1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh year, in the fifth, in the tenth of the month, come in have certain of the elders of Israel to seek Jehovah, and they sit before me;

En el día diez del mes quinto del año séptimo, algunos de los ancianos de Israel acudieron a consultar al Señor, y se sentaron delante de mí.

2 a nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Entonces la palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

3 ` Son of man, speak with the elders of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To seek Me are ye coming in? I live -- I am not sought by you -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

«Hijo de hombre, habla con los ancianos de Israel, y diles que yo, su Señor y Dios, he dicho: “¿Así que vienen ustedes a consultarme? Pues yo, su Señor y Dios, les juro que no les responderé.”

4 D ost thou judge them? Dost thou judge, son of man? The abominations of their fathers cause them to know,

Si tú, hijo de hombre, quieres juzgarlos, puedes hacerlo. Pero háblales de los actos repugnantes que sus padres cometieron,

5 a nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of My fixing on Israel, I lift up My hand, To the seed of the house of Jacob, And am known to them in the land of Egypt, And I lift up My hand to them, Saying, I Jehovah your God.

y diles de mi parte: “Hubo un día en que yo, su Señor y Dios, escogí a Israel y levanté mi mano para hacerle un juramento a los descendientes de Jacob. Fue en Egipto donde levanté mi mano y me di a conocer a ellos. Bajo juramento les dije: ‘Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

6 I n that day I did lift up My hand to them, To bring them forth from the land of Egypt, Unto a land that I spied out for them, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

Ese día levanté mi mano y les juré que los sacaría de Egipto y los llevaría a la tierra que les había provisto, a la tierra más hermosa de todas las tierras, ¡tierra que fluye leche y miel!

7 A nd I say unto them, Let each cast away the detestable things of his eyes, And with the idols of Egypt be not defiled, I Jehovah your God.

Ese día les dije: ‘Cada uno de ustedes debe alejarse de sus hechos repugnantes y no contaminarse con los ídolos de Egipto. Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

8 A nd -- they rebel against Me, And have not been willing to hearken to Me, Each, the detestable things of their eyes, They have not cast away, And the idols of Egypt have not forsaken, And I say -- to pour out My fury on them, To complete Mine anger against them, In the midst of the land of Egypt.

”Pero ellos se rebelaron contra mí, y no quisieron obedecerme. No se alejaron de sus hechos repugnantes ni se apartaron de los ídolos de Egipto. Entonces les dije que allí, en Egipto, desahogaría mi enojo sobre ellos, para calmarme.

9 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, In whose midst they, Before whose eyes I became known to them, To bring them out from the land of Egypt.

Sin embargo, actué en su favor y los saqué de Egipto, para que ante los ojos de las naciones entre las que se encontraban, y las cuales me conocían, mi nombre no quedara en entredicho.

10 A nd I bring them out of the land of Egypt, And I bring them in unto the wilderness,

Yo los saqué de Egipto. Yo los llevé al desierto

11 A nd I give to them My statutes, And my judgments I caused them to know, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them.

y les di a conocer mis estatutos y decretos, los cuales dan vida a todo el que los cumple.

12 A nd also My sabbaths I have given to them, To be for a sign between Me and them, To know that I Jehovah their sanctifier.

Les di también mis días de reposo, los cuales he consagrado para mí, para que sirvieran de señal entre nosotros y así reconocieran que yo soy el Señor.

13 A nd -- rebel against me do the house of Israel in the wilderness, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have despised, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. And My sabbaths they have greatly polluted, And I say to pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

”Pero en el desierto el pueblo de Israel se rebeló contra mí. No siguieron mis estatutos, que dan vida a todo el que los cumple, sino que desecharon mis decretos y abiertamente profanaron mis días de reposo. Por eso allí, en el desierto, les dije que descargaría sobre ellos mi ira y los exterminaría.

14 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them forth.

Pero actué así para que mi nombre no fuera profanado entre las naciones que presenciaron cómo los saqué de Egipto.

15 A nd also, I, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, Not to bring them in to the land that I had given, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

”También allí en el desierto levanté mi mano para jurar que no los llevaría a la tierra que les había entregado, tierra que fluye leche y miel, y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras.

16 B ecause against My judgments they did kick, And in My statutes they have not walked, And My sabbaths they have polluted, For after their idols their heart is going.

Y esto, porque despreciaron mis decretos y no siguieron mis estatutos, y porque profanaron mis días de reposo al seguir a sus ídolos con todo el corazón.

