1 A word of Jehovah that hath been unto Micah the Morashite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah, that he hath seen concerning Samaria and Jerusalem:

Parola del Signore, rivolta a Michea, il Morastita, al tempo di Iotam, di Acaz e di Ezechia, re di Giuda. Visione che egli ebbe riguardo a Samaria e a Gerusalemme.

2 H ear, O peoples, all of them! Attend, O earth, and its fulness, And the Lord Jehovah is against you for a witness, The Lord from His holy temple.

Ascoltate, o popoli tutti! Presta attenzione, o terra, con tutto quello che è in te! Il Signore, Dio, sia testimone contro di voi, il Signore dal suo tempio santo.

3 F or lo, Jehovah is going out from His place, And He hath come down, And hath trodden on high places of earth.

Infatti, ecco, il Signore esce dal suo luogo, scende, cammina sulle alture della terra.

4 M elted have been the mountains under Him, And the valleys do rend themselves, As wax from the presence of fire, As waters cast down by a slope.

I monti si sciolgono sotto di lui e le valli si liquefanno come cera davanti al fuoco, come acqua che cola sopra un pendìo.

5 F or the transgression of Jacob all this, And for the sins of the house of Israel. What the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what the high places of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?

Tutto questo a causa della trasgressione di Giacobbe e dei peccati della casa d’Israele. Qual è la trasgressione di Giacobbe? Non è forse Samaria? Quali sono gli alti luoghi di Giuda? Non sono forse Gerusalemme?

6 A nd I have set Samaria for a heap of the field, For plantations of a vineyard, And poured out into a valley her stones, And her foundations I uncover.

«Perciò io farò di Samaria un mucchio di pietre nella campagna, un luogo da piantarci le vigne; ne farò rotolare le pietre giù nella valle, ne metterò allo scoperto le fondamenta.

7 A nd all her graven images are beaten down, And all her gifts are burnt with fire, And all her idols I make a desolation, For, from the hire of a harlot she gathered, and unto the hire of a harlot they return.

Tutte le sue immagini scolpite saranno infrante, tutte le sue offerte agli idoli saranno arse con il fuoco, io ridurrò tutti i suoi idoli in desolazione, perché sono offerte raccolte come salario di prostituzione e torneranno a essere salario di prostituzione».

8 F or this I lament and howl, I go spoiled and naked, I make a lamentation like dragons, And a mourning like daughters of an ostrich.

Per questo io piangerò e griderò, andrò scalzo e nudo; alzerò lamenti come lo sciacallo, grida lugubri come lo struzzo.

9 F or mortal her wounds, For it hath come unto Judah, It hath come to a gate of My people -- to Jerusalem.

La sua piaga infatti è incurabile; si estende fino a Giuda e giunge fino alla porta del mio popolo, fino a Gerusalemme.

10 I n Gath tell ye not -- in Acco weep not, In Beth-Aphrah, in dust roll thyself.

Non l’annunciate a Gat! Non piangete ad Acco! A Bet-Leafra io mi rotolo nella polvere.

11 P ass over for thee, O inhabitant of Shaphir, Naked one of shame. Not gone out hath the inhabitant of Zaanan, The lamentation of Beth-Ezel doth take from you its standing.

Parti, vattene, o abitante di Safir, nuda e piena di vergogna! Non esce più l’abitante di Saanan; il lutto di Bet-Aesel vi priva della sua protezione.

12 F or stayed for good hath the inhabitant of Maroth, For evil hath come down from Jehovah to the gate of Jerusalem.

L’abitante di Marot trema per la sua salvezza, perché una sciagura è scesa da parte del Signore fino alla porta di Gerusalemme.

13 B ind the chariot to a swift beast, O inhabitant of Lachish, The beginning of sin she to the daughter of Zion, For in thee have been found the transgressions of Israel.

Attacca i cavalli al carro, o abitante di Lachis! Tu sei stata causa di peccato per la figlia di Sion, poiché in te si sono trovate le trasgressioni d’Israele.

14 T herefore thou givest presents to Moresheth-Gath, The houses of Achzib become a lying thing to the kings of Israel.

Perciò tu darai un regalo d’addio a Moreset-Gat; le case di Aczib saranno una delusione per i re d’Israele.

15 Y et the possessor I do bring in to thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah, To Adullam come in doth the honour of Israel.

Io farò venire il tuo nuovo padrone, o abitante di Maresa; fino ad Adullam arriverà la gloria d’Israele!

16 M ake bald and shave, for thy delightful sons, Enlarge thy baldness as an eagle, For they have removed from thee!

Tàgliati i capelli, raditi il capo, a causa dei figli, tue delizie! Fatti calva come l’avvoltoio, perché essi vanno in esilio, lontani da te!
