1 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

2 T hou dost not take to thee a wife, Nor hast thou sons and daughters in this place.

«Non prendere moglie e non avere figli né figlie in questo luogo».

3 F or thus said Jehovah, Of the sons and of the daughters who are born in this place, And of their mothers -- those bearing them, And of their fathers -- those begetting them in this land:

Infatti così parla il Signore riguardo ai figli e alle figlie che nascono in questo paese, alle madri che li partoriscono e ai padri che li generano in questo paese:

4 O f painful deaths they die, They are not lamented, nor are they buried, For dung on the face of the ground they are, And by sword and by famine are consumed, And their carcase hath been for food To the fowl of the heavens, And to the beast of the earth.

«Essi moriranno consumati dalle malattie, non saranno rimpianti e non avranno sepoltura; serviranno di letame sulla faccia della terra; saranno consumati dalla spada e dalla fame, e i loro cadaveri saranno pasto per gli uccelli del cielo e per le bestie della terra».

5 F or thus said Jehovah: Do not enter the house of a mourning-feast, Nor go to lament nor bemoan for them, For I have removed My peace from this people, An affirmation of Jehovah, The kindness and the mercies.

Poiché così parla il Signore: «Non entrare nella casa del lutto, non andare ad affliggerti con loro né a compiangerli, perché», dice il Signore, «io ho ritirato da questo popolo la mia pace, la mia bontà, la mia compassione.

6 A nd died have great and small in this land, They are not buried, and none lament for them, Nor doth any cut himself, nor become bald for them.

Grandi e piccoli moriranno in questo paese; non avranno sepoltura, non si farà lutto per loro, nessuno si farà incisioni addosso o si raderà per loro;

7 N or do they deal out to them for mourning, To comfort him concerning the dead, Nor cause them to drink a cup of consolations For his father and for his mother.

non si spezzerà per loro il pane del lutto per consolarli di un morto, non si offrirà loro da bere la coppa della consolazione per un padre o per una madre.

8 A house of banqueting thou dost not enter, To sit with them, to eat and to drink,

Allo stesso modo non entrare in nessuna casa di convito per sederti con loro a mangiare e a bere».

9 F or thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am causing to cease from this place, Before your eyes, and in your days, The voice of joy, and the voice of rejoicing, The voice of bridegroom and voice of bride.

Infatti così parla il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: «Ecco, io farò cessare in questo luogo, davanti ai vostri occhi, ai giorni vostri, il grido di gioia, il grido d’esultanza, il canto dello sposo e il canto della sposa».

10 A nd it hath come to pass when thou declarest to this people all these words, and they have said unto thee, `For what hath Jehovah spoken against us all this great evil? yea, what our iniquity, and what our sin, that we have sinned against Jehovah our God?'

«Quando tu annuncerai a questo popolo tutte queste cose, essi ti diranno: “Perché il Signore ha pronunciato contro di noi tutta questa grande calamità? Qual è la nostra iniquità? Qual è il peccato che abbiamo commesso contro il Signore, il nostro Dio?”

11 T hen thou hast said unto them: Because that your fathers have forsaken Me, An affirmation of Jehovah, And go after other gods, and serve them, And they bow themselves to them, And Me have forsaken, and My law not kept,

Allora tu risponderai loro: “Perché i vostri padri mi hanno abbandonato”, dice il Signore, “sono andati dietro ad altri dèi, li hanno serviti e si sono prostrati davanti a loro, hanno abbandonato me e non hanno osservato la mia legge.

12 Y e also have done evil above your fathers, And lo, ye are walking each after the stubbornness of his evil heart, So as not to hearken unto Me.

Voi avete fatto anche peggio dei vostri padri; perché, ecco, ciascuno cammina seguendo la caparbietà del suo cuore malvagio, per non dare ascolto a me.

13 A nd I have cast you from off this land, On to a land that ye have not known, Ye and your fathers, And ye have served there other gods by day and by night, Where I do not give to you grace.

Perciò io vi caccerò da questo paese in un paese che né voi né i vostri padri avete conosciuto; là servirete giorno e notte altri dèi, perché io non vi farò grazia”. Promessa di restaurazione

14 T herefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it is not said any more: `Jehovah liveth, who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,'

«Perciò, ecco, i giorni vengono», dice il Signore, «in cui non si dirà più: “Per la vita del Signore che condusse i figli d’Israele fuori dal paese d’Egitto”,

15 B ut, `Jehovah liveth, who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of the north, And out of all the lands whither He drove them,' And I have brought them back to their land, That I gave to their fathers.

ma: “Per la vita del Signore che ha condotto i figli d’Israele fuori dal paese del settentrione e da tutti gli altri paesi nei quali li aveva scacciati”. Io li ricondurrò nel loro paese, che avevo dato ai loro padri.

16 L o, I am sending for many fishers, An affirmation of Jehovah, And they have fished them, And after this I send for many hunters, And they have hunted them from off every mountain, And from off every hill, and from holes of the rocks.

Ecco, io mando un gran numero di pescatori a pescarli», dice il Signore; «inoltre manderò un gran numero di cacciatori a dar loro la caccia sopra ogni monte, sopra ogni collina e nelle fessure delle rocce.

17 F or Mine eyes upon all their ways, They have not been hidden from My face, Nor hath their iniquity been concealed from before Mine eyes.

Poiché i miei occhi sono su tutte le loro vie; esse non sono nascoste davanti alla mia faccia, la loro iniquità non rimane occulta ai miei occhi.

18 A nd I have recompensed a first -- A second time -- their iniquity and their sin, Because of their polluting My land, With the carcase of their detestable things, Yea, their abominable things have filled Mine inheritance.

Prima darò loro una doppia retribuzione per la loro iniquità e per il loro peccato, perché hanno profanato il mio paese, con quei cadaveri che sono i loro idoli ripugnanti, e hanno riempito la mia eredità delle loro abominazioni».

19 O Jehovah, my strength, and my fortress, And my refuge in a day of adversity, Unto Thee nations do come from the ends of earth, And say, Only falsehood did our fathers inherit, Vanity, and none among them is profitable.

Signore, mia forza, mia fortezza e mio rifugio nel giorno dell’avversità! A te verranno le nazioni dalle estremità della terra e diranno: «I nostri padri non hanno ereditato che menzogne, vanità e cose che non giovano a nulla.

20 D oth man make for himself gods, And they -- no gods?

L’uomo dovrebbe farsi degli dèi? Ma già essi non sono dèi».

21 T herefore, lo, I am causing them to know at this time, I cause them to know My hand and My might, And they have known that My name Jehovah!

«Perciò, ecco, io farò loro conoscere, questa volta farò loro conoscere la mia mano e la mia potenza; sapranno che il mio nome è il Signore ».