17 A nd Mine eye hath pity on them -- against destroying them, And I have not made of them an end in the wilderness.

”Aun así, los perdoné. No les quité la vida ni los exterminé en el desierto,

18 A nd I say to their sons in the wilderness: In the statutes of your fathers ye walk not, And their judgments ye do not observe, And with their idols ye are not defiled.

sino que allí en el desierto les dije a sus hijos que no siguieran las órdenes y enseñanzas de sus padres, y que no se contaminaran con sus ídolos. Les dije:

19 I Jehovah your God, in My statutes walk, And My judgments observe, and do them,

‘Yo soy el Señor su Dios. Sigan mis estatutos y cumplan mis preceptos. Pónganlos en práctica

20 A nd My sabbaths sanctify, And they have been for a sign between Me and you, To know that I, Jehovah, your God.

y santifiquen mis días de reposo. Hagan de ellos una señal entre nosotros, y reconozcan que yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

21 A nd -- the sons rebel against Me, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have not observed -- to do them, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. My sabbaths they have polluted, And I say to pour out My fury upon them, To complete Mine anger against them in the wilderness.

”Pero sus hijos se rebelaron contra mí. No siguieron mis estatutos ni cumplieron con mis decretos, los cuales dan vida a todo el que los cumple. En vez de ponerlos en práctica, profanaron mis días de reposo. Por eso allí en el desierto dije que descargaría sobre ellos mi enojo, para calmarme.

22 A nd I have turned back My hand, And I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them out.

Si retraje mi mano, fue para que mi nombre no fuera profanado ante las naciones que presenciaron cuando yo los saqué de Egipto.

23 I also, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, To scatter them among nations, And to spread them through lands.

”También en el desierto levanté mi mano contra ellos y juré que los esparciría por todos los países y naciones,

24 B ecause My judgments they have not done, And My statutes they have despised, And My sabbaths they have polluted, And after idols of their fathers have their eyes been.

porque en vez de poner en práctica mis decretos rechazaron mis estatutos y profanaron mis días de reposo, y no vieron otra cosa que los ídolos de sus padres.

25 A nd I also, I have given to them statutes not good, And judgments by which they do not live.

Por eso yo también les di estatutos y decretos que no eran buenos ni podían darles vida.

26 A nd I defile them by their own gifts, By causing to pass away every opener of a womb, So that I make them desolate, So that they know that I Jehovah.

Cuando pasaban por el fuego a todos sus primogénitos, yo los contaminé con sus propias ofrendas. Lo hice para que se horrorizaran y reconocieran que yo soy el Señor.

27 T herefore, speak unto the house of Israel, son of man, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Still in this have your fathers reviled Me, In their committing against Me a trespass.

”Por lo tanto, hijo de hombre, habla con el pueblo de Israel y diles que yo, su Señor y Dios declaro que hasta en esto me ofendieron sus padres cuando se rebelaron contra mí.

28 A nd I bring them in unto the land, That I did lift up My hand to give to them, And they see every high hill, and every thick tree, And they sacrifice there their sacrifices, And give there the provocation of their offering, And make there their sweet fragrance, And they pour out there their libations.

Porque yo los traje a la tierra que juré darles. Levanté mi mano y les hice ese juramento. Pero ellos pusieron los ojos en toda colina y en todo árbol frondoso, y allí ofrecieron sacrificios y presentaron sus irritantes ofrendas, quemaron incienso y derramaron libaciones.

29 A nd I say unto them: What the high place whither ye are going in? And its name is called `high place' to this day.

Yo les pregunté por qué iban a ese lugar alto. Y a partir de entonces ese lugar se conoce con el nombre de ‘Bama’.

30 T herefore, say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the way of your fathers are ye defiled? And after their detestable things go a-whoring?

”Habla con el pueblo de Israel, y diles que yo, su Señor y Dios, les pregunto si acaso no se han contaminado lo mismo que sus padres, y se han prostituido al imitar sus hechos repugnantes.

31 A nd in the offering of your gifts, In causing your sons to pass through fire, Ye are defiled by all your idols to this day, And I am sought by you, O house of Israel! I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, I am not sought by you.

¡Pues sí! Se han contaminado al presentar ante sus ídolos sus ofrendas y pasar a sus hijos por el fuego. ¡Y esto lo hacen hasta el día de hoy! ¿Y así espera el pueblo de Israel que yo les responda? ¡Pues yo, su Señor y Dios, les juro que no voy a responderles!

32 A nd that which is going up on your mind, It is not at all -- in that ye are saying: We will be as the nations, as the families of the lands, To serve wood and stone.

Las cosas no van a ser como ustedes quieren que sean. Porque lo que ustedes quieren es ser como las demás naciones, como los pueblos de la tierra, que rinden culto a objetos de madera y de piedra.

33 I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Do not I, with a strong hand, And with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out -- rule over you?

