1 T hey asked of Jehovah rain in a time of latter rain, Jehovah is making lightnings, And rain showers He doth give to them. To each -- the herb in the field.

Pidan ustedes al Señor que llueva en la estación tardía, y el Señor enviará relámpagos y a cada uno le dará lluvia abundante y hierba verde en el campo.

2 B ecause the teraphim did speak iniquity, And the diviners have seen a falsehood, And dreams of the vanity they speak, vanity they give comfort, Therefore they have journeyed as a flock, They are afflicted, for there is no shepherd.

Los terafines han comunicado mensajes sin sentido, los adivinos tienen visiones falsas, hablan de sueños ilusorios, y el consuelo que dan no sirve para nada. Por eso el pueblo sufre y vaga sin rumbo, como ovejas sin pastor.

3 A gainst the shepherds did Mine anger burn, And against the he-goats I lay a charge, For inspected hath Jehovah of Hosts His flock, the house of Judah, And set them as His beauteous horse in battle.

«Mi enojo se ha encendido contra los pastores. Yo castigaré a los jefes.» Sí, el Señor de los ejércitos vendrá al encuentro de su rebaño, que es la casa de Judá, y les dará el privilegiado lugar de un corcel de batalla.

4 F rom him a corner-stone, From him a nail, from him a battle-bow, From him goeth forth every exactor together.

De la casa de Judá saldrá la piedra angular, la clavija, el arco de guerra, y también todo opresor.

5 A nd they have been as heroes, Treading in mire of out-places in battle, And they have fought, for Jehovah with them, And have put to shame riders of horses.

Serán como los guerreros que, en la batalla, pisotean al enemigo en el lodo de las calles. Combatirán, porque el Señor estará con ellos, y los soldados de caballería quedarán avergonzados.

6 A nd I have made mighty the house of Judah, And the house of Joseph I do save, And I have caused them to dwell, for I have loved them, And they have been as I had not cast them off, For I Jehovah their God, And I answer them.

«Yo fortaleceré la casa de Judá, y protegeré la casa de José. Yo los haré volver, porque me he compadecido de ellos. Todo será como si jamás los hubiera rechazado, porque yo soy el Señor su Dios, y les responderé.»

7 A nd Ephraim hath been as a hero, And rejoiced hath their heart as wine, And their sons see, and they have rejoiced, Rejoice doth their heart in Jehovah.

Efraín será semejante a un guerrero, y su corazón se regocijará como si bebiera vino. También sus hijos lo verán, y se alegrarán; su corazón se gozará en el Señor.

8 I hist for them, and I gather them, For I have redeemed them, And they have multiplied as they did multiply.

«Yo les daré la señal de que vuelvan, y volveré a reunirlos. Cuando los haya redimido; volverán a multiplicarse como antes.

9 A nd I sow them among peoples, And in far-off places they remember Me, And they have lived with their sons, And they have turned back.

Aunque los esparcí entre los pueblos, aun en los países más lejanos se acordarán de mí; y volverán con los hijos con quienes vivieron.

10 A nd I have brought them back from the land of Egypt, And from Asshur I do gather them, And unto the land of Gilead and Lebanon I do bring them in, And there is not found for them.

Yo los haré volver de Egipto, y los recogeré de Asiria, y los traeré a las tierras de Galaad y del Líbano, y todas esas tierras no les serán suficientes.

11 A nd He hath passed over through the sea, And hath pressed and smitten billows in the sea, And dried up have been all depths of a flood, And brought down hath been the excellency of Asshur, And the rod of Egypt doth turn aside.

»Cuando pasen por el mar turbulento, yo golpearé las olas del mar y secaré las profundidades del río. Haré que ruede por el suelo la soberbia de Asiria, y que llegue a su fin el reinado de Egipto.

12 A nd I have made them mighty in Jehovah, And in His name they walk up and down, An affirmation of Jehovah!

Yo mismo infundiré fuerzas a mi pueblo, y en mi nombre se pondrán en marcha.» —Palabra del Señor.
