1 A Psalm of David. The affirmation of Jehovah to my Lord: `Sit at My right hand, Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.'

Salmo di Davide. Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: «Siedi alla mia destra finché io abbia fatto dei tuoi nemici lo sgabello dei tuoi piedi ».

2 T he rod of thy strength doth Jehovah send from Zion, Rule in the midst of thine enemies.

Il Signore stenderà da Sion lo scettro del tuo potere. Domina in mezzo ai tuoi nemici!

3 T hy people free-will gifts in the day of Thy strength, in the honours of holiness, From the womb, from the morning, Thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Il tuo popolo si offre volenteroso quando raduni il tuo esercito. Parata di santità, dal seno dell’alba la tua gioventù viene a te come rugiada.

4 J ehovah hath sworn, and doth not repent, `Thou a priest to the age, According to the order of Melchizedek.'

Il Signore ha giurato e non si pentirà: «Tu sei Sacerdote in eterno, secondo l’ordine di Melchisedec ».

5 T he Lord on thy right hand smote kings In the day of His anger.

Il Signore, alla tua destra, schiaccia dei re nel giorno della sua ira,

6 H e doth judge among the nations, He hath completed the carcases, Hath smitten the head over the mighty earth.

giudica i popoli, ammucchia i cadaveri, stritola la testa ai nemici in un vasto territorio.

7 F rom a brook in the way he drinketh, Therefore he doth lift up the head!

Si disseta al torrente lungo il cammino e perciò terrà alta la testa.