Pero yo, su Señor y Dios, les juro que reinaré sobre ustedes con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y que daré rienda suelta a mi enojo

34 A nd I have brought you forth from the peoples, And assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, With a strong hand and with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out.

y los sacaré de los pueblos y países donde ahora están esparcidos. Sí, los reuniré con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y dando rienda suelta a mi enojo.

35 A nd I have brought you in unto the wilderness of the peoples, And have been judged with you there face to face.

Haré que vengan al desierto de los pueblos, y allí los juzgaré cara a cara.

36 A s I was judged with your fathers, In the wilderness of the land of Egypt, So I am judged with you, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Los juzgaré como antes juzgué a sus padres en el desierto de Egipto. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

37 A nd I have caused you to pass under the rod, And brought you into the bond of the covenant,

”Para que ustedes puedan hacer un pacto conmigo, los haré pasar por debajo de mi vara,

38 A nd cleared out from you the rebels, And them transgressing against Me, From the land of their sojournings I bring them out, And unto the land of Israel they come not, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

para apartar de entre ustedes a los que se rebelaron contra mí. Los sacaré de la tierra a la que emigraron, aunque no podrán entrar en la tierra de Israel. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.

39 A nd ye, O house of Israel, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Each his idols -- go -- serve ye, And, afterwards, if ye are not hearkening to me, And My holy name ye do not pollute any more by your gifts, and by your idols.

”Pueblo de Israel, su Señor y Dios les dice: ‘Ya que ustedes no quieren obedecerme, sigan rindiendo culto a sus ídolos, pero no sigan profanando mi santo nombre con sus ofrendas y sus ídolos.’

40 F or, in My holy mountain, In the mountain of the height of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, There serve Me do all the house of Israel, All of it, in the land -- there I accept them, And there I do seek your heave-offerings, And with the first-fruit of your gifts, With all your holy things.

Todo el pueblo, todos los que habitan en la tierra de Israel, debe adorarme en mi santo monte, en el alto monte de Israel. Allí los aceptaré. Allí demandaré sus ofrendas y sus primeros frutos, lo mismo que sus dones y todo lo que quieran consagrarme.” Palabra de Dios el Señor.

41 W ith sweet fragrance I do accept you, In My bringing you out from the peoples, And I have assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, And I have been sanctified in you Before the eyes of the nations.

»Cuando yo los haya sacado de entre los pueblos y los haya reunido de los países por donde ahora están esparcidos, los recibiré como si fueran incienso de aroma agradable, y a la vista de las naciones seré santificado en ustedes.

42 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My bringing you to the ground of Israel, Unto the land that I did lift up My hand To give it to your fathers,

Cuando los haya traído de vuelta a la tierra de Israel, la tierra por la que levanté mi mano para jurar a sus padres que se la daría, sabrán que yo soy el Señor.

43 A nd ye have remembered there your ways, And all your doings, In which ye have been defiled, And ye have been loathsome in your own faces, For all your evils that ye have done.

Entonces se acordarán de su mal proceder y de todos los hechos con que se contaminaron, y sentirán repugnancia de ustedes mismos por todos los pecados que cometieron.

44 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My dealing with you for My name's sake, Not according to your evil ways, And according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Pueblo de Israel, cuando yo actúe en favor de ustedes, lo haré por causa de mi nombre y no por su mal proceder ni por sus acciones perversas. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.» Palabra de Dios el Señor. Profecía contra el Néguev

45 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

46 S on of man, set thy face the way of Teman, and prophesy unto the south, and prophesy unto the forest of the field -- the south;

«Hijo de hombre, dirige ahora la mirada hacia el sur, y proclama tu palabra hacia la región austral. Profetiza contra el bosque del Néguev,

47 a nd thou hast said to the forest of the south: Hear a word of Jehovah: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am kindling in thee a fire, And it hath devoured in thee every moist tree, and every dry tree, Not quenched is the glowing flames, And burnt by it have been all faces from south to north.

y dile: “Bosque del Néguev, oye la palabra del Señor. Así ha dicho Dios el Señor: Voy a prenderte fuego, para que ardan todos tus árboles, verdes y secos. Las llamas de ese fuego no se apagarán hasta que hayan consumido todo el bosque, desde el sur hasta el norte.

48 A nd seen have all flesh, that I, Jehovah, have kindled it -- it is not quenched.'

No se apagará hasta que todos hayan visto que yo, el Señor, fui quien lo encendió.”»

49 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, They are saying of me, Is he not using similes?

Entonces dije: «¡Ay, mi Señor y Dios! ¡La gente me critica porque yo les hablo en parábolas!»
