1 A nd it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them,

Cuando los hombres comenzaron a multiplicarse por toda la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas,

2 a nd sons of God see the daughters of men that they fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen.

sucedió que los hijos de Dios vieron que las hijas de los hombres eran hermosas. Entonces tomaron mujeres para sí, las que escogieron de entre ellas.

3 A nd Jehovah saith, `My Spirit doth not strive in man -- to the age; in their erring they flesh:' and his days have been an hundred and twenty years.

Y el Señor dijo: «No va a estar mi espíritu peleando siempre con el hombre, pues él no es más que carne. Vivirá hasta ciento veinte años.»

4 T he fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them -- they the heroes, who, from of old, the men of name.

En esos días había gigantes en la tierra, y también después de que los hijos de Dios se unieran a las hijas de los hombres y les engendraran hijos. Éstos fueron los grandes héroes que desde la antigüedad ganaron renombre.

5 A nd Jehovah seeth that abundant the wickedness of man in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all the day;

El Señor vio que era mucha la maldad de los hombres en la tierra, y que todos los planes y pensamientos de su corazón eran siempre los de hacer sólo el mal.

6 a nd Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself -- unto His heart.

Y le pesó al Señor haber hecho al hombre en la tierra. Le dolió mucho en el corazón.

7 A nd Jehovah saith, `I wipe away man whom I have prepared from off the face of the ground, from man unto beast, unto creeping thing, and unto fowl of the heavens, for I have repented that I have made them.'

Y dijo el Señor: «Borraré de la faz de la tierra al hombre que he creado, lo mismo que a las bestias, los reptiles y las aves del cielo. ¡Me pesa haberlos hecho!»

8 A nd Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah.

Pero Noé halló gracia a los ojos del Señor. Noé construye el arca

9 T hese births of Noah: Noah a righteous man; perfect he hath been among his generations; with God hath Noah walked habitually.

Noé era un hombre justo. En sus acciones fue perfecto, pues siempre anduvo con Dios. Éstos fueron sus descendientes:

10 A nd Noah begetteth three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Noé engendró tres hijos, que fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet.

11 A nd the earth is corrupt before God, and the earth is filled violence.

Delante de Dios la tierra se corrompió y se llenó de violencia.

12 A nd God seeth the earth, and lo, it hath been corrupted, for all flesh hath corrupted its way on the earth.

Cuando Dios miró la tierra, encontró que estaba corrompida; de hecho, toda carne había corrompido su camino sobre la tierra.

13 A nd God said to Noah, `An end of all flesh hath come before Me, for the earth hath been full of violence from their presence; and lo, I am destroying them with the earth.

Entonces Dios le dijo a Noé: «He decidido acabar con todo ser, pues por causa de ellos la tierra está llena de violencia. ¡Yo los destruiré, junto con la tierra!

14 ` Make for thyself an ark of gopher-wood; rooms dost thou make with the ark, and thou hast covered it within and without with cypress;

Hazte un arca de madera de gofer, con aposentos en ella, y recúbrela con brea por dentro y por fuera.

15 a nd this that which thou dost with it: three hundred cubits the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height;

Hazla de esta manera: su longitud será de ciento treinta y cinco metros, su anchura será de veintidós y medio metros, y su altura de trece y medio metros.

16 a window dost thou make for the ark, and unto a cubit thou dost restrain it from above; and the opening of the ark thou dost put in its side, -- lower, second, and third dost thou make it.

Hazle una ventana, y termínala a medio metro de altura desde la parte de arriba. Pon en su costado la puerta del arca, y hazle un piso inferior, y un segundo y un tercer piso.

17 ` And I, lo, I am bringing in the deluge of waters on the earth to destroy all flesh, in which a living spirit, from under the heavens; all that in the earth doth expire.

Yo voy a traer sobre la tierra un diluvio, y destruiré a todo ser bajo el cielo en que haya hálito de vida. ¡Todo lo que hay en la tierra morirá!

18 ` And I have established My covenant with thee, and thou hast come in unto the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy son's wives with thee;

Pero contigo estableceré mi pacto, y tú entrarás en el arca, y contigo tus hijos, tu mujer, y las mujeres de tus hijos.

19 a nd of all that liveth, of all flesh, two of every thou dost bring in unto the ark, to keep alive with thee; male and female are they.

De todos los seres vivos meterás en el arca dos de cada especie, un macho y una hembra, para que sobrevivan contigo.

20 O f the fowl after its kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every they come in unto thee, to keep alive.

De las aves según su especie, de las bestias según su especie, y de todo reptil de la tierra según su especie, entrarán contigo dos de cada especie, para que sobrevivan.

21 ` And thou, take to thyself of all food that is eaten; and thou hast gathered unto thyself, and it hath been to thee and to them for food.'

Lleva contigo de todo aquello que se puede comer, y almacénalo, pues eso les servirá de alimento.»

22 A nd Noah doth according to all that God hath commanded him; so hath he done.

Y Noé lo hizo así. Todo lo hizo conforme a lo que Dios le ordenó.
