tu vestido era de finos bordados de lino y de seda; te alimentaste con flor de harina, miel y aceite; fuiste extremadamente embellecida, y hasta llegaste a ser reina.

14 A nd go forth doth thy name among nations, Because of thy beauty -- for it complete, In My honour that I have set upon thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

La fama de tu belleza se extendió por todas las naciones. Eras una belleza perfecta, porque yo te embellecí. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

15 A nd thou dost trust in thy beauty, And goest a-whoring because of thy renown, And dost pour out thy whoredoms On every passer by -- to him it is.

”Pero confiaste en tu hermosura, y tu fama te llevó a prostituirte. Te entregaste a todo el que pasaba, y le brindaste tus favores.

16 A nd thou dost take of thy garments, And dost make to thee spotted high-places, And dost go a-whoring upon them, They are not coming in -- nor shall it be!

Con tus propios vestidos hiciste altares paganos, y allí te prostituiste. ¡Nunca antes había sucedido algo así, ni jamás sucederá!

17 A nd thou dost take thy beauteous vessels Of My gold and My silver that I gave to thee, And dost make to thee images of a male, And dost go a-whoring with them,

Tomaste las alhajas de oro y plata que yo te había regalado, y con ellas te hiciste figuras masculinas para serme infiel.

18 A nd dost take the garments of thy embroidery, And thou dost cover them, And My oil and My perfume thou hast set before them.

Además, las arropaste con tus finos vestidos de brocado, y les ofreciste el aceite y el incienso que eran para mí.

19 A nd My bread, that I gave to thee, Fine flour, and oil, and honey, that I caused thee to eat. Thou hast even set it before them, For a sweet fragrance -- thus it is, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

También les presentaste, como ofrenda de grato aroma, el pan y la flor de harina, y el aceite y la miel, que yo te di como alimento. Eso es un hecho. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

20 A nd thou dost take thy sons and thy daughters Whom thou hast born to Me, And dost sacrifice them to them for food. Is it a little thing because of thy whoredoms,

”¿Se te hace poco haberte prostituido tanto, que tomaste a los hijos y a las hijas que tuviste conmigo para ofrecerlos a esos ídolos como alimento?

21 T hat thou dost slaughter My sons, And dost give them up in causing them to pass over to them?

¡Sacrificaste a mis hijos! ¡Los entregaste a esos ídolos para que el fuego los consumiera!

22 A nd with all thine abominations and thy whoredoms, Thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, When thou wast naked and bare, Trodden down in thy blood thou wast!

Todos tus hechos repugnantes, y todas tus infidelidades te han hecho olvidar los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas del todo desnuda, ¡cuando estabas toda llena de sangre!

23 A nd it cometh to pass, after all thy wickedness, (Wo, wo, to thee -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah),

¡Ay de ti, ay de ti! Palabra de Dios el Señor. ”Y resulta que, después de toda tu maldad,

24 T hat thou dost build to thee an arch, And dost make to thee a high place in every broad place.

edificaste lugares altos y levantaste altares en todas las plazas.

25 A t every head of the way thou hast built thy high place, And thou dost make thy beauty abominable, And dost open wide thy feet to every passer by, And dost multiply thy whoredoms,

A la entrada de todo camino edificaste lugares altos, y rebajaste tu hermosura al ofrecerte a todo el que pasaba por allí, con lo que aumentaste tus infidelidades.

26 A nd dost go a-whoring unto sons of Egypt, Thy neighbours -- great of appetite! And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms, To provoke Me to anger.

Tuviste amoríos con los egipcios, tus vecinos de gran potencia viril, y para hacerme enojar te prostituiste más y más.

27 A nd lo, I have stretched out My hand against thee, And I diminish thy portion, And give thee to the desire of those hating thee, The daughters of the Philistines, Who are ashamed of thy wicked way.

Por eso yo descargué mi mano sobre ti y te reduje tu provisión ordinaria, y te entregué a la voluntad de las hijas de los filisteos, que te aborrecían y se avergonzaban de tu malvado proceder.

28 A nd thou goest a-whoring unto sons of Asshur, Without thy being satisfied, And thou dost go a-whoring with them, And also -- thou hast not been satisfied.

Tan insaciable eres que también tuviste amoríos con los asirios, pero tampoco con ellos quedaste satisfecha.

29 A nd thou dost multiply thy whoredoms On the land of Canaan -- toward Chaldea, And even with this thou hast not been satisfied.

Tanto en Canaán como en Babilonia aumentaste tus prostituciones, ¡y tampoco quedaste satisfecha!

30 H ow weak thy heart, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, In thy doing all these, The work of a domineering whorish woman.

Tienes un corazón inestable. ¡Todos tus actos sólo son propios de una ramera desvergonzada! Palabra de Dios el Señor.

31 I n thy building thine arch at the head of every way, Thy high place thou hast made in every broad place, And -- hast not been as a whore deriding a gift.

