1 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

2 ` Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

«Hijo de hombre, dirige la mirada hacia el monte de Seir, y profetiza contra él.

3 a nd thou hast said to it: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I against thee, O mount Seir, And have stretched out My hand against thee, And made thee a desolation and an astonishment.

Dile que así ha dicho Dios el Señor: “Yo estoy contra ti, monte de Seir. Voy a extender mi mano contra ti, y te convertiré en desierto y soledad.

4 T hy cities a waste I make, and thou art a desolation, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.

Asolaré tus ciudades, y quedarás desolado. Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor.

5 B ecause of thy having an enmity age-during, And thou dost saw the sons of Israel, By the hands of the sword, In the time of their calamity, In the time of the iniquity of the end:

”Tú has sido siempre el enemigo de los hijos de Israel; en los peores momentos, cuando ellos estaban más afligidos, tú los entregaste al poder de la espada.

6 T herefore, I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Surely for blood I do appoint thee, And blood doth pursue thee, If blood thou hast not hated, Blood also doth pursue thee.

Por eso, juro que la sangre será tu destino. Puesto que no aborreces la sangre, siempre la sangre te perseguirá. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

7 A nd I have given mount Seir for a desolation and an astonishment, And have cut off from it him who is passing over and him who is returning,

”Monte de Seir, yo voy a convertirte en desierto y soledad. Voy a destruir a todo el que pase junto a ti.

8 A nd filled his mountains with his wounded, Thy hills, and thy valleys, and all thy streams, The pierced of the sword fall into them.

Voy a llenar tus montes con tus muertos. Los que mueran a filo de espada llenarán tus colinas, tus valles y todos tus arroyos.

9 D esolations age-during I make thee, And thy cities do not return, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

Voy a dejarte en ruinas para siempre. Jamás tus ciudades volverán a ser reconstruidas. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.

10 B ecause of thy saying: The two nations and the two lands are mine, and we have possessed it, And Jehovah hath been there;

”Y es que dijiste que tú tomarías posesión de las dos naciones, y que ambos países eran tuyos, aun cuando yo, el Señor, estaba allí.

11 T herefore, I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I have done according to thine anger, And according to thine envy, With which thou hast wrought, Because of thy hatred against them, And I have been known among them when I judge thee.

Por eso, juro que voy a actuar con el mismo enojo y furor con que tú trataste a mi pueblo, por tu enemistad con ellos. Y cuando yo te juzgue, ellos me reconocerán. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

12 A nd thou hast known that I -- Jehovah, I have heard all thy despisings that thou hast spoken Against mountains of Israel, saying: A desolation, to us they were given for food.

”Entonces sabrás que a mis oídos llegaron todas las injurias que proferiste contra los montes de Israel. Porque tú dijiste que ya habían sido destruidos, y que se te habían entregado para que te los devoraras.

13 A nd ye magnify yourselves against Me with your mouth, And have made abundant against Me your words, I -- I have heard.

Cuando me ofendiste, no te alcanzaba la boca ni te faltaban las palabras. Yo te oí muy bien.”

14 T hus said the Lord Jehovah: According to the rejoicing of the whole land, A desolation I make of thee.

»Por eso, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: “Para regocijo de toda la tierra, voy a dejarte en ruinas.

15 A ccording to thy joy at the inheritance of the house of Israel because of desolation, So I do to thee -- a desolation thou art, O mount Seir, and all Edom -- all of it, And they have known that I Jehovah!

Así como te alegraste cuando el territorio de Israel quedó devastado, así me alegraré también de ti, monte de Seir. Tú y todo Edom van a quedar asolados. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.”
