1 A nd he sheweth me Joshua the high priest standing before the messenger of Jehovah, and the Adversary standing at his right hand, to be an adversary to him.

Mi fece vedere il sommo sacerdote Giosuè, che stava davanti all’angelo del Signore, e Satana, che stava alla sua destra per accusarlo.

2 A nd Jehovah saith unto the Adversary: `Jehovah doth push against thee, O Adversary, Yea, push against thee doth Jehovah, Who is fixing on Jerusalem, Is not this a brand delivered from fire?'

Il Signore disse a Satana: «Ti sgridi il Signore, Satana! Ti sgridi il Signore che ha scelto Gerusalemme! Non è forse costui un tizzone strappato dal fuoco?»

3 A nd Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and is standing before the messenger.

Giosuè era vestito di vesti sudicie e stava davanti all’angelo.

4 A nd he answereth and speaketh unto those standing before him, saying: `Turn aside the filthy garments from off him.' And he saith unto him, `See, I have caused thine iniquity to pass away from off thee, so as to clothe thee with costly apparel.'

L’angelo disse a quelli che gli stavano davanti: «Levategli di dosso le vesti sudicie!» Poi disse a Giosuè: «Guarda, io ti ho tolto di dosso la tua iniquità e ti ho rivestito di abiti magnifici».

5 H e also said, `Let them set a pure diadem on his head. And they set the pure diadem on his head, and clothe him with garments. And the messenger of Jehovah is standing,

Allora io dissi: «Gli sia messo sul capo un turbante pulito!» Quelli gli posero sul capo un turbante pulito e gli misero delle vesti; l’angelo del Signore era presente.

6 a nd the messenger of Jehovah doth protest to Joshua, saying:

Poi l’angelo del Signore fece a Giosuè questo solenne ammonimento:

7 ` Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: If in My ways thou dost walk, And if My charge thou dost keep, Then also thou dost judge My house, And also thou dost keep My courts, And I have given to thee conductors among these standing by.

«Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: “Se tu cammini nelle mie vie e osservi quello che ti ho comandato, anche tu governerai la mia casa, custodirai i miei cortili e io ti darò libero accesso fra quelli che stanno qui davanti a me.

8 H ear, I pray thee, Joshua, the high priest, Thou and thy companions sitting before thee, (For men of type they,) For lo, I am bringing in My servant -- a Shoot.

Ascolta dunque, Giosuè, sommo sacerdote, tu e i tuoi compagni che stanno seduti davanti a te! Poiché questi uomini servono da presagio. Ecco, io faccio venire il mio servo, il Germoglio.

9 F or lo, the stone that I put before Joshua, On one stone seven eyes, Lo, I am graving its graving, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I have removed the iniquity of that land in one day.

Infatti, guardate la pietra che io ho posta davanti a Giosuè: sopra un’unica pietra stanno sette occhi; ecco, io vi inciderò quello che deve esservi inciso”, dice il Signore degli eserciti, “e toglierò via l’iniquità di questo paese in un solo giorno.

10 I n that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Ye do call, each unto his neighbour, Unto the place of the vine, And unto the place of the fig-tree!'

In quel giorno”, dice il Signore degli eserciti, “voi vi inviterete gli uni gli altri sotto la vite e sotto il fico”».