”A la entrada de todo camino edificaste tus lugares altos, y en todas las plazas pusiste tus altares. Sólo en algo no te portaste como ramera: ¡en que no te importaba la paga!

32 T he wife who committeth adultery -- Under her husband -- doth receive strangers.

Mujer infiel, relegaste a tu esposo por atrapar a otros hombres.

33 T o all whores they give a gift, And -- thou hast given thy gifts to all thy lovers, And dost bribe them to come in unto thee, From round about -- in thy whoredoms.

Toda ramera recibe una paga, ¡pero tú les pagabas a tus amantes! Les dabas presentes para que de todas partes vinieran a prostituirse contigo.

34 A nd the contrary is in thee from women in thy whoredoms, That after thee none doth go a-whoring; And in thy giving a gift, And a gift hath not been given to thee; And thou art become contrary.

Contigo sucedió lo contrario de lo que hacen otras mujeres: como nadie te pedía acostarse contigo, eras tú quien se ofrecía, y quien pagaba, en vez de que le pagaran. ¡En eso fuiste diferente!

35 T herefore, O whore, hear a word of Jehovah,

”Por lo tanto, ramera, oye lo que voy a decirte.

36 T hus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of thy brass being poured forth, And thy nakedness is revealed in thy whoredoms near thy lovers, And near all the idols of thy abominations, And according to the blood of thy sons, Whom thou hast given to them;

Yo, tu Señor y Dios, te digo: Puesto que tú has dejado al descubierto tu desnudez con tus prostituciones, y te has exhibido ante tus amantes y ante tus repugnantes ídolos, a los que has ofrendado la sangre de tus hijos,

37 T herefore, lo, I am assembling all thy lovers, To whom thou hast been sweet, And all whom thou hast loved, Besides all whom thou hast hated; And I have assembled them by thee round about, And have revealed thy nakedness to them, And they have seen all thy nakedness.

yo voy a convocar a todos tus amantes, con los que te regocijaste y tuviste placer, y también a todos los que aborreciste, y los reuniré alrededor de ti para exhibir tu desnudez. ¡Que te vean tal y como eres!

38 A nd I have judged thee -- judgments of adultresses, And of women shedding blood, And have given thee blood, fury, and jealousy.

Voy a aplicarte la ley que castiga a las adúlteras y a las asesinas. Voy a volcar sobre ti mi ira y mis celos.

39 A nd I have given thee into their hand, And they have thrown down thine arch, And they have broken down thy high places, And they have stript thee of thy garments, And they have taken thy beauteous vessels, And they have left thee naked and bare.

Voy a entregarte en manos de tus amantes, para que destruyan tus lugares altos y derriben tus altares, para que te despojen de tus vestidos y de tus alhajas, y te dejen completamente desnuda.

40 A nd have caused an assembly to come up against thee, And stoned thee with stones, And thrust thee through with their swords,

Ellos te atacarán con una gran muchedumbre, y te apedrearán y despedazarán con sus espadas.

41 A nd burnt thy houses with fire, And done in thee judgments before the eyes of many women, And I have caused thee to cease from going a-whoring, And also a gift thou givest no more.

Prenderán fuego a tus casas, y en presencia de muchas mujeres dictarán sentencia contra ti, para que dejes de prostituirte y no vuelvas a prodigar tus favores.

42 A nd I have caused My fury against thee to rest, And My jealousy hath turned aside from thee, And I have been quiet, and I am not angry any more.

Así apaciguaré mi enojo y mis celos por ti, y una vez calmado no volveré a enojarme.

43 B ecause thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, And dost give trouble to Me in all these, Lo, even I also thy way at first gave up, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I did not this thought for all thine abominations.

La verdad es que tú provocaste mi enojo con todo lo que hiciste; no te acordaste de cuando eras joven, ni pensaste siquiera en tu infame lujuria. Por eso voy a descargar sobre ti las consecuencias de tu conducta.” Palabra de Dios el Señor.

44 L o, every one using a simile, Doth use a simile concerning thee, saying: As the mother -- her daughter!

»Todos los que hablan con refranes van a aplicarte aquél que dice: “De tal madre, tal hija.”

45 T hy mother's daughter thou, Loathing her husband and her sons, And thy sisters' sister thou, Who loathed their husbands and their sons, Your mother a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Y es que tú eres hija de la madre que desechó a su marido y a sus hijos; también eres hermana de las hermanas que desecharon a sus maridos y a sus hijos. La madre de ustedes fue una hitita, y el padre de ustedes fue un amorreo.

46 A nd thine elder sister Samaria, she and her daughters, Who is dwelling at thy left hand, And thy younger sister, who is dwelling on thy right hand, Sodom and her daughters.

Tu hermana mayor es Samaria, y ella y sus hijas habitaron al norte de tu territorio. Tu hermana menor es Sodoma, y ella y sus hijas habitaron al sur de tu territorio.

