1 A t that hour came the disciples near to Jesus, saying, `Who, now, is greater in the reign of the heavens?'

En ese momento los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús, y le preguntaron: «¿Quién es el mayor en el reino de los cielos?»

2 A nd Jesus having called near a child, did set him in the midst of them,

Jesús llamó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos,

3 a nd said, `Verily I say to you, if ye may not be turned and become as the children, ye may not enter into the reign of the heavens;

y dijo: «De cierto les digo, que si ustedes no cambian y se vuelven como niños, no entrarán en el reino de los cielos.

4 w hoever then may humble himself as this child, he is the greater in the reign of the heavens.

Así que, cualquiera que se humilla como este niño es el mayor en el reino de los cielos;

5 ` And he who may receive one such child in my name, doth receive me,

y cualquiera que recibe en mi nombre a un niño como éste, me recibe a mí. Ocasiones de caer

6 a nd whoever may cause to stumble one of those little ones who are believing in me, it is better for him that a weighty millstone may be hanged upon his neck, and he may be sunk in the depth of the sea.

»A cualquiera que haga tropezar a alguno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, más le valdría que le colgaran al cuello una piedra de molino, y que lo hundieran en el fondo del mar.

7 ` Wo to the world from the stumbling-blocks! for there is a necessity for the stumbling-blocks to come, but wo to that man through whom the stumbling-block doth come!

»¡Ay del mundo por los tropiezos! Es necesario que vengan tropiezos, pero ¡ay de aquél por quien viene el tropiezo!

8 ` And if thy hand or thy foot doth cause thee to stumble, cut them off and cast from thee; it is good for thee to enter into the life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast to the fire the age-during.

Por tanto, si tu mano o tu pie te llevan a pecar, córtatelos y deséchalos. Es mejor que entres en la vida cojo o manco, y no que tengas las dos manos o los dos pies y seas echado en el fuego eterno.

9 ` And if thine eye doth cause thee to stumble, pluck it out and cast from thee; it is good for thee one-eyed to enter into the life, rather than having two eyes to be cast to the gehenna of the fire.

Y si tu ojo te hace pecar, sácatelo y deséchalo. Es mejor que entres en la vida con un solo ojo, y no que tengas los dos ojos y seas echado en el infierno de fuego. Parábola de la oveja perdida

10 ` Beware! -- ye may not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you, that their messengers in the heavens do always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens,

»Tengan cuidado de no menospreciar a uno de estos pequeños, porque yo les digo que sus ángeles en los cielos ven siempre el rostro de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

11 f or the Son of Man did come to save the lost.

Porque el Hijo del Hombre ha venido a salvar lo que se había perdido.

12 ` What think ye? if a man may have an hundred sheep, and there may go astray one of them, doth he not -- having left the ninety-nine, having gone on the mountains -- seek that which is gone astray?

¿Qué les parece? Si un hombre tiene cien ovejas, y una de ellas se pierde, ¿no deja las otras noventa y nueve y va por los montes a buscar la que se ha perdido?

13 a nd if it may come to pass that he doth find it, verily I say to you, that he doth rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that have not gone astray;

Si llega a encontrarla, de cierto les digo que se regocijará más por aquélla, que por las noventa y nueve que no se perdieron.

14 s o it is not will in presence of your Father who is in the heavens, that one of these little ones may perish.

Del mismo modo, el Padre de ustedes, que está en los cielos, no quiere que se pierda ninguno de estos pequeños. Cómo se debe perdonar al hermano

15 ` And if thy brother may sin against thee, go and show him his fault between thee and him alone, if he may hear thee, thou didst gain thy brother;

»Por tanto, si tu hermano peca contra ti, ve y repréndelo cuando él y tú estén solos. Si te hace caso, habrás ganado a tu hermano.

16 a nd if he may not hear, take with thee yet one or two, that by the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may stand.

Pero si no te hace caso, haz que te acompañen uno o dos más, para que todo lo que se diga conste en labios de dos o tres testigos.

17 ` And if he may not hear them, say to the assembly, and if also the assembly he may not hear, let him be to thee as the heathen man and the tax-gatherer.

