1 ` And thou, son of man, take to thee a brick, and thou hast put it before thee, and hast graven on it a city -- Jerusalem,

«Tu, figlio d’uomo, prendi un mattone, mettitelo davanti e disegnaci sopra una città, Gerusalemme;

2 a nd hast placed against it a siege, and builded against it a fortification, and poured out against it a mount, and placed against it camps, yea, set thou against it battering-rams round about.

cingila d’assedio, costruisci contro di lei una torre, fa’ contro di lei dei bastioni, circondala di vari accampamenti e disponi contro di lei, tutto intorno, degli arieti.

3 A nd thou, take to thee an iron pan, and thou hast made it a wall of iron between thee and the city; and thou hast prepared thy face against it, and it hath been in a siege, yea, thou hast laid siege against it. A sign it to the house of Israel.

Prendi poi una piastra di ferro e piazzala come un muro di ferro fra te e la città. Volta la tua faccia contro di essa; sia assediata, e tu cingila d’assedio. Questo sarà un segno per la casa d’Israele.

4 ` And thou, lie on thy left side, and thou hast placed the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; the number of the days that thou liest on it, thou bearest their iniquity.

Poi sdràiati sul tuo lato sinistro e metti su questo lato l’iniquità della casa d’Israele; per il numero di giorni che starai sdraiato su quel lato, tu porterai la loro iniquità.

5 A nd I -- I have laid on thee the years of their iniquity, the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and thou hast borne the iniquity of the house of Israel.

Io ti conterò gli anni della loro iniquità in un numero pari a quello di quei giorni: trecentonovanta giorni. Tu porterai così l’iniquità della casa d’Israele.

6 A nd thou hast completed these, and hast lain on thy right side, a second time, and hast borne the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days -- a day for a year -- a day for a year I have appointed to thee.

Quando avrai compiuto quei giorni, ti sdraierai di nuovo sul tuo lato destro e porterai l’iniquità della casa di Giuda per quaranta giorni: t’impongo un giorno per ogni anno.

7 ` And unto the siege of Jerusalem thou dost prepare thy face, and thine arm uncovered, and thou hast prophesied concerning it.

Tu volgerai la tua faccia e il tuo braccio nudo verso l’assedio di Gerusalemme, e profetizzerai contro di essa.

8 A nd lo, I have put on thee thick bands, and thou dost not turn from side to side till thy completing the days of thy siege.

Ecco, io ti metterò addosso delle corde, e tu non potrai voltarti da un lato sull’altro finché tu non abbia compiuto i giorni del tuo assedio.

9 ` And thou, take to thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and spelt, and thou hast put them in one vessel, and made them to thee for bread; the number of the days that thou art lying on thy side -- three hundred and ninety days -- thou dost eat it.

Prendi anche frumento, orzo, fave, lenticchie, miglio e spelta; mettili in un vaso e fattene del pane sufficiente per tutto il tempo che starai sdraiato sul tuo lato; ne mangerai per trecentonovanta giorni.

10 A nd thy food that thou dost eat by weight, twenty shekels daily; from time to time thou dost eat it.

Il cibo che mangerai sarà del peso di venti sicli per giorno; lo mangerai una volta al giorno.

11 ` And water by measure thou dost drink, a sixth part of the hin; from time to time thou dost drink.

Berrai pure dell’acqua a misura, la sesta parte di un hin; la berrai una volta al giorno.

12 A barley-cake thou dost eat it, and it with dung -- the filth of man -- thou dost bake before their eyes.

Mangerai delle focacce d’orzo, che metterai a cuocere sopra escrementi d’uomo, in loro presenza».

13 A nd Jehovah saith, `Thus do the sons of Israel eat their defiled bread among the nations whither I drive them.'

Il Signore disse: «Così i figli d’Israele mangeranno il loro pane contaminato fra le nazioni dove io li caccerò».

14 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, lo, my soul is not defiled, and carcase, and torn thing, I have not eaten from my youth, even till now; nor come into my mouth hath abominable flesh.'

Allora io dissi: «Ahimè, Signore, Dio, ecco, io non mi sono mai contaminato; dalla mia infanzia a ora, non ho mai mangiato carne di bestia morta da sé o sbranata, e non mi è mai entrata in bocca nessuna carne impura».

15 A nd He saith unto me, `See, I have given to thee bullock's dung instead of man's dung, and thou hast made thy bread by it.'

Egli mi disse: «Guarda, io ti do dello sterco bovino, invece di escrementi d’uomo; sopra quello cuocerai il tuo pane!»

16 A nd He saith unto me, `Son of man, lo, I am breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they have eaten bread by weight and with fear; and water by measure and with astonishment, they do drink;

Poi mi disse: «Figlio d’uomo, io farò mancare del tutto il sostegno del pane a Gerusalemme; essi mangeranno con angoscia pane razionato e berranno acqua a misura, nel terrore,

17 s o that they lack bread and water, and have been astonished one with another, and been consumed in their iniquity.

perché mancheranno di pane e di acqua. Saranno tutti avviliti e si consumeranno a causa della loro iniquità.
