1 S ing, O barren, she hath not borne! Break forth with singing, and cry aloud, She hath not brought forth! For more the sons of the desolate, Than the sons of the married one, said Jehovah.

«Esulta, o sterile, tu che non partorivi! Da’ in grida di gioia e rallègrati, tu che non provavi doglie di parto! Poiché i figli dell’abbandonata saranno più numerosi dei figli di colei che ha marito», dice il Signore.

2 E nlarge the place of thy tent, And the curtains of thy tabernacles they stretch out, Restrain not -- lengthen thy cords, And thy pins make strong.

«Allarga il luogo della tua tenda, si spieghino i teli della tua abitazione, senza risparmio; allunga i tuoi cordami, rafforza i tuoi picchetti!

3 F or right and left thou breakest forth, And thy seed doth nations possess,

4 A nd desolate cities they cause to be inhabited. Fear not, for thou art not ashamed, Nor blush, for thou art not confounded, For the shame of thy youth thou forgettest, And the reproach of thy widowhood Thou dost not remember any more.

Non temere, perché tu non sarai più confusa; non avere vergogna, perché non dovrai più arrossire; ma dimenticherai la vergogna della tua giovinezza, non ricorderai più l’infamia della tua vedovanza.

5 F or thy Maker thy husband, Jehovah of Hosts His name, And thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel, `God of all the earth,' He is called.

6 F or, as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Called thee hath Jehovah, Even a youthful wife when she is refused, said thy God.

9 F or, the waters of Noah this to Me, In that I have sworn -- the waters of Noah Do not pass again over the earth -- So I have sworn, Wrath is not upon thee, Nor rebuke against thee.

«Avverrà per me come delle acque di Noè; poiché, come giurai che le acque di Noè non si sarebbero più sparse sopra la terra, così io giuro di non irritarmi più contro di te, di non minacciarti più.

10 F or the mountains depart, and the hills remove, And My kindness from thee departeth not, And the covenant of My peace removeth not, Said hath thy loving one -- Jehovah.

Anche se i monti si allontanassero e i colli fossero rimossi, l’amore mio non si allontanerà da te, né il mio patto di pace sarà rimosso», dice il Signore, che ha pietà di te.

11 O afflicted, storm-tossed, not comforted, Lo, I am laying with cement thy stones, And have founded thee with sapphires,

12 A nd have made of agate thy pinnacles, And thy gates of carbuncle stones, And all thy border of stones of delight,

13 A nd all thy sons are taught of Jehovah, And abundant the peace of thy sons.

Tutti i tuoi figli saranno discepoli del Signore e grande sarà la pace dei tuoi figli.

14 I n righteousness thou establishest thyself, Be far from oppression, for thou fearest not, And from ruin, for it cometh not near unto thee.

Tu sarai stabilita fermamente mediante la giustizia; sarai lontana dall’oppressione, perché non avrai niente da temere, e dalla rovina, perché non si accosterà a te.

15 L o, he doth diligently assemble without My desire, Who hath assembled near thee? By thee he falleth!

Ecco, potranno fare alleanze, ma senza di me. Chiunque farà alleanza contro di te, cadrà davanti a te.

16 L o, I -- I have prepared an artizan, Blowing on a fire of coals, And bringing out an instrument for his work, And I have prepared a destroyer to destroy.

Ecco, io ho creato il fabbro; egli soffia nel fuoco sui carboni e forgia uno strumento per il suo lavoro; io pure ho creato il devastatore per distruggere.

17 N o weapon formed against thee prospereth, And every tongue rising against thee, In judgment thou condemnest. This the inheritance of the servants of Jehovah, And their righteousness from me, an affirmation of Jehovah!

Nessun’arma fabbricata contro di te riuscirà; ogni lingua che sorgerà in giudizio contro di te, tu la condannerai. Questa è l’eredità dei servi del Signore, la giusta ricompensa che verrà loro da me», dice il Signore.