Si tampoco a ellos les hace caso, hazlo saber a la iglesia; y si tampoco a la iglesia le hace caso, ténganlo entonces por gentil y cobrador de impuestos.

18 ` Verily I say to you, Whatever things ye may bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever things ye may loose on the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens.

De cierto les digo que todo lo que aten en la tierra, será atado en el cielo; y todo lo que desaten en la tierra, será desatado en el cielo.

19 ` Again, I say to you, that, if two of you may agree on the earth concerning anything, whatever they may ask -- it shall be done to them from my Father who is in the heavens,

Una vez más les digo, que si en este mundo dos de ustedes se ponen de acuerdo en lo que piden, mi Padre, que está en los cielos, se lo concederá.

20 f or where there are two or three gathered together -- to my name, there am I in the midst of them.'

Porque donde dos o tres se reúnen en mi nombre, allí estoy yo, en medio de ellos.»

21 T hen Peter having come near to him, said, `Sir, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him -- till seven times?'

Entonces se le acercó Pedro y le dijo: «Señor, si mi hermano peca contra mí, ¿cuántas veces debo perdonarlo? ¿Hasta siete veces?»

22 J esus saith to him, `I do not say to thee till seven times, but till seventy times seven.

Jesús le dijo: «No te digo que hasta siete veces, sino hasta setenta veces siete.» Los dos deudores

23 ` Because of this was the reign of the heavens likened to a man, a king, who did will to take reckoning with his servants,

Por eso, el reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que quiso hacer cuentas con sus siervos.

24 a nd he having begun to take account, there was brought near to him one debtor of a myriad of talents,

Cuando comenzó a hacer cuentas, le llevaron a uno que le debía plata por millones.

25 a nd he having nothing to pay, his lord did command him to be sold, and his wife, and the children, and all, whatever he had, and payment to be made.

Como éste no podía pagar, su señor ordenó que lo vendieran, junto con su mujer y sus hijos, y con todo lo que tenía, para que la deuda quedara pagada.

26 T he servant then, having fallen down, was bowing to him, saying, Sir, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all;

Pero aquel siervo se postró ante él, y le suplicó: «Señor, ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.»

27 a nd the lord of that servant having been moved with compassion did release him, and the debt he forgave him.

El rey de aquel siervo se compadeció de él, lo dejó libre y le perdonó la deuda.

28 ` And, that servant having come forth, found one of his fellow-servants who was owing him an hundred denaries, and having laid hold, he took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that which thou owest.

Cuando aquel siervo salió, se encontró con uno de sus consiervos, que le debía cien días de salario, y agarrándolo por el cuello le dijo: «Págame lo que me debes.»

29 H is fellow-servant then, having fallen down at his feet, was calling on him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all;

Su consiervo se puso de rodillas y le rogó: «Ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.»

30 a nd he would not, but having gone away, he cast him into prison, till he might pay that which was owing.

Pero aquél no quiso, sino que lo mandó a la cárcel hasta que pagara la deuda.

31 ` And his fellow-servants having seen the things that were done, were grieved exceedingly, and having come, shewed fully to their lord all the things that were done;

Cuando sus consiervos vieron lo que pasaba, se pusieron muy tristes y fueron a contarle al rey todo lo que había pasado.

32 t hen having called him, his lord saith to him, Evil servant! all that debt I did forgive thee, seeing thou didst call upon me,

Entonces el rey le ordenó presentarse ante él, y le dijo: «Siervo malvado, yo te perdoné toda aquella gran deuda, porque me rogaste.

33 d id it not behove also thee to have dealt kindly with thy fellow-servant, as I also dealt kindly with thee?

¿No debías tú tener misericordia de tu consiervo, como yo la tuve de ti?»

34 ` And having been wroth, his lord delivered him to the inquisitors, till he might pay all that was owing to him;

Y muy enojado, el rey lo entregó a los verdugos hasta que pagara todo lo que le debía.

35 s o also my heavenly Father will do to you, if ye may not forgive each one his brother from your hearts their trespasses.'

Así también mi Padre celestial hará con ustedes, si no perdonan de todo corazón a sus hermanos.
