1 S ing, O barren, she hath not borne! Break forth with singing, and cry aloud, She hath not brought forth! For more the sons of the desolate, Than the sons of the married one, said Jehovah.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «¡Regocíjate, mujer estéril, tú que no dabas a luz! ¡Eleva tu canto y da voces de júbilo, tú que nunca estuviste de parto! ¡Más hijos tendrá la desamparada que la casada!

2 E nlarge the place of thy tent, And the curtains of thy tabernacles they stretch out, Restrain not -- lengthen thy cords, And thy pins make strong.

¡Extiende el sitio de tu tienda! ¡Alarga las cortinas de tus aposentos! ¡No te midas! ¡Extiende las cuerdas y refuerza las estacas!

3 F or right and left thou breakest forth, And thy seed doth nations possess,

Porque vas a extenderte a la derecha y a la izquierda, y tu descendencia heredará naciones y habitará las ciudades asoladas.

4 A nd desolate cities they cause to be inhabited. Fear not, for thou art not ashamed, Nor blush, for thou art not confounded, For the shame of thy youth thou forgettest, And the reproach of thy widowhood Thou dost not remember any more.

»No tengas miedo, que no serás confundida; no te avergüences, que no serás afrentada. Al contrario, te olvidarás de la vergüenza de tu juventud, y no volverás a acordarte de la afrenta de tu viudez.

5 F or thy Maker thy husband, Jehovah of Hosts His name, And thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel, `God of all the earth,' He is called.

Tu marido es tu Creador, y su nombre es el Señor de los ejércitos; tu Redentor es el Santo de Israel, y su nombre es el Dios de toda la tierra.

6 F or, as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Called thee hath Jehovah, Even a youthful wife when she is refused, said thy God.

Yo, el Señor, te lo he dicho: Te llamé cuando eras una mujer abandonada y de espíritu decaído; cuando eras como una joven esposa que ha sido repudiada.

7 I n a small moment I have forsaken thee, And in great mercies I do gather thee,

Es verdad: te abandoné por un poco de tiempo, pero volveré a recogerte con grandes misericordias.

8 I n overflowing wrath I hid my face a moment from thee, And in kindness age-during I have loved thee, Said thy Redeemer -- Jehovah!

Estaba yo un poco enojado cuando por algún tiempo no quise ni verte; pero volveré a tenerte compasión y misericordia eterna. Lo digo yo, que soy tu Señor y Redentor.

9 F or, the waters of Noah this to Me, In that I have sworn -- the waters of Noah Do not pass again over the earth -- So I have sworn, Wrath is not upon thee, Nor rebuke against thee.

»Esto será para mí semejante a los días de Noé, cuando juré que nunca más las aguas del diluvio volverían a cubrir la tierra: Ya he jurado que no volveré a enojarme contra ti, ni te reñiré.

10 F or the mountains depart, and the hills remove, And My kindness from thee departeth not, And the covenant of My peace removeth not, Said hath thy loving one -- Jehovah.

Podrán moverse los montes, podrán temblar las colinas, pero mi misericordia jamás se apartará de ti, ni se romperá mi pacto de paz contigo. Lo digo yo, el Señor, quien tiene de ti misericordia.

11 O afflicted, storm-tossed, not comforted, Lo, I am laying with cement thy stones, And have founded thee with sapphires,

»¡Pobrecita! La tempestad te ha azotado, y nadie te ha brindado consuelo. Pero voy a ponerte por cimientos piedras de carbunclo y de zafiro.

12 A nd have made of agate thy pinnacles, And thy gates of carbuncle stones, And all thy border of stones of delight,

Tus ventanas las haré de piedras preciosas, tus puertas serán de piedra de carbunclo, y toda tu muralla será de piedras preciosas.

13 A nd all thy sons are taught of Jehovah, And abundant the peace of thy sons.

Yo, el Señor, enseñaré a todos tus hijos, y su paz se verá multiplicada.

14 I n righteousness thou establishest thyself, Be far from oppression, for thou fearest not, And from ruin, for it cometh not near unto thee.

Tu adorno será la justicia. Y no tendrás nada que temer porque la opresión se alejará de ti, y nunca más se te volverá a acercar.

15 L o, he doth diligently assemble without My desire, Who hath assembled near thee? By thee he falleth!

Si alguno conspira contra ti, no será con mi ayuda; el que contra ti conspire, caerá muerto ante tus propios ojos.

16 L o, I -- I have prepared an artizan, Blowing on a fire of coals, And bringing out an instrument for his work, And I have prepared a destroyer to destroy.

Yo he creado al herrero, al que atiza las ascuas en el fuego y saca luego la herramienta para hacer su obra; y yo he creado también al destructor, para que destruya.

17 N o weapon formed against thee prospereth, And every tongue rising against thee, In judgment thou condemnest. This the inheritance of the servants of Jehovah, And their righteousness from me, an affirmation of Jehovah!

No saldrá victoriosa ninguna arma que se forje contra ti. Y tú condenarás a toda lengua que en el juicio se levante contra ti. Ésta es la herencia de los siervos del Señor. Su salvación viene de mí. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.