47 A nd -- in their ways thou hast not walked, And according to their abominations done, As a little thing it hath been loathed, And thou dost more corruptly than they in all thy ways.

Pero tú no sólo imitaste su conducta y cometiste los mismos actos repugnantes, sino que eso te pareció poco y tus hechos fueron peores que los de ellas.

48 I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done -- she and her daughters -- As thou hast done -- thou and thy daughters.

Puedo jurar por mí mismo, que ni tu hermana Sodoma ni sus hijas hicieron lo que hicieron tú y tus hijas. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

49 L o, this hath been the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, Arrogancy, fulness of bread, and quiet ease, Have been to her and to her daughters, And the hand of the afflicted and needy She hath not strengthened.

»Tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas pecaron de soberbias. Era tanto el pan que tenían, y tanto el tiempo que les sobraba, que no se ocuparon de dar fuerzas a los pobres y menesterosos.

50 A nd they are haughty and do abomination before Me, And I turn them aside when I have seen.

Se llenaron de soberbia y, ante mis ojos, cometieron actos repugnantes; por eso decidí destruirlas.

51 A s to Samaria, as the half of thy sins -- she hath not sinned, And thou dost multiply thine abominations more than they, And dost justify thy sisters by all thy abominations that thou hast done.

Sin embargo, ni Samaria ni sus hijas cometieron la mitad de tus pecados. Comparadas contigo, ellas resultan más justas, pues tus hechos repugnantes fueron más que los que ellas cometieron.

52 T hou also -- bear thy shame, That thou hast adjudged to thy sisters, Because of thy sins that thou hast done more abominably than they, They are more righteous than thou, And thou, also, be ashamed and bear thy shame, In thy justifying thy sisters.

Y ya que juzgaste a tus hermanas, carga ahora con la vergüenza de los pecados que cometiste, y que son más abominables que los que ellas cometieron. Carga con esa vergüenza y confusión, pues ellas han resultado ser más justas que tú. ¡Tú las has justificado!

53 A nd I have turned back their captivity, The captivity of Sodom and her daughters, And the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, And the captivity of thy captives in their midst,

»Yo voy a hacer que vuelvan los cautivos de Sodoma y de sus hijas, y los cautivos de Samaria y de sus hijas, y también haré que vuelvan tus cautivos,

54 S o that thou dost bear thy shame, And hast been ashamed of all that thou hast done, In thy comforting them.

para que cargues con esa confusión y esa vergüenza, por todo lo que has hecho. Eso les servirá de consuelo.

55 A nd thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, Do turn back to their former state, And Samaria and her daughters Do turn back to their former state, And thou and thy daughters do turn back to your former state.

Tus hermanas Sodoma y Samaria volverán a ser lo que antes fueron, lo mismo que sus hijas, y también tú y tus hijas volverán a ser lo que antes fueron.

56 A nd thy sister Sodom hath not been for a report in thy mouth, In the day of thine arrogancy,

En tus tiempos de grandeza, no considerabas a tu hermana Sodoma digna de que la mencionaras.

57 B efore thy wickedness is revealed, As the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram, And of all her neighbours, the daughters of the Philistines, Who are despising thee round about.

Pero eso fue antes de que tu maldad quedara al descubierto. Así que ahora te toca soportar las ofensas de las hijas de Siria y de todas las hijas de los filisteos, que por todos lados te desprecian.

58 T hy devices and thine abominations, Thou hast borne them, an affirmation of Jehovah.

¡Te toca cargar con el castigo de tu lujuria y de tus hechos repugnantes!» —Palabra del Señor.

59 F or thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have dealt with thee as thou hast done, In that thou hast despised an oath -- to break covenant.

Pero Dios el Señor ha dicho algo más: «¿Acaso yo voy a hacer contigo lo mismo que tú hiciste, de menospreciar el juramento para invalidar el pacto?

60 A nd I -- I have remembered My covenant with thee, In the days of thy youth, And I have established for thee a covenant age-during.

No, porque yo sí me acuerdo del pacto que hice contigo cuando aún eras joven, así que estableceré contigo un pacto sempiterno.

61 A nd thou hast remembered thy ways, And thou hast been ashamed, In thy receiving thy sisters -- Thine elder with thy younger, And I have given them to thee for daughters, And not by thy covenant.

Tú te acordarás de tu mala conducta, y sentirás vergüenza, cuando recibas a tus hermanas mayores y menores, a las que te daré por hijas, aunque no participarán de mi pacto contigo.

62 A nd I -- I have established My covenant with thee, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.

Mi pacto lo confirmaré contigo. Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor.

63 S o that thou dost remember, And thou hast been ashamed, And there is not to thee any more an opening of the mouth because of thy shame, In My receiving atonement for thee, For all that thou hast done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'

Cuando yo te perdone por todo lo que hiciste, tú te acordarás y te avergonzarás, y tal será tu vergüenza que nunca más volverás a abrir la boca.» Palabra de Dios el Señor.
